yes i was thinking the same thing...i need this shield for my bst and i just cant get it cuz ppl are always camping it :(
omg who camps this is for a 20k drop i just camp if im in ghelsba by chance, its m=not right STOP CAMPING IT!
i was killing other orcs and saw hiim i killed him and got the shield to drop 1st try

Dammit it's ppl like you that we hate, we spent literally HOURS and DAYS sitting there, even start building a little community at the camp (since it's always been the same ppl and we never get the drop, except one or 2 of us just there trying to get more for the money), and then ppl like you, not even thinking about getting it on purpose, just get it like that, sooooo unfair.
I tried to start leveling my THF (as well as some crawler farming in Windy) for this and still I am only Lv12 THF so dun have TH yet, but the sad point is I even have enough money to pay for a Night Cape and I still haven't got the shield yet.
Each time I kill the Barricader or Wallbreacher I get like 25exp, and I am currently 3000+tnl, if I can level up with them before I get the shield I know it's not worth trying anymore :P

I have been camping this for 2 days now, must have killed like 30+ of the Barricader and Wallbreacher, and no drops other than the 20gil of Orc pocket money and fire crystal.
To make matter worse I kinda made myself a public enemy while camping this, I'm a Lv20 RDM/BLM, so I would pull with Dia naturally, and people hate me cause I have been pulling it everytime before them, wasted them a good couple of hours standing there entertaining me. I am probably in some secret "do-not-raise" list by now.
Was funny tho, a Lv25 WAR came, checking the job of everybody there, since he was the only WAR, he was boosting he would get it since he has provoke, and it was on Macro, so we dun stand a chance. Unfortunate twice on a roll he failed to pull, then he has a friend came and partied up saying no way they could lose now. At this point a DRK came and suggest party (since he was only after knuckle and I was after shiled we think was a good idea), and we keep pulling it and everyone got pissed off and left. Still no drops tho which is a shame, but kinda funny how I pissed everyone off like that :P
PS. If after about 0/50, is it still worth camping it or I would be better off try to camp Spipi the cralwer in Windy instead....????

i totally did the same thing
i killed sooo soo many of these things...i sat there everynight late night whenhardly anyoen was one or if they were they werent gonna pay dilligent enough attention...and it was too late for the JP players to be up

In the outpost the only monster i see are orcish Stone Launchers. Do Orcish Barricader spawn in their places sometimes or do they spawn somewhere else?
they spawn in an area not on the map, like the secret beach in dunes, here's how ya get there
-go to ghelsba and jump off the small bridge accross the lake
-walk down the lake a bit, staying to the left, and get up on the first clump of land you see
-follow down the left wall a bit until you find a ramp, dont go up the ramp, i think you keep following the wall

if all else fails, click on orcish barricader, and check the map

When I first started playing about 5 months ago I looked into buying this for my war when it hit 19 but I switched to a great axe and gave up on sword and shield. It was only 7K on Shiva back then, now its 35-40K. -_-

don't you love all this price gouging?
gil farmers horde these and make them "Rare". Check price history youll see 4-5 of some items sold at once when they get really high.

i agree its alot for the lvl being that most of yor armor is 10k for full set + weapon/shield
but you are talking about NOTHING past 40 im currently 50 and need about 200k for I.M. armor and T.K shield with T.M espadon, not to mention lifebelt and genkai help ; ;

A lvl 19 Red Mage should be able to take one of these things out pretty easily, right? I'd just buy the shield it drops otherwise, but it's a little rediculous for a lvl 19 shield to sell for 30,000 at the AH. -_-"

if you think tahsnts bad ... the shield sells for 200-250k on asura server

It's about 50-60k on Bahamut ATM. MAYBE 40k if its selling in the right place.

it is not rediculous at all...it sells for so much cuz of the drop rate, and what it does. unlike the "wingedge" witch dropid the 1st time i killed the helldiver...and does nothing special. 30k is not that much...
This item looks very appealing and useful, I am going to farm for it this weekend. And, OMG I have seen this thing sells for an insane amount of gil at the AH (20k). Thanks for the useful info in these posts, happy hunting. Cheers.

