my results: I started skilling up on these at Alchemy 35.... (the guide I have lists this cap at 38).... (Goldsmithing is currently 18) I broke maybe 4 synths otw to 41. and made 2 stacks of pouches. I HQ2'd one synth for 99 bullets (Ice Day Alch41/Gold18) I pretty easy skill up time for me from 33~41 since I started at 33 on Firesand (with advanced imagery support). Sold em both for 140k ea.
Good item for skilling, and/or Corsairs and Thieves wanting to use Guns and Bullets. As a RNG.. I never saw much use for these, but with ranged attack based jobs that can't use a Long Bow, these would probably be a great choice.
These are sold in Rabao as well for as it has been said before around 10K (Galka in back of fishing area). A tight profit of about 10-15K gil can be made by buyNPC/sellingAH these in Lower Jeuno as on most servers they can re-sell for about 20-25K.
Today I logged in and a LS member asks me to make bullets for him, since he knows that I have a pretty decent alchemy and goldsmith skill, 64 Alchemy, 21 Goldsmithing. I figure this would be an easy synth to make for him for free. All he had to do was pay for materials.
So it was Firesday and I thought perfect, maybe I could get some HQ on these. So I started crafting them, first synth, failed, so I thought hmmm, must be bad luck, after all this is my first time doing this Bullet Synth. 2nd try, failed again, 3rd try, failed, now it's getting on my nerve. My skills are higher then the skills listed to do this, yet I just failed 4 times. Pissed off, I keep on synthing using all my fire crystals and some extras.
In total, I just wasted 14 fire crystals, 9 brass ingots, and 4 firesands, and didn't even get 1 successful synth. There has to be someone wrong here. 64 Alchemy and 21 Goldsmithing and not 1 success??? I'm thinking this requires a damn Smithing subskill, not Goldsmithing.
Nevermind, I just realized the mistake I made, in a rush to synth these on Firesday, I bought stacks of bronze ingots instead of brass, therefore all those failures. :(
I need to start lvling Goldsmithing in order to make these but I wonder what is the highest HQ you can make from these if there is an HQ?
Oh, and it ticks me off that this is the only bullet (aside from bronze ><) that theives can use. Dmg. is decent with Deluxe Carbine but I guess I'll have to wait till I can use Carmine and cannon shells /sigh.
on fairy i make a good profit on these without hq them. it costs me 14k for 1 stack of eachingredient.<14k total not each>. After making these i make about 4 stacks considering i dont fail. these sell for about 7-9k a stack well if u do the math. 4 times 8k <average> =32k. that is a 18k profit. just a tip for u alchemist out there.
ps. these sell over night almost as fast as prism powders do in jeuno.
Wow..you have it good. It cost me on Pandemonium 22k for a stack of firesand (14k), crystal (3k) and ignot (7k). I'm better of farming my own material for a bigger profit margin..current sales of bullets going for 8-9k..closer to 8k. I sell on Bazaar at 80/bullet.
AH. If you have the skill, craft them. Even cheaper that way (I can do it now), and since they can't be quivered in any way it's great to be able to craft 33 at a time in the field.
thats wrong you in fact do need goldsmithing at least near 18 so the success rate would be a lot higher. i had 43 alchemy and 12 goldsmithing with alchemy support and i was failing 3 out of 4 tries. so the higher the secondary skill the better success rate. this is now confirmed!

It isn't saying you need goldsmithing to make the components. Some crafted items, especially higher level ones, require multiple craft skills to produce the item. For this you need alchemy and goldsmithing to turn the raw materials into bullets
