So me and my best friend decide to go camp this monster because we are bored. So we go in and camp for about 30 minutes and it pops. Friend (75 blm) stuns it for the claim! We start fighting and when it's down to 1% life, i use my ws on it and to finish it off and it dropped on first try! A smn offered my friend 1 million gil if it dropped, but friendship > gil...especially on asura XD gl to the rest of you!
well i got a story on my Moldy earing, i camped for 5hrs.... ny friend comes home from work i go get here help me camp the Moldy earing, he goes ok brt. Then the ppl start showing up, im like ok... so my friend gets his thf friend, he comes i get my RDM friend to come, so keep things short, by the time all my friends came total of 4 including me, the other dude that was a friend of mine that wanted tat same earing had 10+ ppl helping him to get the earing... were like he brought a damn army for this nm, he had a drg 4 mnks blm whm and war and most likely another mnk woundering about. so it was my group of 4 vs his Army of 10+ ppl... any who the mob pops, half of them r busy fighting off the other goblins, the thf in our group got the claim with his cross bow im like 0.0 nice, the other group of 10 where like >.> how the hell they got the claim and they were mad lol, it was funny, and we killed the mob and got the earing and thunder iv to drop that was my first time ever camping that nm gob so that makes me 1/1 :D all the thanks go out to the other 3 ppl that helped me ^^ u guys rock! and thats my Moldy earring story on how the group of 4 defeated the army of 10+ ppl ^^

Well, I thought about canping this thing, since I'm lvling BLM and it would be cool to have one rdy. I head to the labyrinth, and set myself up. 2 other campers, 1 of em seemingly AFK. The person who was running around killing stuff got lucky and claimed. I was standing.... watching... then the person goes "Red Dot", I start spamming voke from menu on the gob, the person DCs, I get NM (1/4 of it's life left too) and the DROP FTW! Poor WHM got back 5 min later XD

i was 70mnk/war and wanted this for my 66blm so i came out camped it for about 2hours got claim with 8 other campers(i <3 chi blast) anyway i claimed started smokein him only hit me 3-6times and that was for 30ish fight didnt last long i got 2 ws off and almost a 3ed i got 15exp 6k gil a gobbymask a scroll of thunder2 and a gobby armor meh i guess better luck next time his magic almost klled me. he hit me with some AM for 500ish thunder2 for 200ish and stonaga3 for 470ish but i lived and a rdm was nice enough to thow some cures on me all and all it was a goodtime and a long baddy told story >.>

first time fighting it and i got the earring! lucky me. Soloed it as a 64rdm/32blm. fight was going fine until near the end where i picked up a link, and profblix decides to cast freeze. it ripped thru my stoneskin and did 700 damage (left me with 220HP... close one!). at that point, i cured, chainspell'd/converted, and decided to end it with a few nukes. slept the link, and the rest is history.
Yay! today december the 27th i got it :D thanks to all who really helped me ^^*

Yesterday i had my first run on moldavite's earring.... had to wait 2 hours and died 3 times but.... no drop >< ????ing selfish goblin, atm i'm 0/1 and i know i shouldnt complain cuz i've read there's ppl who are 0/18 so far, so it could turn as an horrendous experience T.T.

i just got this 2 days ago i was a 52 blm/whm and that is my highest job, so i asked my ls for help.

I camped him today for the first time popped in 10 mins, and dropped the earring along with Thunder IV Scroll. I am very excited :D
I'm 2/4 on this, just got mine on Saturday.
1st drop was another RDM's claim.
I've solo'd (2) times, 65-RDM/THF (no drop) and 65-RDM/WAR (dropped).
I lev my NPC in the pop area, so if your on my server and I'm in there, let me know if you need help.

