Trade any crystal to the Crystal looking star at any of the Crags.

i tried trading a crystal to a telepoint but it told me that i should come back with an empty slot. i opened up atleast 4 slots and still i couldn't get the faded crystal.

Actually, you are wrong. It's also used in the Black Mage AF1 quest for the Casting Wand. You have to trade one to the ??? point in Xarcabard, then defeat the Chaos Elemental that appears (NM).

This dull crystal's energy has been completely drained.
this is a rare item. you can't sell it to AH. and you can't use it for synthesis. i haven't checked if this can be sold to vendors.

you can put it up for sale at auction, rare items are sellable. it is EX items that are not
