does this lower your dark magic abilitites too?
Nope. This just lowers darkness resistance (aka resistance to Blind and Sleep among other things). Barfira doesn't make your fire attacks stronger so this doesnt make your dark magic weaker.

So does anything reasonable drop this ring? I'm a 44sam that just got a Jujisu Gi, and i figured it would only be fitting to camp this one too. What area, what mob, and what lvl am i looking at?
Nothing drops a Sniper's Ring.. it's crafted.

The Archer's Ring drops from Stroper Chyme in Ordelle's Caves. Stroper Chyme is of the OOze or SLime family but is NOT an NM. That is a common misconception. However, on Seraph it is heavily camped, it spawns in 3 areas and each respawn is 5 game hours from the time it is killed. The drop is very hard to get in my experience, although I am a warrior 62 with a full thf sub. Good Luck if you go for it, you'll need it.

Damn! I bough my rings at 700k ;; no are at 400k+ -.-;
ever since the last patch snipers dropped from 550k down to 350k, and are steady now at 400k. i'm gonna get two for my dark as soon as my stuff sells and i can afford it

i party with a drg in my static (lv64-66atm) and she uses the dex rings, i dunno about you, but she is the best drg i've ever partied with.
(dex = lightning, lightning = purple, drg = purple... maybe coincedence)

it actuly cosrrs twice as much, no one tanking would use snipers b/c of the defense penalty
If I were a NIN who spent millions pumping out evasion, and for some reason I was wearing acc rings, I would wear Sniper's instead of Woodsmen's.

I just saw today that there is a new ring, called the Woodsman ring, it has +5 accuracy, and +5 ranged accuracy, but -5 avasion, so i think this might be a little cheaper then the sniper, because with the -5 avasion, that basically boots out rng,nin,thf, and a tanking war.

...and it would actually be excellent for a SAM/RNG. SAM/RNG is the winning combo of this last update it seems. Which works out awsome for me, cause I have been /RNG for the entire time.

im a lv 69 almost 70 DRK... i rarely miss...
i mean i can outdamage most RNG now in skillchains... and i only have 1 snipers ring.. my other is a venerer... i mean when i never miss my WS in a SC and a rng misses using sidewinder... its sad... alot of RNG are just snobby and think they are better than everyone else

You do realize the 26 other accuracy points has to do with you hitting more, or is i just that 1 ring?
Also, you must be partying with crappy rangers cuz I've talked to both 75 darks and rangers, and both say that a ranger outdamagaes anyone but a BLM.

As a mnk I refuse to buy one of these the prices are terrible for a RING a freaking ring so not worth it there is gear thats cheaper you can use for acc as opposed to this over priced ring that and focus helps quite a bit

ok i'v been playing this game since it came out on ps2. if you think you NEED a particular item to best play your job then your waaaay too into this. it's a game, the point is to have fun, do something you like, not farm for days just to go buy an item you think you need, you NEED food, and shelter, not an imaginary ring...
dont let anyone make you think you need anything, if you do you end up up exactly where they want you, with your money in their pocket.

Some people find fun in spening this kind of money and getting the respect from people that they dont even know...if you play this game for a while, you have earned chances to make your gameplay better and that includes using non-tangible currecy to purchase non-tangible items.
of course you need food, water and shelter, but most forget that a human needs entertainment also (whether it be games, television, others to socialize with, or a social life in general) or your life will be so boring that you'd basically be the glorified version of an monkey...

I didn't say anything about not needing this game. I love this game as much as any of the other players. My entire point is as follows: If you're kicking people out of your parties based solely on the fact a piece of their equipment is not what you want it to be, especially something like a RING, you're an ***. Not everyone has the time to get enough gil to buy one of these rings. Some people have jobs, and school. And actual real world activities. I know a lot of that dulls in comparison to the game sometimes, boy do I know. But honestly, relax. Its just a game.

I completely agree, but in some of the places people like to get experience points at certain levels (usually 60-64 or so I've heard and experienced) you need a lot of +accuracy to be able to hit at anything close to a consistant rate. This is why a lot of people say that you "must" have these. The price sucks and I'm on Midgardsormr, so I should know about prices sucking more than some others (/wave cheap *** Titan server). Haubergeon also isn't exactly a bargain.