I've killed him 6 times, and got the drop on my last time. My experience has been a little different from yours. Can pop anywhere from 2-2.5hrs after death, however, most pops for me where at 2:15 & 2:30.
I fought him as a 75 BST with a CC jug, and I didn't have any problems with him, even when all 3 of the nearby gobs linked. I know it's a little different for me because I have a jug pet, but I still think any 75 melee should be able to take him down w/o too much trouble.
Also, I thought he was actually easiest on the fight when I got the drop. All of the previous fights I got to 100 TP by the end to use at least one rampage, however in this fight he dropped when I was around 70% TP.
Anyway, good luck to all who camp this guy. Don't give up. I went 0/5 in one day camping, and got discouraged, then last night I show up to level my NPC and he pops on right in fron of me. I get the claim, and a nice new toy^^

Yesterday I tried soloing the NM for this to get it for my blm. I went as 70whm/nin. I get there it pops beat a 63blm named Lycos he had a rdm and drg with him. So im fighting near the end the NM's HP only needed 5-6 more hits and it would die and all it needed to do was cast one spell on me. I /say Help me out! Cure Please, it starts casting Firaga at this time it's HP is 1-2 more hits and it dies. . so Lycos and the other 2 dont cure me like jackasses i die Lycos, the blm, casts fire on it, it dies, i d-lvl from 70 -> 69. -.- really pissed me off

I've killed this thing 7 times through out my BLM career, and yeah still NO MOLDAVITE. eeek 71 levels w/o it. lol
Atleast I know I can solo him now and not have to call in back up and waste their time too. ~.^
He always drops the same stuff too lol

I got mine 1st try and when i arrived, it was completely free for me to take. I am only a 60RDM/27BLM an not so great equipment. I also decided to help Osopi from my LS, and we ended up gettin more help jus for fun, got his Moldy on the next one^^ 2/2 baby!! all 1st attempts. jus had to brag real fast, dont hate u geeks lol[Red][/Red]

Does any one know if you have to have the skill for this earring to work? i wanna try it out with my NIN for fun and Ballista when i hit lvl 47

This is untrue i have camped Mysticmaker 30 or more times with 12 seperate people and one for myself. The placeholder is Goblin Miner they spawn every (15 minutes and something seconds) if Mysticmaker spawns they will not spawn but all the others will. a.k.a hunters, bouncers, ecc.
I would like to point out that you will never see a Goblin Miner and mystic maker spawn in the same 15 minute time frame.
Now this may have been changed that there is a placeholder after the update but i've been camping him since post patch and would like to point out do not open ur mouth unless you have first hand experience not hear say.
Some quick tips:
1. Mysticmaker Spawns 20 seconds after the normal time a goblin miner should spawn this is a good way to know when he'll spawn.
2. Mysticmaker will spawn 2hrs and 15min to 2hrs and 30 minutes not 2hrs to 2.5
2. He will 2hr at 50-65% life and will cast spells right after the other like a desperate noob trying to beat a Tough mob. Best strategy for this is wait till he starts casting ancient or a large aga and just run outa range he will be interrupted.

Spawned 2 hours and 4 minutes after last kill last night, so this information is incorrect.
And before you ask, yes, I got the ToD myself and camped myself, so I'm certain it was 2 hours 4 minutes.

Actually the guy you quoted is right. Was killing mystic the other day and the miner poped next to him when we were fighting.

I have spent the last few hours personally testing this Earring out. +5 Magic Attack Bonus, Aero III with this Earring on Bumblebees in Sarutabaruta deal 546 without the earring and 567 with the earring solid. No change in either of the 2 in over 100 bumblebees.
Basically I learned the Earring adds 21 dmg to my Tier 3 Aero or 3.84%. I performed the test with no other gear. So its not adding terribly too much damage but its more than you would get from 2 int. On my Tier 3 nukes I notice 1 INT becomes 2 DMG.

