Osode is more of a status item. It's basically just a "look how leet I am" item.
.
# Jul 18 2004 at 8:22 PM Rating: Default
dude kirin osode is useless for all jobs
may be brd need it but brd af2 have better stat

the onlything i can think the use of it is monk for the mnd bonus. other class can get better armor then that. (more specific, like more fighter concentrate on acc attack, mage on mnd int or char)
RE: .
# Aug 02 2004 at 11:36 AM Rating: Default
1. what if you don't have any AF armor cause you lazy.
2. if you going against a monster that has light magic that hits in a ranged area and you not the tank then this would help defend it.

If you're too lazy to get AF armor, you're not getting into a HNM LS capable of fighting Kirin.

is it tradable????
unsellableon the AH, but tradeable/bazaarable
# Jul 03 2004 at 5:41 PM Rating: Excellent
No, the Osode cannot be put on the AH, even though it's not marked EX. The same goes for all the rare marked items that come from Tu'Lia. e.g. Kirin's Pole and the throwing items that the gods drop.

BUT, you CAN sell them in your Bazaar, or trade them to other players.

RE: @_@
# Aug 02 2004 at 11:40 AM Rating: Decent
i think this would be good equip as any magic user as sub, but probably best would be ???/RDM because you get both MND and INT +
RE: @_@
# Oct 20 2005 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
Okay, my last post made no sense, allow me to restate that.
I think this would be best for MNK or BST. Probably MNK because there isn't any body equip that MNK can use that even compares to this.

***WAR***
WAR would be better off with the Adaman Hauberk, the Attack and Accuracy +15 would be more helpful for WAR than the VIT, AGI, INT, MND, CHR +10, and the MP+30 is completely useless.

***MNK***
There is nothing that even comes close to this for MNK except perhaps the Shura Togi. Which still doesn't help Chakra or Chi-Blast like the Kirin Osode.

***IF WHM COULD USE***
This would be nice for WHM, however, the "Refresh" effect given is other body equipment is irreplaceable. And the only thing that makes this good for WHM is the MND & MP. "The Noble's Tunic's Cure Potency +10%" would make up for the MND.

***IF BLM COULD USE***
Although the INT +10 cannot be replaced by anything but the INT +11 from the Mahatma Houppelande, the "Refresh" effect from the Black Cloak is incredible for a BLM. The "Elemental Magic Skill +8 & INT +4" surpasses the INT +10, and "Refresh" will save you more MP than the +30 MP of Kirin Osode.

***IF RDM COULD USE***
Only thing that would even come close to this would be the Warlock's Tabard (RDM AF1 Body). But the "Enfeebling Magic Skill +15" doesn't match up to the STR, DEX, INT, & MND +10 that RDM can all help RDM. RDM/BLM, RDM/WHM, RDM/NIN, whatever, this would be the dominant body equip for the RDM. Unfortunately, RDM can't use it XD. Although, theres a nice Blue Cotehardie that seems similar, like a-- lower version almost, although it does give more MP. XD

***IF THF COULD USE***
The "Dragon Harness" can try all it wants, but it just can't stand up to +10 DEX & AGI. This would be the ultimate THF body equip; Maximizing the SATA bonus from body equip. Unfortunately THF can't use this, and subbing THF means that DEX and AGI don't effect SATA, crowning this useless to that cause. The closest thing to this that THF can use would be the "+7 DEX & AGI" from the "Dragon Harness +1", not to mention its nice little "+12 Attack"

***IF PLD COULD USE***
The "Koening Cuirass" would still be the best body equip for a PLD I think. It has higher def, high HP bonus, and 10 more VIT than the Kirin Osode. PLD doesn't really have much use for anything else except the MP.

***IF DRK COULD USE***
Hmm, Kirin Osode vs Adaman Hauberk. This would be a toughy, although it may be an easier decision for someone who knows how it is to be a DRK. I'd probably go with the Osode when alone/solo, I know how great a high INT Drain spell can be, ~.o and the AGI would be nice for the crossbow,(assuming you have one.) But I suppose for a party you need to do more damage than you need to survive. lol
MP+30 Accuracy+15
AGI+10 vs Attack+15
INT+10 Evasion-15

***BST***
I have to say, this is incredible for BST. Nothing matches up to the +10 CHR, let alone the +30 MP and +10 everything else. Although, I don't know how much better "Charm +" is to "CHR +". So perhaps the "Charm +6" from the "Monster Jackcoat" (BST AF2 body), or the "Beast Jackcoat +1" (BST AF1 body +1) is more helpful. But I think it'd have to be a hell of a lot better to make up for the +30 MP and +10 everything else.

