Soloed nin/dnc
# Feb 17 2008 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
my lv. 60 drg friend needed help with the fight so we thought we would try to go duo it, we went the pop room kill all the crawlers, plans were for drg to put sneak up but and pop them but she accidently touched the ??? in the middle and spawned them and almost died. Myself i was on nin/dnc so i animated flurished one and hojo'd the other and pulled both mobs out the room to the little dead end just west of the hidden room.

Drg penta thrust right away before i had actually engaged a mob and ended up dieing within about 2 sec. So just myself left i bind, para, slow both mobs with ni/ichi ninjitsu and amazingly it was rediculously easy. I stayed and literally not even trying tanked both mobs, to a thf or a nin they should be very easy to evade there actual hit rate on me was maybe 1/10 not making it hard to keep shadows up. I killed thf first since he has triple attack and his activation rate on it was noticable.

AF fight
# Dec 03 2006 at 5:08 PM Rating: Decent
Just a head's up for fellow Dragoons out there, i found that the 2 nm shadows (when pulled seperate) went down easy. The problem with this fight is the nm's spawn in a room filled with tomberrys and a doll. Once the room is cleared rest up and pop nm's for single pull and the fight will go fine, just ensure you kill them before the rooms mobs repop........

Our effots didnt start too well as we cleared the room the doll used a meltdown move which totally wiped out half the party, only our 66 summoner, myself (60 dragoon) and a 58 dragoon survived so careful taking it out and make sure mages keep good distance. We managed to raise the party and eventually went on to destroy the nm's although the doll re-poping half way through the fight made things interesting.

A suggestion to anyone wanting to do this quest, when you are getting friends/linkshell to help, also send some tells to dragoons who may also need the helm, it adds to your help and also helps them out.

Finally thanks to all who helped on sylph server, much appreciated! Our lineup was

Dagron (58 dragoon)
Sentaru (75 white mage)
Khisantax (70 thief)
Hiroku (66 summoner)
Voldemortt (cant remember job)
Huntz (60 Dragoon, me)

Hope this helps!
Multi Purpose

When you have a multipurpose wyvern, the breath goes off at 33.333333333333333333333333%? not 25% ya?

Wyvern will always use the breath of the element that the mob has the lowest resistence too, except light or dark. And this has been said several times on this page...
RE: Offensive breath
# Jun 23 2006 at 1:01 AM Rating: Decent
Yeah, not really. The only time it has been was long after I posted and two days after you replied to me. I just went through the entire page. If you mean something like a page or 2 back, you didn't say that and how am I supposed to expect that when all they talk about is cure breath and coffer locations, etc? (Which is perfectly fine I don't mind, I just don't see where you're getting its mentioned several times...)
how many 75???

I know that equipping this will make the wyvern use cure breath when the Dragoon's HP is at 50% but does this armet have any effect on attack breaths?
Breath Effect
# Sep 24 2006 at 12:56 AM Rating: Decent
Not really, I tried to get my wyvern to use Healihg Breath III on me at 37% and it wouldn't until 30%
RE: Breath Effect
# Jun 03 2005 at 4:23 PM Rating: Decent
Your wyvern will use an effective breath against the target, and it will do about 30% more damage.
RE: Breath Effect
# Jun 26 2005 at 12:33 AM Rating: Decent
Yea it just automatically breathes the weakest spot of the mob. Always handy if you're fighting new mob and don't know what it's weak agaisnt.

I had no problem getting my Kuftal/Cauldron coffers, but the keys...was another story. However, you don't get this from a coffer, so why was it even brought up???

Because the quest to get it requires you open a coffer in Kuftal. That's why.
question
# Feb 03 2005 at 10:14 PM Rating: Decent
Since this is a rare exclusive you can only hold one at once. Say you were to drop the item after you obtained it. Would you be able to do the coffer over again? Wondering how rare/exclusive works.

A new feature regarding the storage of artifact armor has been added.
Artifact armor for each job consists of five parts: Head, Body, Hands, Legs, and Feet.
If you trade all five parts to one of the NPCs listed below, you will receive a key item called a "claim slip" in exchange for your artifact armor. You can retrieve your armor at any time by talking to the NPC and paying 1000 gil.

-Taulenne (Northern San d'oria)
-Sinon (Bastok Markets)
-Tesch Garanjy (Windurst Woods)
-Caruvinda (Lower Jeuno)
-Ratonne (Tavnazian Safehold)
RE: question
# May 29 2006 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
I don't know the NPC's name, but there is also one of these in the wide-open area of Pashow Marshlands, near the center. For what it's worth.

ya, you can. It says the quest is repeatable, cause it would suck to accedintally drop your AF and not be able to get it back.
RE: question
# Jul 11 2005 at 12:32 AM Rating: Decent
You can get it again but the quest makes you repeat all of the AF quests and coffers meaning you gotta throw out your old AF set.

