I got the axe the other day and I would say a RDM around 65 could solo it with some time. I helped a couple of my LS mates kill it (and they got me the axe) the other day and the way our Taru 75 RDM did it was to just Kite it in circles around the cave there with Gravity on it.
We would run ahead of it, turn and shoot, cast, whatever we could do to hurt it. As a 54 RNG I could hit it decently (without food at all) but my damage was almost non existant...
I was hitting for about 20-30 points of damage every shot and I landed a Sidewinder for a massive 102 damage! Our RDM was the damage dealer because he seems to be VERY weak to Ice/Thunder because Blizzard III was landing for about 700 dmg each cast and took a significant chunk out of his life bar each cast.

Yeah I dont understand, Im 64 atm and I have this axe, and I dont notice the +7 ranged attack, I switch between hawkers knife and this axe and nothing changes, neither gun bow or xbow do anymore or less dmg? Can soemone explain this to me?
One question ... do you already have a lot of ranged attack? You may be above a cap. If not, then I dunno.

jus hit 62 right now in the tree iv seen the nm a few time in other partys wish i woulda looked at this post then i would hav Ax by now seen a 75smn kill a 75 nin kill to maybe i can kite with my rdm for a few hours lol
Woot, just got one. Guy in my linkshell said it was there unclaimed. Went hoping I could persuade linkshell to go with me, but no luck. While there, I did however convince the high lvl ninja and smn that went after it to give the zxe to me. They didn't need it, and since it's rare/ex(thank you SE for this one being ex), they let me lot! Thank you so much to both Wzup and Shifer for this. Added to my white list. :)

How often does this NM spawn?
I actually got mine last night while XPing. I saw 3 60+ Bst's running around grabbing anything they could find, so I knew something was up. I came across them fighting Aquarius, and as politely and best I could, asked with the phrase; (Excuse me..) (Notorious Monster) (Axe) (Do you need it?) 15 mins go by as its taking a while for them to kill it, and I get a invite to form an alliance (I was pt leader) and they let me lot! I cant wait to use it!
A 75 killed Aquarius and let me have the axe today. I'm a 63 Ranger and my ranged attacks were doing 28 dmg to Aquarius whereas the person kiting it's Thunder IV did well over 1,000 damage. I actually never did check what job the guy was, as he was anon

I grabbed hate somehow once and he hit me (non critical) for 280'ish damage. This guy hits hard and either buffs
up like crazy or is incredibly weak to melee damage.

im level 33 and even I knew that only one job could do Thunder IV without an avatar -_-

Yes a RNG/NIN can use 1 Hawkers & 1 Fransisca. And RNG can also learn Rampage, without having a WAR sub (Unlike the Axe WS prior to Rampage, that requires War/Bst to be your main or sub).
I be Ranger's who use rampage are super super strong! I mean, I couldn't think of a better way to use TP...

is this onehanded or two handed.. just wondering if a rng/nin can use a hawkers knife and one of these ..
It's one handed. 2 handed axes have "Great Axe" below the name where this one has "Axe"

I was in Boyahda leveling today. A PT around lvl 69 came in to xp and to fight the NMs there if they popped. They told me to /tell them if Aquarius popped and I could have the axe. My PT broke up but I had no BLM to Warp II me so I stayed and watched for Aquarius. A high lvl JP PT came in and begain to kill Robber Crabs to kill Aquarius. After about half an hour Aquarius spawned and they got him. I asked if I could have the axe and luckily they said yes. I have a Fransisca now! :D
Camped H-10 @ Boyhada Tree for about 2 hours, not having any idea when Aquarius last spawned. He actually spawned right before my eyes, and a level 70+ RDM just happened to show up right when he popped. I sent him a polite /tell asking if I could have the axe, he invited me to the party, and killed the crab in about 3 minutes. I dont know how he did it, but the crab was taking massive damage-over-time and was dead fairly fast.
He must've had a Fransisca in his inventory because all of the items (Crab Shell, Water Crystal, Land Crab Meat) all went to him immediately since he had Quartermaster set on himself, but the Fransisca stayed in the Treasure Pool. He asked me to Cast Lots, and voila. Got my axe. I can't believe how easy it was to get my axe. :)

They would have to invite you before they kill it, as it's rare/ex (i.e. non-tradable).
Assuming a party kills it the axe would be sitting in treasure pool for a few minutes, meaning you could join after they killed and still get it via lotting.
If a solo killed it they could max out their inventory to force it into the treasure pool, as well. You see people doing this in the Dunes with Magicked Skulls all the time.

Yeah, this persons right, thats how i got my stupid worm for subjob quest. What a nice group, kick someone out for a few minutes just for me, thank you to that group.
If you see a party killing it, try asking if you can have the axe, they usually will give it to you...i do

Yeah, he's pretty bad ***, and like all robber crabs, will aggro. Don't trust aggro information from this site, there are LOTS of mistakes. The strategy I've seen (and been told about) is to cast gravity on him and run around while whacking him with whatever you've got. Seemed like an effective enough way to kill him since there's nothing else in that area of Boyahda that's going to aggro you.

No this is not a 100% drop rate.It shows above proof that it isnt 100% drop rate.Goodluck with it!

One of the flags says nonaggro... I know by personal experience that Aquarius is VERY aggro... Aggro enough to have killed my whole party of 55-57 before we could even teleport out. It nailed me for 400 damage in 1 hit..
Aquarius, NM Robber Crab in the Boyahda Tree drops it. Probably level 70ish, though that's speculation.
