As someone suggested in the DRK quest ...

When levelling up your Chaosbringer to open the job:
* Buy a stack of these (99)
* Throw one to start each fight with each mob
* When you throw your last one, you only have to kill one more mob to finish the quest!

(Thanks to XantiaNi for the suggestion!)

This isn't sold by the chocobo merchant in Bastok but it is sold by the one in Southern San'doria.

i think the chocobo stables have them if you are from that nation no matter who's in 1st 2nd or 3rd in the conquest
RE: Not in Bastok
# Feb 17 2005 at 12:06 AM Rating: Decent
ummm yes they do sell it at the chocobo merchant in bastok i am looking at it right now it may have something to do with either stock or conquest currently bastok is in first if this helps
RE: Not in Bastok
# Jun 18 2005 at 6:55 PM Rating: Default
Probably conquest. Bastok is always in last, like right now, and i dont see them either.

If it were stock, you could still see the item, just not buy it (correct me if im wrong).

I beleive this is due to your fame in the city, it's in all the cities for me, and i'm hero fame for all cities. I might be wrong, but seems likely to me.

sandy is in last place and its not there><
maybe u have had to sold it to hinm before
RE: Not in Bastok

It cant be the fact that you have had to sell it to him before, otherwise he wouldnt have Chocobo Mazurka available at the Chocobo Stables in Sandy.
yeah, not worth making....

These are not worth crafting, even for skill ups, at least right now, anyway.

On Leviathan, animal glue is selling for a lot right now, 8-9k a stack, depending on the city, but, using the old prices for what it takes to make them (Bone Chip x2 (300-400 (at the cheapest, so we'll assume a price of 200 each)) Distilled water (minimal, 12 gil at the most, price will be used to round out the crystal) and a rabit hide (100)+ Fire Crystal (200)) = 700 gil to craft the glue (save 50 gil each over 9k/stack), plus Wind Crystal (roughly 150, rounded with choco feathers) and 100 for the fang, your looking at a price of about 950 a synth, or 115 gil/dart, 11 times the cost from an NPC. So, to craft a stack and sell it on the AH (sells for 500-1k) it will cost you roughly 11k. 10k lost on 12 synths at that level is horrible! I think I'll stick with capes and hamachis for a 100-200 gil lose selling on the AH over that, thank you very much.

Just go to your friendly choco stable merchant, and pick up stacks for 990 gil. Twice the cost of arrows at that level, but none the less very nice for leveling throwing. Remeber, to skill up, you just have to hit, no need to deal any damage.

If you're WAR or THF, skip these and buy a Coarse Boomerang. You can level it at Lv. 6 instead of 7, and the savings on stacks will help a *lot*.

The only reason I buy these is for NM claims on mobs that I'd have to use ranged attacks for, since nothing is faster.
Nice Range

I've noticed I can throw darts with my Ninja even further than I can fire a waxed bow with my Red Mage.
Darts
# Jun 23 2004 at 10:46 AM Rating: Default
Darts yield 8, and the only reason anyone bothers with making them is to raise their Clothcraft skill. Any Darts that I actually want to use (say for leveling my NIN) I buy from the Choco Stables in WindWoods.
ranged macro
# Jun 12 2004 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
Macro for shooting stuff is as follows:
/shoot <stnpc>

tag at the end will allow you to pick any NPC for the target. Will work for anything involved with ranged. Have fun. o^.^o

So, yeah, dumb question time.

I just bought some of these but can't throw them.

I've tried Cntl+D and /throw but nothing happens. Do I need a blow gun or something to use these?

I'm using WASD as my keyboard config.

I'm really stumped and I know it's gonna be a really obvious answer.
....
Oh yeah, i'm using it for my lvl 13 RDM

S.E. disabled the Ctrl+D COMMMAND around the easter egg event to help limit the number of people who accidently tossed away their hard earned lucky eggs. Go to Commands under keyboard config and you can set "Ranged Attack" to Ctrl+D or any other key you so see fit.
RE: Dumb question
# Jun 11 2004 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
1st, u need to equip them @ your ammo slot
2nd, when u ready to use it... (set a marco would be nice!!) /throw <t>

I don't know if u can use /throw "Dart" <t>

RE: Dumb question

Even if this recipie does make 33 darts each time.

Animal Glue = 300 gil in AH (aprox)
1 Bat Fang = 200 gil in AH (aprox)
2 chocobo feathers = 14 gil (with my fame at least)

Meaning it'd cost 514gil for the compents of just 33 darts, meaning it'd cost you 1542 gil to make 99 darts(that's if you succeed each time), when you can just (at least I can) buy them for about 1000 gil for 99 at the guy in wind woods.

But making an item that costs more to make than it does to just buy them from a vendor?

Priceless
RE: Cost
# Jul 09 2004 at 2:54 PM Rating: Decent
people usually make Darts to raise their Clothcraft Skill not to save money. People may use them after they make them but they make them to lvl clothcraft.
RE: Cost
# May 04 2004 at 1:39 PM Rating: Decent
thats why you should farm your own materials instead of being lazy.

That's pointless... as you've seen, he priced out the materials... if you farm your own materials to make them then you're undercutting yourself. You could sell those materials and then buy more darts than you could have made, where's the savings? To me it looks like you actually just wasted time farming things.

It's like this for all low-level craft items. I only found a profitable alchemy recipe at level 21, and hopefully another one at lvl28 which I haven't tried yet.

Well, considering they were just recently upgraded to a stack of 99 instead of 12, either the info is right, and Square didn't change it, or the info WAS right, and needs to be updated :P
