Rumor has it that these bolts, as well as dispelling defense buffs, also reduces the monsters defense by 12.5% for about 1 minute or so. From what i can tell it doesn't stack.
well i was told these were the best way to make money as a woodworker.. maybe the alchemist also found this out cos its 110k a stack atm on UNICORN for acid boltheads.. is this a normal accurance on all servers?
110k for heads.. hope for 3 stacks of quivers.. that sell for 40k each..
wheres the big profit? o.O
ive been making Venom bolts they have a 150k profit right now.. sell slowly though.. someone help me out here?
feel free to call me a noob if i have missed something lol
For those of you who don't know, this dispels Defense boosts on mobs. So you don't always need a brd or rdm to dispel when fighting mobs that use those anoying defense boosting abilities.
Absolutely my favorite money maker ^^ fairly cheap to make you can profit for all NQ syth's even. But being way over the cap 99 90% of the time is awsome money made.
No, it does not. You can confirm this by firing 3 or 4 of these bolts, notice the dmg of the bolts after the defense down activations doesnt increase past that? It doesnt do 20, then 30, then 40, then 50, etc.
Yes, thf can use these. I have been using them for quite some time. As far as I can tell, sometime last year there was an update to give thf the ability to use certain crossbows and most bolts. Currently the only two bolts I am aware of that thf can not use are Holy bolts and crossbow bolts. All the other status bolts (Sleep, Acid, Drain, and Venom) are thf friendly. The picture you are seeing is an old one. Someone should get a screen shot of the current acid bolt to help remove the confusion. These are some of the best bolts for thf:)
Oh, they are... On bats in Garlaige Citadel, my Horn Arrows with up-to-date Bow+1 I'm hitting for around 80 dmg... With Zamburak+1 and Holy Bolts, I hit for about 70+30 to 70+50 every time. (The +# is Holy Bolt additional effect)
Luckily, unlike most things in the game, the additional effects on Bolts are wonderfully abundant. I estimate around 90-95% of the time, which makes Sleep / Bloody bolts totally amazing.

This recipe became Rank-B at lvl 13. I manufactured about 9 stacks of these (roughly 27 successful synths) with less than 3 breaking between woodcraft lvl 14 and 16. It stopped raising my skill at lvl 16.
To any rangers out there who one day aspire to use a gun here is my advice: Get a crossbow and use these as soon as possible. Acid bolts are wonderful wonderful things, their additional effect triggered for me on close to everytime I did not miss the monster. By the end of fights my shots would be hitting roughly 10 to 30 points harder depending on my accuracy rate and the length of the fight. If all bolts have this high of additional effect trigger rates then holy bolts could be weapons of doom for monsters weak against light.