***RNG***
I'm not completely sure how RNG goes about at lv 75, but I've heared that ranged acc/att & AGI isn't everything. If that's true, I'd say this is really helpful because of the STR & DEX +10. If this is not true, then I'd have to go with the "Hunter's Jerkin +1" (RNG AF1 body +1) because it has a much higher Ranged Acc boost.

***BRD***
The CHR+10 and MP+30 is great for BRD, but I'd take the Sha'ir Manteel over it. BRD doesn't need the MP so badly; Its 3 CHR less; but the best thing is the "Song Spellcasting Time -12%" I might not be a level 75 BRD, but I can imagine that the chance to cut down song casting time is just as desired at lv 75 than any other, and man would I love to have it.

***IF SMN COULD USE***
+30 MP is nice, but +45 is better. :P The "Evoker's Doublet +1" (SMN AF1 body +1) gets "+45 MP, Avatar Elemental Resistance +25, 'Blood Pact' Ablility Delay -4, and MP Regeneration While Healing +5". Kirin Osode doesn't stand a chance to this.

***SAM***
Well, the best body equip really depends on your sub job when it comes to SAM. Regardless of your sub job, you'd be better off with the "Hachiman Domaru" or "Shura Togi"

***NIN***
NIN can be played several ways, but I can't see anyway in which this would be better than using a "Scorpion Harness" or "Koga Chainmail". But I'm certainly no NIN.

***IF DRG COULD USE***
This would probably be the best body equip for DRG, although I don't know how effective the "Wyrm Mail's Adds Support Job Ablilities To Wyvern" (DRG AF2 body) is. Other than that, the closest best thing I'd have to say would be "Drachen Mail +1" (DRG AF1 +1.

I DIDN'T NAME +1 VERSIONS OF EQUIP IF THE NHQ WAS ALREADY BETTER THAN KIRIN OSODE.

THAT's awesome.
Its called an Osode
# Jun 12 2004 at 3:27 AM Rating: Excellent
An osode is a type of stiff rigid leather based armor. They were used as training vests by knights. The only knight ever rumored to wear an osode to battle was Sir Galvart of Sicily. But he was shot in the neck with an arrow because and osode's collar is made of fabric. The reason why this is not worn by DRKs or PLDs is cause they are consider KNIGHTS so it would be unorthodox for them to wear it.

This armors good but for my playing style, I'd still rather the Adamans Hauberk, which is still not on this website, surprizing. I've seen it twice already on Siren and I've even got a glimps of the RSE2 set which I thought was a rumor and still nothing posted about it here. Allakhazam is becoming out of date

1. The Adaman Hauberk is uncursed equipment. You must first craft the cursed gear (requires veteran level crafting skill) and then get the appropriate abjuration from the HNM that drops it.
2. Allakhazam relies on user submissions. If you notice something is missing from this site, submit the information before complaining the site has grown 'out of date'
Curious...

I came across this one day looking up gear for mnk and told my LS about it. One of the LS members said, "It cant be sold, its Ex".

I replied, "No, its Rare".

Then he pointed out that the color of the circle that Rare is written in looks an awful lot like the Ex color. So, can anyone tell me if this is 'Tradeable' or not. Can it be sold or is it actually Ex? Please end our discussion once and for all lol.

Thanks^^

It can be sold/traded. It can even go for sale at the AH.

Very few people in their right mind would do this, at least not before getting their hands on a second osode (by trading their first to a mule, of course). Assigning a price tag to the best piece of equipment in the game is...ehm...daunting. The most expensive things I've ever seen sold at the AH include the Royal Cloak and Pluto's Staff. This piece of equipment embarrases the two of them put together. An entire LS would have to pool its resources together to afford this thing.

*sniff sniff* Smell that? It's ignorance. C'mon, doesn't everybody know about the arms and armor of ancient Japan? Seriously! ;p

Technically, that piece of armor should be called a domaru, or possibly an oyoroi - but we won't get into that. What we will talk about is what it is historically made of. Domaru, of which osode are a part, is made from overlapping plates or scales of hammered iron, with two lacquered leather plates for the front and back, neatly jointed so as to allow freedom of movement for running, mounting a horse, and swinging a sword or spear.

To make a long story short: Yes, it is "heavy armor." It is armor for heavy infantry (front-line footsoldiers) or mounted cavalry.

Osode are a part of many garments. Osode means "Sleeves." Different styles of komono, for instance, are identifed by what type of sleeve they have.
