you can grow these in almost any kind of pot ( i'm refering to cuttings) jsut leave them there and check em 2 or 3 times a day and grows saplings, then you can sell for small profit or garden with the saplings.

If i plant the cuttings on Iceday should i feed them ice crystals on iceday as well...? i am very interested in gardening and have started taking notes on what i do. If anyone has any suggestions on what i should do to get the best results, please send me a response or e mail me at

If you want Tree Saplings from the Tree Cuttings, don't give it any crystal.

Nothing drops tree saplings, you have to grow them from tree cuttings and the best day to sew them is on ice day. you harvest 1 to 2 saplings per 1 tree cutting. The reason that people spend so much money on tree saplings is because you can grow high end ore and other high end items from it. For more info on these two seeds check out this site.

I don't know about what drops Tree Saplings, only Tree Cuttings (Goobues). As far as why Tree Saplings are valuable? You can use Ice Crystals + Tree Saplings and grow Ice Ore. It takes a VERY, VERY long time but check your local AH under Goldsmith for Ice Ore and see the price. Well worth if to me.

You grow Tree Saplings from Tree Cuttings. Put a Tree Cutting in to a pot and don't feed it any crystals. Also Ice Ore while very valueable is a RARE result and it can take almost a month of earthtime to grow them.

I found out today that there is a maximum of 10 pots you can grow at a time, I did not know this, and thought it useful information for all that were wondering.(Information attained on another thread and may be incorrect. I have not tested this information yet.)
Here are some results for you guys to chew on for Tree Saplings:
Planted 6 Tree Cuttings in 6 Porcelain Flower Pots: I don't care what day I plant/harvest. And I did not feed them anything at all.
I wake up in the morning, check pots, go to work, come home, check pots, Play, check pots, sleep...
Results: From the six pots, after about two weeks or so I got 9 Tree saplings. NO FAILURES. And I picked em on random days at random times and all kinds of moon phases.
Strangely, I have one still growing... It's been growing for a little under a month now... I am tempted to call a GM on it...
Furnature during the time I was growing this batch:
6 x Porcelain Flower Pots
2 x Workbenches
1 x Maple Tables
3 x Flower Stands
1 x Bronze Bed
Moghancement: Gardening
I now have a wall lined with Maple Tables and 9 pots. Going to get one more pot and grow Tree Cuttings in four, and Tree Saplings in four.
I'm sortta bragging, but I think this information would be relevant in the future for any one thats going to plant and try to attain the same result as me.

Did you plants go through a period of the mog saying that they were not doing well but they will be because you have looked at them?
Yes, that happens every time. Nothing to be worried about. It will eventually go away.
Mogahancement goes from Faint, to Powerfull to Overwhelming Earth energy.
I put 14 workbenches and 3 or four maple tables (yes they fit) to crank up the energy to overwhelming.
Waiting on two cutting to (hope) give me sappling, after feeding crystals by mistake on my first two tries. /d'oh

wat exactly can u grow from tree saplings and which day and crystals makes them?

I don't know of any mobs that drop sapplings, though it's entirely possible that something does, as I'm only level 40 and haven't yet fought everything =P.
You don't necessarily have to buy sapplings, just grow your own from Tree Cuttings, which go for about 4k/per on Caitsith. Plant and harvest on Iceday, the day that's strong to the seed (Cuttings). This works in brass pots as well as porcelain. I'm currently attempting to grow one in an earthen pot just to see what happens. Should work though.
It also needs to be noted that the best results seem to happen when you check the pot at least once per RL day. The cuttings should take somewhere between 14-16 RL days to grow, at least that's been my experience. Time of month planted seems to affect the rate of growth, so try to plant as close to a new/full moon as you can. Also, it wouldn't hurt to harvest as close to a full moon as you can. They seem to grow faster by a day or so if grown in a porcelain pot as well.

woah - the cuttings on Fenrir are 140-150k Stack, and most drop areas are camped 24/7.
Look at the date that post was posted. The price of tree cuttings have almost tripled over the past year.
how about some info as to what it yields when planted.
or what its used for if for crafting.

Here's howto get these (people have been asking me and I jsut felt like posting)
GARDENING RECIPE:

DO NOT FEED ANY CRYSTALS
(this RAREly but sometimes yields gold nuggets..though I don't think people mind it that much since you usualy get ~8 gold Nuggets)

Tree Saplings aren't dropped from a monster, they are grown from Tree Cuttings.
Tree Cuttings can be found on creatures called "Goobbue", in a variety of zones.
Typically the higher level the Goobbue. the more likely it is to drop a Tree Cutting.
