I have now gotten this earring. I went 1/5 with RDM62/NIN31. Not a very tough fight as long as you dont get more than 1 link.
Without link he never got me below 900/1058 hp.

Easy kill by the way got an EM goblin add when i pulled.
By the time we killed the EM goblin, Mysticmaker Profblix
was nearly half death by my Flying Mantra pet.
this is now a 100% drop rate. i have farmed this for most of the linkshell mages now, its dropped over 25/25 give or take. not once has it not dropped in the last 3 months. So... under that proof, its 100% drop in my eyes. Happy Hunting.

BTW I got the *******.
Was bored and tired of farming for Cockatrice Meat in the Champaign. So I decided to give LoO a shot with TH3 75 THF/RNG. Birds took way too long to down so I gave up and started to run out. I then decided to see what NM's were in there. Saw the gobs name there, searched it online and found it dropped this earring. Thought meh why not. Soloed him with nearly no problems. It loves to spam tier II spells and didn't seem to stop even near the end which lead me to believe he's got a TON of mp. Watch out for the Ancient Magic. Also loves aga spells so don't bother with /nin. Watch out for gob adds if you're lower level. Thought to myself, if Wyvern poacher was any indication, I'll need to come back again. Fortunately it wasn't the case and the earring dropped along with gob armour, mask, and Thunder III. Then I see the forums on how essentially sexy this earring is. Guess I'll breath life back into BLM...

Well turned level 47 last night, so was really excited too go kill profblix for my moldavite earring.... went to LoO alone, waited around until i saw profblix pop, realised i'd need help, so I found a 72 WHM that was in there killin cockatrice's for meat.. he invited me to pt and we started attackin it... well it was kickin the WHM's *** big time and it also casted stongega II and another aga spell that killed me, so after i died, i called a LS friend (75 RDM), and she got their just in time to raise me and save the WHM, and WHOOPED profblix's ***.
and I got the drop 1/1 we also got a scroll of thunder 3 and few other things... I guess im lucky lol.
NOTE --- Even though it says he is level 50... just keep in mind he was whoopin the crap out of a 72 whm so keep that in mind anyone out there goin to solo make sure you have some DD cause he has ALOT of HP ^^

Okay, I finally got this darn earring after six attempts. A couple of times someone took claim from me. Needless to say, this R/E earring was stressful! After I saw the green text of "moldavite earring", it was a sigh of relief! No TH, and moon was as 31%. I honestly didn't think I would get it this time.
Oh, and don't judge all the campers right away. Before he was due to pop, 4 people showed up. I was losing my confidence but then the 75 WHM wanted to help me out. I told his 50 BLM friend that I been there for 2 hours, and most people don't give a crap about that. But the WHM was really nice and helped me kill it. I invited them and made myself quartermaster, and then I got it ^.^ (btw, he solo'ed it) I'm 1/6 on this NM, but don't give up! The earring is well worth it and it's nice when people examine you :P Happy hunting.

1/1 on profblix as a 70RDM/NIN with the help of my 75THF friend. THF mugged him for 3.3k, and we each got 4.4k for the win. He also dropped Thunder IV, which npcs for about 10k and sells at AH on Fairy for about the same. So in a way, you can see how this is somewhat lucrative for RMT to camp, as it is a quick spawn and not many are camping it.

Very happy to get this earring the first time. What's funny is this fight was actually a little more stressful than the Maat fight. At least this gob hit me!

I had helped my linkshell out two nights camping this earring, we were lucky and got the drop first time for each mage. The next week I was farming cockatrice meat, just running around having some fun. I noticed that there were two players camping the earring site and figured he was due to pop soon. I went into the room with all the Manta type mobs and suddenly im being attacked by Peg Powler, I quickly called my NPC, level 65 S.Healer, Liabelle, and proceed to fight one of the toughest battles of my long Van a diel career. I was level 68 Dragoon 34 White Mage at the time. Due to great support from my companion Lia and my Wyvern buddy, Lady, I was extremely fortunate to win the fight and also get the Schwarz axe drop. Heading out of the laberinth I see the two players still at the drop site but they had been joined by a certain Goblin NM he was standing there unclaimed, I waited for a couple of minutes to see if the other people would claim their prize but they never bothered even looking at the NM, so i took the chance and sure enough, warmed up and ready to go from the previous battle, I killed it in short order and yes i got the earring. What a day, I was one very happy player.

I was also 1/12. I got it Saturday night (2008-03-15) with help from a thief friend with TH3 - moon phase was also 98%
Make sure to go update ffxiclopedia.org on Mysticmaker's page for what your final drop rate was. My runs against him made the drop rate fall by 2.5% which is good - 30% seemed a bit ridiculous on this earring after going 1/12.

