This staff is definately overrated i mean -20% Damage take is a WOW if you ask me but it is over priced and it takes away a PLD's most precious tool: his shield. just get the gluttony u can beat it^^ (i still want this staff when i get enough money)

Goliathas 61PLD/31WAR
Midgarsormr
Full AF^^ with Gluttony

How the hell do you find this to be overrated??? Some of the best great swords in the game are PLD only so the loss of the shield can easily be dealt with by PLD's. PlD's don't NEED a sheild to be affective. This staff is WAY better than you're saying it is Goliathas!

What is the cost of this Staff by the way? The stats on it are unbelievable. I will probably just stick with my Gluttony Sword because it took me so long to save for it and I just got it. I assume this costs more. Weighing all the stats it comes close. You have to factor in the DEF from the shield and the amount of blocked attacks plus the other stats the shield provides. I use a Grt sword but only for farming. I would never use it in a PT so thats not even really a valid point IMO. Also if the staff cost an extreme amount that would mean more farming(for me). I will admit my opinion is slightly biased by the fact that I have the Gluttony and don't want to farm right now. But I had to point out some factors you didn't list. With the bonus stats given via AF armor for Shield Bash that is another way to stun certain mobs when they are doing a special attack.
But man what a great weapon that staff seems to be. Maybe one day.

I wouldn't say it's overated, but I wouldn't underrate the Gluttony Sword and Shield combo to make your point. I may edit this once I find out the cost of the staff ...hehe.

oh and with the AF feet you get +10 to "Blocking with Shield" skill...forgot to mention that. All the shield related stats would be wasted. I'm still not saying Gluttony is better at all. Just that it's a lot closer when all things are considered.

One other thing. It says -20% to physical damage. What about elemntal dmg? Spell dmg? hmmm

sad fact is.....cost of items is almost the same as cost of staff....at least on midgard it is.

me and a friend who is a woodworker have been talkin about the price advantage/disadvantage to makin it.

the only plus for him to make it would be advertising...since he would make it with the guild crystal so it would be signed....and i could go advertise by smashing things to bits with it. at the same time...earth bead is like 300k and earth staff is like 330k so profit is nill considering the cost of the other items to make it.
How???