I'm happy and want to tell my story here :)
I'm Vyce, a Sandorian Elvaan on Fenrir server. I play since September and Redmage is my main job from the begining (I'm 62Rdm/37smn).
I spent the last 2weeks camping this NM, I was a little depressed, thought I cannot solo this mob under level 65 or 70. I shouted for 5hours in jeuno (in a row) sending tells, asking people for help : no answer. After the maintenance I rushed in jeuno (there was like 400 people in the server) and found Jubeii level 72 Sam and a 60 taru Rdm, they needed money so they helped me, we got the tele-mea, and headed to onzozo. There we found Rah a 70ish Rdm already camping the NM. I thought we would just arrive and see Mysticmaker, no we had to wait 2hours. I got the claim... with /ma "Dia" <t> >_< . We killed Profblix but no drop after a 3hours+ camp that killed me ; ; I gave jubeii some gils and all the drops for the time he waited.
Then I stayed in Onzozo for 1 week non-stop, and was like 1/15 claim, waiting for hours without even being able to fight the gob is so frustrating. I saw some Bots, and some other real players with Voke (my war is level7 >_<), kinda faster than Dia. Well long story shorts: how did I got the earring.
This Morning I woke up, took some coffee, my ceremonial cigarette, watched some news on forums. Logged without any hope of having a good time on FFXI.I was in onzozo, at the entrance, I casted Invi/sneak then headed to the Mysticmaker Profblix spot. Onzozo was overcrowded... by mobs O.O (an exp party of level 66 near Ose + a BST leveling solo). I walked and... OMG like I'm having a heartattack O.O the NM was roaming peacefully, it's name was Yellow, I rushed and casted Dia... big... big mistake >_< Invi dropped... Cockatrices and Mushus aggroed me.. I trained like 20+ mobs at the zone (I'm sorry again for the BST, he survived but I hope he didn't thought about MPK ; ;) in Buburimu I had about 100HP :D Cure IV convert refresh Cure IV cure IV stoneskin and I zoned again, crossing my fingers. As I enter all mobs are on their way back to their spot, but no mystic O.O . I invi/sneak rush to it's spot.. and it was still here, walking in yellow in the center of the room ^_^; I Dia II him and melee him to death in a desert corridor. It was a very, very easy fight. Only things I had to do was casting Stonskin 10 times :D
Well I shouted on the LS log :D "I GOT IT I GOT IT I GOT IT" hehehe.
That's it. I was very lucky, and maybe i'm finally a good player, I have Sword/Enfeebling/Elemental capped. Here is how I was dressed to fight him :
- Royal Guard Fleuret (had no time to switch to Crimson Blade)
- Darkstell Buckler
- 2 Ziron rings / 2Cunning Earrings
- Full RDM's AF (had not the time to swap my Legs for the Magic Cuisses)
- Royal Knights Belt
- Red Cape+1
- Promise badge
- Happy Egg ^_^
I have ~1100HP and 550MP, entered the fight with about 400MP.
I think this mob is soloable by lower Jobs, if you can avoid aggro from the ***** and gobs around.

Well I finally got mine. I've lost every claim whenever I've camped him. This time I lost the claim too but still got the earing. How? I hear you ask. Well, I was waiting around the spawn area on my own (73 Blm) with 2 other campers (75 Thf and 75 Whm) who were clearing the other gobs while waiting. After about 30mins we were joined by a Rdm/War (not sure what lvl.) Anyway, so Mystikmaker popped a few mins after the Rdm came so I used my stun macro and just as I started casting the Rdm/War voked him grrr. So I decided to buff up (Blink, Stoneskin, Aquaveil) and watch just incase the Rdm dies. After a min or so the gob uses manafont and starts casting AM. The Rdm proceeds to run out of range. Good idea I hear you say. Well, he must have disengaged aswell cos Mystikmaker went yellow and without thinking twice I stunned and got him. Rdm was not impressed (understandably) and I promptly got a slap. Anyway, I went on to solo him even with 2 links (thankyou Aquaveil), got the drop, slept the links, gave a quick /hurray and warped my *** back to jeuno.
To the Rdm who I stole him off, I'm very sorry I stole your claim but I had been down there longer than you and as far as I'm concerned a yellow Mob is fair game. Hope you get yours soon and I'd be more than happy to help. Just /tell me.
