My friend was just wandering if this was any good for a blm or should they stick to earrings like the morion earring? Also could a drk get any use outta it?

i have heard the magic attack bonus only affects blm or blm subbed job. So a rdm/whm would not receive the effect, can anyone confirm whether this is true?
RE: attk bonus blm trait
# Sep 14 2004 at 12:59 PM Rating: Decent
Absolutley not true. It is a necessity for the maat fight for RDM. It's kind of useless for WMG but can be OK for DRK even though +ACC earrings would be better for them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 20 2004 at 11:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its WHM not WMG, by lvl 67 i would expect you to learn that, anyways, this earing is a must for blms, too bad you can only get one :(

Ugh why do you fools bother to nitpick on this site, WMG he meant as white magic...not WHM white mage...geez people, find something better to do with your time.

i'm pretty sure he meant white mage.. since he indicated dark knight later... but then, i dont really care =P

The spawn delay is exactly 2hours. Got it 3/4 with my ls this weekend. Make sure you kill the placeholders (goblin hunters, enchanters, bouncers, miners).

---> ~Moldavite Earring: A Guide~ <---
By Ragnard X. Hocklebuns III

I. ---- Intro ----
Sick and tired of that lacking MB damage? Looking for a little more ice in that freeze? Want to dazzle relatives and impress coworkers? The Moldavite Earring is for you! All it takes is one NM-call! Just dial up our sales associate, Mr. Mysticmaker Profblix, and get yours today for 1 or more easy payments of 1-2 hours of intense camping!

But wait! There's more! Act now, and you could receive one of these amazing bonus gifts, yours free with a Mysticmaker Profblix kill:
*Goblin Armor
*Burst
*Thundaga
*Thundaga III
*Thunder III
*Thunder IV
*Loads o' Sweet Cash!

WOW! with deals like these, how can you pass up this once-every-two-hours opportunity?? Here's what we'll do:
-Get some help
-Go to the spawn site in Onzozo
-Go to the spawn room, and clear it.
-Build TP, and wait for the pop!
-Claim Mysticmaker Profblix and Destroy him! <3
-Dealing with competition without being a jerk. @.@

II. ---- Who to get to help ----
Mysticmaker Profblix isn't too tough. I saw a 69BLM and 53BLM duo him. I've trio'ed him 60BLM/WHM (me), 60RDM/NIN (Aust), and 61THF/NIN (Prudan). But I can honestly say that if you want to make this easy, and you don't have friends who are amazing players and friends (to give up the time for you), then you'll really want to get a more full party. Most people camp this guy with high level help in twos or threes, or Solo as mid 60's RDMs. It doesn't have to be this way. A full party of 58's will be able to take him down easily, but it might get a bit complicated because the spawn room is a bit hairy.

Getting help on this is also kinda rough because y'don't really get any super-valuable drops from Mysticmaker Profblix that you don't want for yourself (the scrolls), so luring your friends might be tough. The only thing I can offer is that if one person camps him, the other people can go farm cockatrices for their expensive meat (we camped for 3 hours once and got a few stacks @ ~15k each)

If you really want to get this done, and can't lure your friends with cockatrice meat sales, then go help out on:
-PLD AF3
-THF AF3
-RDM AF3
Yes, it's a pain in the butt to go on these long alliance quests, but if you can call in favors for this item, it'd be worth it.

II. ---- Where to go ----
Get a Teleport-Mea, and head to the Labrynth of Onzozo. If you've never been there, just head from Tahrongi Canyon to Buburimu Peninsula. Once you're there, the zone to Onzozo is a tunnel on the North edge of the Mighoya Dunes beach, position (K-6).

When you're in Onzozo, you'll need to invis up. Both Gobs and Cockatrices aggro sight. If you have a map, head to (I-9) on the first map. If you haven't got a map, follow the tunnel for a bit. It'll curve left. Take your first right, and follow a short distance until you're in a large, open room with a formation of stones in the middle. This is the general area that Mysticmaker Profblix will spawn. Here is a Map courtesy of LS-EternalForce.

III. ---- Clearing the Spawn Area ----
This NM is not a lottery pop. He is just a (approximately) 2 hour and 15 minute delayed pop. This means that he will appear ~2:15 (RL time) after he was last killed. So if you get there and he's not there, you have between 1 and 134 minutes to wait (give or take a few).

There isn't a need to clear the room to force his spawn. But it really won't hurt. Under the assumption that you are going to get aggro from the cockatrices or goblins that spawn around this, I would suggest taking the mobs one at a time to clear some space. They will probably repopulate before Mysticmaker Profblix spawns, so you may have to kill them again. Here's what you'll find:
-Cockatrice - Aggro but not linking. Based on Earth, weak to Wind. Sight detecting.
-Goblins - Aggro, Linking, Sight detecting. These guys aren't too big a deal, except for Goblin Enchanters, who are RDMs. They'll dispel your buffs, and put up a good fight. Still not too bad though. Weak to light.

IV. ---- Camping and Claiming ----
Here's the hard part.
This guy is very camped. You'll rarely waltz into Onzozo to find him alive and well. Usually there will be at least one other group trying to kill him. Don't yield the spawn to that group. You have just as much a right to camp him as that other group. If they say otherwise, know that GM's are on your side, because you're playing by the rules. Please though, be polite. If they beat you to the spawn, don't slap them 20 times. A nice /bow to the one that got it is nice. Congratulate them afterward if they got the drop. But if they're unprepared, and they underestimate him...let 'em die. This is mean, and I sound like a huge jerk. But if you get into trouble, don't expect help from anyone else. If you've ever taken down an outdoor NM like Steelfleece or Lumberjack, you'll know that a crowd of people on chocobos with plenty of healing MP ready will watch your HP bar, ready to dismount and take the kill. Play nice, but play aggressive. :D

As Rune64 pointed out, there are two options: (a) spam a stun macro -or- (b) select the spell and wait for a valid target. You'll want to use Stun regardless, since it's your fastest casting claim-spell, while subbing RDM for fast-cast if possible.