Hehe I did this and it was so much fun. I love doing AF quest because it's a way to get some very good equipment at the expense of some players time and money. I love this armet and have no plans of changing my armet tell at the very least dragon or crimson mask. I want to end the drg career with wyrm armet though or wyvern. ^^
Most Important AF In the Game

This has to be the most important AF to get in this game. It allows Drg/Whm to solo toughs with high defense. Your wyverns healing breath is triggered at <50% hp without the helm <33.3% hp. Without helm breath was giving me approx 132 hp with each Healing Breath III, with helm 190 hp.
With my current mp of 141 i can cast dia 20 times, that breaks down to an extra 3,800 hp!!!!!!
Eziest AF3
# Sep 28 2004 at 4:43 PM Rating: Decent
I'd have to say Dragoon AF3 is the easiest of all other jobs. Getting key for Kuftal Tunnel isnt a problem, but finding the coffer chest maybe.(I found coffer chest on way to XP in Cape Terrigan ^_^ ) But the NM fight is the easiest of all AF3 fights. Simply fight your way to the NM room or invisible the alliance. (I'd prefer fighting) the room is so close by. You must have your wyvern out to spawn the 2 NM's. Send 1 Dragoon with his/her wyvern out and sneak him/her and spawn the NM's and run back. Get a summoner to pull the RIGHT side NM with carby. You do not have to fight the left. When my alliance did this AF for me we only killed the right one and the left one disappeared. (it was about 2 1/2 full parties.) d(^_^)b good luck!!

Dragoons have the worst coffer locations??? hahahaha don't make me laugh. Try having to get coffers in Eldieme Necropolis, Garliage Citadel, Beadeaux, and Castle Zvahl Baileys! I have spoken to many high lvl DRGs and they comment that there coffers are among the easiest of any job. Granted PLDs don't have the worst coffer (Castle Oztroja), but ours aren't a walk in the park either.

And it is always good to have friends who are whms and know the spawn points of the coffers. I just got the coffer at Kuftal Tunnel all thanks to a friend that knew the spawn points of the coffer. Now, I just need to kill the 2 NMs and i'm all set.

YOU SCREWED ME UP!!
# Jun 02 2004 at 7:16 AM Rating: Default
OK>>> LISTEN UP!! DO NOT LISTEN TO ELADMARI's POST!!

FIRST ... you must start this quest by TALKING TO RAHAL!! You WILL GET A CUTSCENE. If you got no cutscene... finish your other AF's first. DO NOT OPEN THE COFFER IN KUFTAL BEFORE ACTIVATING THE QUEST. Rahal then sends you to Brugaire which by now you should be familiar with. Just talk to the elvaan on the right in Cargo Room A and it will do another cutscene. Brugaire will then send you to Kuftal to get the key item. This is as far as I am.
huh!?

Quest is pretty straight forward.

First you need to make sure that you have your AF2 completed (Drachen Brais) and have the quest for the hands and boots activated, from the armor shop in upper jeuno.

2nd, while leveling in Kuftal Tunnel, obtain the coffer key. Open the coffer, obtain the key item, challenge to the royal knights (or something similar to that). Take this item to Rahal, and he will tell you to talk to the person who gives you the PLD flag quest, cannot remember his name. (oops). After doing this, you're set for the NM fight, that takes place in the Temple of Uggalepih, in SE Yhoator Jungle.

This fight is not very hard, just have to be careful. once you get to the temple, you follow a straight path up, until a T intersection w/ 2 doors. Take the right door, and proceed all the way, following the path, killing all the tonberry in your way. drop some nice goodies, worth the trek. You will eventually head south until there is a large door on your right, this is the room with the 2 Shadows that you must fight. Clear out the entire room of all Wespe and Tonberry. For a change, the crawlers are no aggro, so leave them be. After this, have a dragoon run up to the ??? at the center platform and examine. 2 shadows come, have a summoner pull one of them at a time w/ carbuncle, or some other cheap trick pull, so you only have to fight one at a time. Watch out for dimensional death, as usual w/ shadows. After the fight, dragoons examine and get a massive, most excellent cutscene. so stop your party chat and let the poor guys listen to the thing ^^. Thats pretty much it, after the CS is over, you obtain the Drachen Armet, and you're set for level 60.

All of this was done w/ an alliance of lv56-58, with about 2-3 lv60s helping out. Not too terribly hard at all, compared to some other AF3 quests.

Hope this helps out!