2/2 on this Gobbie. (Since I restarted playing in 06. Won't talk about my failures back in the day in 04. :P)
1st drop was sheer luck a few months ago. Me (RDM) 70 something Coralee, my GF, (PLD) 50 something and Ryoohk (BLM) 75. We had an afternoon of time to kill so we headed down to LoO and figured we'd camp ze ol' gobbbie. Low and behold ran into the room where it spawns and Mysticmaker is just standing there picking its nose. PLD 'voked, BLM -ga 3'd it do death, I think I cured the PLD maybe once or twice due to Manafont + Burst. Dropped Earring some gil and assorted Thunder spells. Score me a Moldy earring!
2nd drop was this past Sunday. Headed down to LoO out of sheer boredom to kill Chest key mobs to pop a chest for map. Just two folks running laps farming cockatrices, no one camping Gobbie. Coralee (PLD now 75) and Me (RDM 75) camped it for maybe 1.5-2.25 hours until Mystic popped. Coralee 300% Spirits Within'd the NM and was massively resisted, she pretty much just meleed it down to 30-40% left at which point I Chainspelled Bliz. 3'd it down for fun. :P It didn't 2 hour this time. NM dropped Moldy earring for Cora's now 22 BLM, Thundaga 3, Gobbie mask, armor and 3000g!
Good luck to all those camping the NM. The NM does not have a place holder, it spawns independently of the 3 other Gobbies in the room, so you can actually just stand there and not kill a thing and it will pop between 1.5-2.5hrs after its last ToD.

I have been camping this guy off and on for about a week during my downtime. Let me start out by saying that I am amazed at how many people still camp this NM! Even RMT were camping it on some days (not sure why unless people were paying them or they needed it for their army of /anon tarutaru BLM's. There were normally 2-5 people camping this guy at any given time.
I logged in this morning hoping that I would get lucky after a dissapointing dropless claim the night before. I was rushing to get ready for work, brushing my teeth, had my bath water running and had breakfast in the toaster. To my SURPRISE there were about 25 people camping this guy (all in the same Japanese LS)! I thought there was no way I would be able to get the claim if he did pop so I just went on with my regular business.
I finished with my bath and was all ready for work when I sat down at my computer to eat my toast. BAM! He pops! I quickly hit F8 then provoke, he turns red! Out of a sea of people..... He's mine!
This is where things get interesting. I normally have no problem with this guy.... but today I did. I start hacking away at him and out of no-where comes another goblin quickly taking out my shadows. I quickly use Mighty Strikes and proceed to rampage when Mysticmaker somehow manages to sleep me while my shadows were down. By this time he had used Manafont and started casting Freeze.
This is what pisses me off, the goblin who managed to take out my shadows now can't seem to land a single hit to wake me from my slumber. Next thing you know.... FREEZE!
By this time my Mighty Strikes had worn off. I quickly get my shadows back up and Rampage. He uses another ~aga spell. I use Ichi and pray that I kill him before he and the other gob take out my last 3 precious shadows.
Somehow, whether it be luck, skill or whatever I kill Mysticmaker Profblix and the link all while being IN THE RED! I now have a pretty green earring as a momento, reminding me to never give up!
I would just like to thank all the people who witnessed this event. If it weren't for you guys not sending me a single cure or helping with the add, I would not be telling this story today. /cheers

Man, we got so lucky on this, 3 of us decided to try to get the earring for my boyfriend, 73 rdm, 75 blm, and 62 or so pld. My boyfriend had tried many many times before, but was either beaten by the claim, was too low to solo it (a looong time ago), or it didn't drop. We decided randomly to go see if he would pop, there were a ton of people in the zone, alot of them camping him. We ran through the maze, got to the room, and lo and behold there he was, and nobody was around. We ran to him, claimed him, and all the campers ran back into the room, apparently they cleared the room and left to fight other stuff while waiting for him to pop. What was even better luck was that it dropped! Now that's my kind of NM camping ;)
1/2 on this. Easily soloable by a high level summoner. (My S.O.'s summoner worked wonders with just carbuncle at level 75.)
Drop rate appears to be pretty high, however it's possible that it was just luck. As said below, don't worry about the links so much until after the NM is dead. It sucks to lose claim to other people camping it.

dont bother with the links,rmt's will steal your claim if you sleep the adds.dia isnt a claiming tool anymore,it will not gain enough hate to claim the mob.
i subbed warr on my red and went anon,the rmt's were quite suprised at my voke.i also didnt sleep the add's i figured mystic would die b4 me,and if i died from an add i didnt care id get the earing or wouldnt.i suggest para b thrown on mystic and mayb some ice spikes to para the adds.
i got my earing at 65 red solo,with 3 adds bashing on my head.12 hrs of camping,well worth the effort.
what i find real annoying is seeing a camper thats killed it 5-6 times in a row,think they own the nm since they havent gotten the drop yet.mayb you suckiee and should let another get a shot?