I totally agree with you Andais: You've said what I been thinking for almost a year: I.E, my friend constantly rambles on and on about "I fckn need a sniper's ring, my sam misses way too much" and he constantly goes on like's its for real......that he NEEDS it. Granted, you must look at it the other side: if you ARE commited to this game, then at higher lvs, yes you will indeed need a ALOT of acc+ racc+ etc etc. And at that point you will need everything and anything that gives stats up. But you are correct, it is a game, just some ppl take it more serious then others.

Damn Gil sellers and bots, and also rich people that wants more money. a lot of people are camping stroper chyme 24/7, for a normal person its impossible to get this without buying it. Also the stroper chyme can be killed at lvl50 -_-. i need 2 of them, went to farm to Passhow marshlands and again a lot of people and a bot elvaan that stole me a goobbue and a leech. i will try to get teams without it to get to lvl50 and try to camp the chyme for archers ring.
It's not that hard to get Stroper Chyme; I'm 0/3 with it, but I have managed to claim it with the bots that are spaming voke. Hell, one even spawned behind the bot, it turned, looked at it, then turned around again; in that time, I was able to pull the bow, sling the arrow, then release and claim it.
On my server, one of her worst down there is a stupid chinese named boyhown; I claimed one he was running towards; so the whole time it takes me to kill it, the bot keeps on examining me and /poke-ing me, thought it was funny because it made me laugh.

I'm starting to hate this game and I'll prolly quit because the gilsellers.... I think everyone should quit for a for a while so the gilsellers dont get **** and they go poor and then their account gets shut down then we can play again.....
Not all gillsellers are bad. You act like they're all evil people. They're not all bad they kind of help this terrible FFXI Economy. If people who don't know anything about the simplest form of Economy, buy low sell high, they'll sell for cheaper than the last sale of the item in AH because it "sells faster". Fact is it doesn't it only lowers the market in price and it also prevents sales of people's items that know even a minute amount of economy to even try to keep prices steady. Now this is kind of where gilsellers can help us, the players of FFXI, out. They sell something so high to prevent drops in price. If the item gets popular that price is going to shoot so high up because looking at how it's made the Sniper's Ring is gonna be sold at a high price. If, I don't mean to offend the people that are ignorant in economy because I'm not that good at it either, a person gets his hands on one that he didn't make he'd sell it lower than AH (Now I doubt many of these are sold in AH because they'd be sold in Jeuno and the PC would be taxed quite heavily). If that ring sells for lower than original sale that price is going to drop anywhere from 1k-100k now this effects the people who put it for sale in AH because they paid the taxes and it didn't sell in AH because someone doesn't know Economics. Now that price has to go in re-sell it at the current price pay the taxes on it again. Now I have to kind of burn on SE here, if an item doesnt sell shouldn't we get our tax money back or atleast some percentage of it? I mean I think the tax in Jeuno is like 13% or something like that so you sell a Snip ring for 550k they pay maybe right around 71,500 in tax. Now to me that's kind of alot just for tax. If it doesn't sell you re-sell it and pay another 68-70k in tax. Now adding that together thats over 100k just in tax for trying to sell an item. So not all gillsellers are bad don't go flaming some people because they're trying to help us out because they have some knowledge of Economy.

I don't think we nned to quit playing but we should boycott the items that the gillsellers sell and only buy them from people we know are not gill sells. Along with this we can lower the prices of the stuff. Paying 500k+ for a ring that is droped off a normal mob or the ring that it is used to craft is stupid.
Ya, I agree with the price inflation, its just stupid. I bought a Sniper's Ring it cost me around 580 k I think. After that I said ***** it and got a Verener(sp) Ring instead, the only differance in the two, is the Verener ring has +3 acc instead of +5.... big freaken deal, the Sniper's Ring also drops your def by 10 and your drk resistance by 20, oh and did I mention I couldn't care less about the ranged acc ?

hey, just saying that the "Verener" <sp?> ring is one of the new rings with acc+3 on it. it is the rare one but not Ex. a couple have been sold on Lakshmi server for aprox. 200k. hoping the price will drop along with sniper rings ^^; if anyone knows how to obtain these new rings please give me a link or something. thnx

ummm... just so you know no real players appreciate gil sellers OR gil buyers. Gil buyers are worse actually. I hope you weren't serious about buying the gil for the ring. Anyone that buys gil should be booted permanently for ******** up the economy for everyone else. Why do you think the rings ARE that much anyway?

Do any of you have any information about the other Rare/Ex ring that has +4ACC instead of the +5 on the Snipers, i got a message from my LS mate saying they are supposedly called Jeager or Jaeger Rings...and like i said they are RARE/EX. So if anyone has any info, I'd appreciate some. ^^
