Does the cure +10% stack with Medicine Ring (for 50 whm, its a latent effect for the ring)? Anyone know?

Alright, so I have read all these posts, but my question hasn't eber been brought up yet. Carbuncle perpetuation cost -2, yes. But what about the light spirit? oO

(May be irrelevant, I 'un think light spirit will matter for a white mage, but all the same- whats up with teh pretty crystal ball?)

I know that some items can be made using different recipes. Is that the case here? Seems kinda bad that you can only make one of these... ever.

Any word on if this improves Heal Breath for DRGs? Might make this a viable alternative for farming undead if it does (MIGHT).

Charming and BST

The proof that this helps Charms is in the game itself. The NPC in San d'Oria who tells you about the elements and their effects tells you that Light element defense helps you defend against Charm, which means less chance of being charmed and/or shorter charms when they do happen to you.

That means that Charm is based on Light, so a hidden trait of a Light Staff (which I hear from many other BST) is that your Charm rate increases and mobs are easier to take under control.

This is rumored (and proven in certain cases) to be better than a Monster Signa, plus it's a helluva lot cheaper. So for you BST wanting to not fail in an emergency or with linking mobs, get this bad boy over the Signa.

Light Staff = the best things a BST can have, don't doubt it, I used signa since 20 and have used Staff since 51 and I would even say its better. Also great for curing, Taming and every other ability a BST has since all BST abilities are Light Based.

My 71 BST friend used a signa till 70 then decided what the hell, tried a light staff, and sent me a message saying "Why didn't you tell me it was so good??" ... I'm like "I did >.>"

We know that all elemental staves have a hidden attribute that boosts the strength of the corresponding spells. For example, if a BLM equips an Ice Staff his blizzard spells will do more damage.

Doesn't it then go without saying that a Light Staff will increase the strength of cure spells? The Cure +10% comment in the item description seems redundant to me. Any thoughts?

if u equip this and cure undead, it increases the power of it as if it were a nuke. if u cure a PC the +10% kicks in. I haven't been able to verify if the hidden effect and the listed effect stack when cure nukeing.

Actually, the staves are only proven to enhance offensive effects, not defensive or neutral ones. In fact, I have yet to see any good evidence for them enhancing anything that isn't offensive related except through direct bonus such as the +10% cure potency.

Regen III is most definitely effected. 20hp/tick with light staff

or maybe u know...it enhances light magic attacks...like the spell banish....ever think about that.....

My guess is that the "Cure" potency +10% is a bit more effective than the "hidden" boost for light spells.

I am not sure if they would stack or not though.

Not sure how Light Staff would out power +8 Chr from Monster Signa for Bst, but I've heard some mention that Charm is based on Light... so really I'm trying to see whether anyone's tested this theory or is this just a rumor?
Lightstaff

Actually, this staff DOES stack with Lightsday, for those who havent understood how Lightsday works, its not a 100% +10% Cure Potency for Lightsday, its most likely about 50% chance or so, I have a light staff for my WHM, and Cure4 with it normally heals for 411hp, on Lightsday I've seen occasionally 452hp heals. So for all you people who says Light Staff isnt worth buying for White Mages, ***** you, Light staff saves LOTS of mp for WHM, Cure5 = 608 heal without, 668 with, and as for mp waste for different spells, do Hp heal and divide it with mp cost, you will see that the Cure4 and Cure5 spells are worth casting much earlier than you would believe, and Light Staff makes it even MORE worth it.

There is also rumor (and some proof) that this staff is better for Bards than the Monster Signa. Almost all your offensive/debuff songs are Light based. The 7CHR difference is more than made up by the added Light Damage effect. There are some threads under the bard forums on Killingifrit.com if you want more info.

I'd have difficulty believing this.

I have a dark staff and the dark damage is equivalent to a sporadic extra damage when using it as a melee weapon - much like the fire damage on a flame sword.

This is not a great bonus to your melee ability as a) it does not activate every strike and b) staffs aren't the best thumping sticks anyhow.

There may be a hidden attribute I am not aware of that helps you like that - but the light damage will refer to an en-light effect in melee combat.

He means the hidden effect that enhances the damage dealt by spells, many people think it also affects songs. A bard in my Ls got this staff for that reason but im not sure if hes tested this theory yet.

According to the bst forums this is true. Light staff also helps with any light based spell (ex: charm). Many bsts will take this staff over the monster signa and see a significant increase in their ability to charm reliably. So this is a good whm, bst, and I would asume brd staff.

The Cure +10% Stacks with the +Cure% on other Items (Medicine Ring..) But NOT with lightsday.

It has a hidden Carbuncle -2 Perpetuation Cost Stat (As WHM/SMN that's free carbuncle, add that with an avatar belt and you are Refreshing MP with carbuncle out) It also seems to enhance carbuncle's blood pacts.
Some more info..
# Jun 23 2007 at 10:20 PM Rating: Decent
No, you do not get "Refresh" with negative prepetuation cost. You simply assume this, for what reason I don't know but your assumption is not valid.