RMT are always getting banned or creating new characters, so often they camp it to get an earring for those low characters. It's not always camped like that, but often enough to notice.
As for drop rates, I've gone about 3/5 on it so far without TH. Not sure what the actual rate is but it's not that horrible

I HAVE CAMPED THIS ******* FOR HMMM 16 TIMES GOT CLAIM 9 AND HAD A 70THF FOR 3 CLAIMS AND WELL NO DROP... THAT'S RIGHT 0/9 AND IM CAMPING IT AGAIN IN ABOUT 1 HOUR LOL IF I GET IT I WILL REPOST!
Am I the odd the one out? It seemed like from most people posts that the drop rate is almost 100%... I'll try again later but the thing was hard to claim lots of other campers there. I got it on my 6th hour of waiting...about 3rd pop. Does anyone know the drop percentage on the earring?

Unless they changed it, it isn't anywhere 100%. I got it on my eighth claim.

I was camping this every night, going through the hassle of finding party when I finally caught my break. I am really interested in this treasure and I was thinking I would never obtain it. A friend and I went to labyrinth of Onzozo and to my amazement Mysticmaker Probflix was just sitting around smoking cigarettes and no one was around to claim him.
It was myself BLM 58 and DRK 68 and we engaged him. We had him so easy I was just curing the DRK and he was DD until we got super aggro (I was so stupid I should have kept buffing us with sneak/invis) we were about to die until my DRK friend kills Mystic and to my amazement I see that the earring dropped.
I wanted him to HP so I would get the earring but I told him to late and the computer started to distribute the treasure to us dead people and I ended up getting the earring! I was really lucky if the computer gave it to him it would have sucked so much. THANK YOU SKIDOO SORRY FOR DEATH LOL
So we walked in got the claim and treasure all in 5 minutes. I'm so greatful.

Yay!It was my 1st time camping NM!
I'm 59 RDM/BLM and my ls friends that helped from Darkdestiny on Alexander were 70+. First time 2 others camping it for 15 from ToD and a lvl 70 RDM solos it. I was looking the other way when it spawned, and Shinta and Fatlord couldn't target because it spawned behind a rock....Oh well I was bummed and went about my night. I was happy they helped clean the room of mobs and thought NM hunting wasn't that bad.
When 3:45am rolls around and my ls friend Lowlevel convinces my other ls friend Blainka to stay up and go with me since we knew ToD. She was in Jeuno so I RAN from Whitegate > Warp Taru > Qufim Isle > Lower Jeuno > Mea > Chocobo > Onzozo. We got to camp at 4:02 and it was supposed to spawn at 4:04. I was relieved but not exacly because one of the groups was there from the previous camp and 1 or 2 more were there too. Idk how long we waited maybe 10 min but Blainka got the claim! I somehow got aggro from a Cockatrice and tried really really hard not to die but WOW people were nice that were camping the NM too and killed it. /cheer nice people! I Dia>Blind>Silence and whatever else I did to the gob while /bow A LOT in the middle of my casting time to the the people that killed the Cockatrice. I tried to cure Blainka because her Sleep stuck once out of the idk how many times she cast it. She told me to nuke and then I Refreshed her and was basically out of mp. She was almost dying, my Refresh wore; and the mob was near death so I meleed him till he died. I lotted the Moldavite Earring, she sneak & inv me and then we ran the heck out of there! Not the prettiest NM fight but we did it. Thank you everyone that helped. I am very grateful!

Being 70 RDM it woulda bee nice to get this earring to i go to th labyrinth and stand around for about an hour0 and once he poped a RMT got him. I set a stop watch and came back like an hour later. but this time i was ready with a drk and a thf right when we get there about 30 ppl show up. not really 30 but u know. He finally pops and my drk friend got claim with stun and everyone there started yelling. We got the earring and a few spells. We went to camp OSE and 5 hours later he pop only to not drop the AJ guess u cant go 1/1 on everything

All i gotta say about your 1/1 on Ose. YOU ARE EXTREMELY LUCKY~! i was 1/17 on that SOB with a THF with TH3 everytime i camped it.... well gratz on your good luck, and feel priveleged to have gotten it so easily ^^.

funny i never knew OSE drop a Kote >.> if you were looking for kicks you got em. Oh and LoO dops Kraken Hose now, lv56 MNK occasionaly kicks 2-8 times
