Latent Effect
# Dec 22 2005 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
It is cheap because just as other items with latent effects, people only reads them as blank spaces. Personaly speaking I don't trust latent effects at all. To me they are only a waste of space in the inventory.

Not true, a latent effect can be triggered by anything. I have a Gennin Earring (lvl 30) and it's "Latent effect: AGI +4" is activated by a /NIN subjob. I know this as a fact because when I equip it with /NIN my AGI goes up by 4 points, but when I sub RNG it gives me nothing.

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

Tried it out yesterday to figure the latent effect:
Base Defense: 203

Green HP & TP 0 = 203 DEF
Green HP & TP more than 100 = 203 DEF

Yellow HP & TP 0 = 203 DEF
Yellow HP & TP more than 100 = 203 DEF

Orange HP & TP 0 = 203 DEF
Orange HP & TP more than 100 = 203 DEF

Red HP & TP 0 = 243 DEF
Red HP & TP more than 100 = 203 DEF

Conclusion: Lv70 JSE Latent Earrings is triggered by "Red HP" AND "TP less than 100" thus, making it a high level junk!

its not really junk. think about... a losing battle and war needs more def to take less dmg. bam.. he swaps over and gets 20% more def.

yet, if your fighting at that lv, your losing, healer has no mp (thus, the reason your at red) you put that on for.......about 4hits, and your dead. Maybe that's why it sells for 4k on Caitsith, it's pretty much junk

Glass half full Glass half empty.

Being Galka my HP is significantly high. I am only 64 now and I have HP at mid 1400s with my gear on. So yes I have to get down to around 350 before this activate but to add an extra 40-60 defense. Pop defender as well for loads of def. This can easily be enough for a mage to get those extra ticks of MP cause maybe the mage is out of MP, or you just got pasted for 848 by a mobs weapon skill, or maybe you are even soloing and no mage in site and you need to buy some extra time for shadows to be recast

It is not a full time use item but definitely counts as a situational tool.

Just like the Job Specific rings, they only activate their powers when you are losing a considerable amount of life. I dont know about you, but I would rather have +6 AGI from drone earrings than having this activate once in awhile. The benefits aren't good enough to lose the inventory space. Something more productive could be used!

Remember Final Fantasy 10? You had abilities like "SOS Regen" and such, which only activated if you were really low on HP. Same thing here, only they replaced the "SOS" with "Latent Effect".

not true. Most latent effects are triggered by other conditions besides low life.

With this one it seem likely it's triggered by low life, but it could be triggered when you recieve a dia spell, or when you're slowed or if you have full TP. it might be triggered by also wearing a Soldier's Ring (and completing the Soldier's set) the trigger's unknown atm, I'd suggest watching your DEF and if you suddenly find youself 20% more armored, you'll know the trigger.

When that happens, post it here.

Why is the price so low?
# Feb 18 2004 at 8:07 PM Rating: Default
Anyone know why its worth like 500 gils, even if its really good and its for lvl 70+? I mean, player lvl 70+ must have some insane amount of money, and they only have to pay 500 gils...

The price is 500gil because people set the reserve price at 500gil and people bid 500gil on it. It's all about supply and demand. In this case, I don't think the demand is very high. I hope that answers your question.