The Baghnaks off the Wallbreecher are going for 20k right now
at lvl 21 the head, body, hands, legs, feet armor i have on were 20k a piece.
The 3 rings I alternate were 10-15k
My Spike Necklace was 15k
Warrior's Belt+1 was somewhere around 15-20k
Garrison Hose is a LOT more than 20k (somewhere from 50-120k I think, not sure exactly)
Ryl. Ftm. Trousers were 10k (I alternate those as needed)
Garrison Boots (awesome for RDM) are somewhere around 75k I think. (got both in one garrison =D)

I have to have the best I can. Right now I want this and a Neckchopper (which is also 50-60k). It might cost me more, but you can sure see the results. The other day i had more VIT and DEF than an (ELV/HUM cant remember). If theres ever any other Warriors I always have WAY better equipment and deal WAY more damage, regardless race.

I am happy to report that I was able to camp for this thing and pull it off on the 3rd Barricader (without thief). Took 3 Earth hours to camp. I checked on its value afterwards, still selling for 23-30K. Its not for sale however, I am going to use this shield - noticed my attacks improve immediatelty. Definately worth the wait and both the mobs are a sinch with WAR25/MNK12.

haha if you think 20k is a lot...just wait till you start wanting armor that costs upwards of 300k

I show up at the spot and a high lvl JP is there, but takes off...so I figure just wait an hour/hour and a half and bada bing
First the wallbreacher spawned, no loot...I wait for an hour or so and barricader pops...I take it down and whadda ya know, I looted a fire crys and the lantern shield first fight...fought the breacher another time as i was leaving, no loot.
Did this as a 21war/10whm, no TH

As I was browsing the AH for some new gear a Lvl 7 Wmg asked if I would help him with the Save the Children Mission. I had some time to kill so I said no prob. Turns out we get up to the hut and he forgot to accept mission. I said I would wait just give me a /tell when you return. So I decide to go hunt orc for fire crystals and sure enough first check of the cave Wallbreacher sittin there lookin all tasty. Bam! Lantern shield drops. Sweet! Was like 0/20 on NM drops. Killed the orcs in Save the Children in 1minute30seconds with just my boomerang.
Oh yeah, and as I was lvling my thief sub a familiar whitemage saved my but as I was getting owned by a forest hare.

yeah one day as i was logging in ghelshba i decided to check wat NM were here. i see on allakhazam that the Barrciader spawns around here so i decide to check it out( i am a 31rdm/15blm) so i go there and i wait for 30 mins and the thing pops. i kill it with ease and on the first kill the shield drops. yes an easy 30-35k

Man, I have been camping for this shield for the past few days, and i am a Lvl 30 Rdm/15 Thf, and I still havent gotton this dang shield. I've found the Strike Bagnahks once, but still no shield. So far I am 1/13 with the Wallbreacher, 0/8 with the Barricader.

Day One: I get 2 Strike Baghnakhs in 4 kills of the wallbreacher and I call it a day.
Day Two: I pitch a tent and build a camp fire for a long day of profits. I killed wallbreacher and barricader 16 times each.(over a span of 14 hours) Not a single drop. I was unbelievably angry. (as one may imagine)
Day One: I get 2 Strike Baghnakhs in 4 kills of the wallbreacher and I call it a day.

I fought the Orcish Barricader almost a dozen times within two days, i never got the drop. I expected this because I dont have thf subbed (it's not even at lv.15).
The drop on this seems more rare than the h2h from wallbreacher, because i fought wallbreacher like 6 times..and i got the h2h drop...
very time consuming.....

If you are planning on going after this item, be prepared for a longggg wait. Also, there are always SEVERAL VERY HIGH level Japanese players who LOVE to farm this item. I went there and it was like a line at the ballpark restroom and no players were under level 40. Considering that these things sell on AH for around 30k and can be equipped at fairly low levels, you can see why. I wish you good luck trying....Me, I just gave up. Ill buy one if i get the gil or go after easier items i can package together to buy the darn thing.

the spawn rate of the barricader is about one per 1:30 hour. its extremely slow spawn rate and personally i been hunting them for 2 days so far.and killed about 5-6 of them and no drop at all for the claws or the shield.. it's like torture.

The re-spawn rate was weird for me. The first time I went hunt for it, the Barricader was right there in the cave looking bored. I killed it and got no drop. Then, it re-spawned in about 15-20 minutes (earth time) while I was waiting in the cave. I killed it and got no drop again. Then, I went outside and saw the Thousandarm Deshglesh. Killed it and got a Plate Belt on my first try. Then, I went back in and out the cave and waited a long while (probably a little less than an hour) and both never re-spawned.

ok one of the caves... so is that the ghrotto? or just a cave in ghelsba op zone? (yeah ghrotto and op are different zones... also 2 different ghrottos, one from the op and another from fort...) so which one is it?

In one of the caves of Ghelsba. Thats where all the tough orcs are.