(a) Make a spammable stun macro:
/target <stnpc> <----- targets nearest npc
/ma "Stun" <t> <----- casts stun on that target
Have your friends clear the room, while you sit there tapping the macro over and over and over. (and over). Note that you'll stun anything that comes near you, so have your party pull the mobs away from you if you stun a cockatrice or gob.

(b) "Although the macro method is adequate, i've found that the most optimal way to claim him is by being sure you have nothing targetted, then going into your Magic menu, and highlight the Stun spell and continue to click/press enter/press X.. it will give you the 'beep' because there is no valid target, however if a target pops it will be immediately targetted and the spell cast. This will win hands down in a battle of macro vs. button spam of the Stun spell via magic menu." -Thanks to RuneSixtyFour who added this a few posts down ^^

This is only necessary if there is competition there. Beware of invisible campers who are waiting to catch you off guard. ^^

If players are rude to you when you claim, don't respond. Take the gobbie down, get the drops, and then you can talk. Be polite. If they are too rude for you to let it slide, call a GM. Remember, if you call a GM, know that the things you say to the other campers will probably come up, so keep it clean. I've never run into anyone who has had to call a GM. Only frustrated people. ; ;

V. ---- Killing Mysticmaker Profblix ----
-Silence him if you can (note that silence and stun are both usually resisted)
-Barfire, Shell, and Protect should be up.
-Stay back for the bomb tosses. There will probably be many. Alternate stuns with the DRK or other stunners.
-Take your time. You're in no rush. Keep elemental seal ready so you can sleep any links for good if necessary.
-MB's are your most efficient nukes. Keep this in mind.
-Be ready to cure, curaga, poisona, cursna. . .anything you can think of in terms of healing you should really be prepared for during a NM.
-Keep stoneskin up at all times if possible. Blink is nice, but not necessary.
-Aspir will work. Use it ^^
-As with any NM, use items to cure silence, heal MP, HP etc when necessary.
-Bind him!!
-Profblix has some nasty nukes and -ga spells. Keep shell up.
-Bio, Burn and Choke seem to do well.

VI. ---- Conclusions and Other Stuff ----
First, thanks to Rune64, Morloch, Allakhazam, Mystery Tour, and Speak Easy / LS-EternalForce for the info, maps, and tips. Any comments or corrections on this guide are ALWAYS appreciated.

Moldavite Earring is a semi-rare drop. You might get it. You might not. Be prepared for a let-down, but keep some cracklers on you just in case it drops. :D

I hope this guide was helpful to you. I want to apologize if I come across as an aggressive, mean, over-camping, macro-spamming jerk. This is not my intention. I just want to forewarn you that as you camp NMs, you'll run into this a lot. In my opinion, anything with a spawn time over 30 minutes is fair game. Yes, you should yield the M10 mobs in beadeaux to the group that was there first. Yes, you should yield the mob in Upper Delkfutt's that drops the key for M9 to the group that was there first. Mysticmaker Profblix is different. If you don't try your best to claim every single time, someone else will get it every time. This is a dissapointing reality of ffxi, but it also makes it fun. :D

Happy Hunting to you all and Good Luck!
-Raggie

Kill the goblins...
# Jul 31 2004 at 2:17 PM Rating: Default
Just a note...you do have to clear goblins here from the area to get him to spawn.

I went there last night and saw 2 level 75s standing in the general area and I asked what they were doing and they said "goblin NM". There were a couple of goblins running around so I pointed at them and asked if they needed to kill them and they said "no, 2 hr pop". So just for kicks I killed the 2 goblins there, hunter and miner I believe. What do you know, about 10 mins later it pops. Well, could have just been coincidence I guess. So I let them have it since they waited and after they killed it I noted the time and logged out.

Logged in 1 hr 55 mins later and started looking. I noticed at this time there was a 75 whm waiting there now. 25 mins later still no pop and the whm wasn't killing anything just looking around like an idiot. So I figured what the heck and killed the 2 goblins again. Lo and behold 10 mins later he spawned and I took him from the whm (hey, I was there first technically) and beat him down. Good things...I mugged him for more than 2,800 gil and both members of my party got 4,865 gils each. Got 2 pieces of goblin stuff, mask and armor I think. Got thunder III (crappy, sells for 3.5k on my server) and the moldavite earring.

Just so you all know, you do have to wait 2h between spawns, but he will not just magically appear if you don't clear the goblins in the area, regardless of what the "know it all" jp people think.

His respawn time is around 2:15. A little more sometimes. You definitely do not have to clear the room to get him to pop. (i've done it 3 times so far) :D

What you saw was a coincidence, honestly, though the evidence seems compelling at first, I agree.

0/3. . . drop already! damn you moldavite!

the gobby wasn't that tough at all... some of you overestimate the hell out of this weak pathentic goblin. get a PT of Lv53+ probably even 4-6 people with a healer and plenty of phys dmg dealers as the mob is a black mage with ancient magic. first kill, dropped my BLM the earring and boy does it rock!
