As the Jelly ring gives you the + and - of a slime this gives you the + and - of a bomb.

But not as bad as the jelly ring... -75 Fire elemental isn't making you take more damage it's your Fire "Resistance". Sure i'm like a open target for all fire based spells but those HNM mobs weren't going to resist on me anyway much.

I swear by this ring, i never take it off. Only ring i'd trade this for is blood bead even then i'm not too sure about it. Once you play tested it a bit you'll see it's not as bad as it "seems". Specially when your tanking with 4 other PLD's and the mob starts spamming Firaga 4 and they all die and you live with 20 HP left.
GREAT FOR MAGES

I agree with all of you on the -75 to fire being a bigger turn off for the +75 HP. Since a good ammount of mobs you fight for xp (like gobs) have fire based moves, you're looking to get eaten up in one bombtoss.

I for one love this ring though for Drg when I'm solo'ing. One of the biggest things I look for in a solo gear set-up is +HP. Getting 75HP for only one armor slot is godly for a drg since your Healing Breath ability triggers at 1/2 health with the AF helm on. Raising your max HP only helps raise the trigger mark, which is one of the big things you look for in your armor build when solo'ing.

For those Drg's that want to challenge themselves solo'ing things like avatars (but not Ifrit of course), +HP is critical to make sure you don't get "one-shotted" while trying to get a Healing Breath off.

I know this example only applies to one job, but still wanted to point it out since many people have pointed out the negatives

Wether you're a taru or a galka, Kirin will eat you.
Last time I checked he doesn't cast fire spells.
HP+75 = Might just save your life.
Fire-75 = Goblins own j00.
Lv. 57 = I look like I'm cool.
Most people look at the brighter side. No one notices you have -150 fire, they do notice when you join a party and your monk has 1800HP though.
(They might notice when you die to a bomb toss everyone took 200dmg to, and you took 800 >_>)

Take care when using this ring, I feel like it's cursed sometimes, because I still take more fire damage than other people even when its off ._.;;
Bomb Queen NM: Peice of cake if you have the right setup.
(Bomb King might be more your style. Lol.)
Wow people -_-

Too many people don't understand the proper usage of +HP gear. orz

First condition of using the BQ ring is that you aren't fighting anything with fire-based attacks because you will get roasted for sure with -75 resist.

Besides that, the only time you will see the full benefit of +HP is against extremely hitting mobs like Gods and other HNMs as well as in Dynamis.

The whole point of +HP gear is to give mages and yourself a larger window of oppurtunity to cure you in the event that your HP falls drastically in a very short time. Unless the chances of your HP falling below 75 are good, this ring is otherwise useless (not counting Spirits Within boosting). The same goes for all other +HP gear. Pigeon Earrings and BQ Rings aren't made for exp parties where your HP hardly ever drops that low and you are better off with a Vit ring/earring to help prevent your HP dropping quickly.
+75 hp = not that great
# Dec 31 2005 at 7:26 PM Rating: Decent
Having +75 hp really isnt that great. I can understand the Spirits Within damage boost, but by the time you reach the level where this ring can be warn, monsters hit for far more damage than 75hp in one hit. The ring slot is better used with some other status enhancement.

I have to tend to agree man. Even when it comes to end game Gods and Promethia battles is 75hp gona be more valuble then +acc or +str or +int. My guess is probably not. A good whm or Rdm canmake up for the 75 hp this gives.. Lol however the Fight was pretty fun when I got mine lol

No offense, but I think you two are missing the point. The object isn't to use it alone and count on +75 HP to save your ***. It's too augment other pieces of equipment. Dusk gear comes to mind, or the kaiser line of equipment. Think about it:

Dusk gloves: 25HP
Dusk Jerkin: 40HP
Dusk Ledelsens: 25HP
Dusk Mask: HP30
Dusk Trousers: HP35
Bomb Queen Ring: 75HP
Gigant Mantle: 80HP
Carbonara (food): 175HP
Maxed HP merits: 80HP
Total: 565 extra HP.

This can take a Galka NIN from 1,400HP up to 1,965HP. Now *that* is a significant amount of HP.

(Granted no NIN is going to wear all of those pieces of equipment, especially the body and legs slot, this is just an example of why a BQR isn't used on its own.)
How many?
# Oct 09 2005 at 10:54 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know how many it takes to take down BQ? I tried to take her out today she freking whiped my alliance, 16 people..of coarse 2 blms left..screwed us over before fight. I'd like to know the (almost exact) method how to kill this SoB. Anyone got a clue? Thanks for helpin :P. I REALLY want this ring for Gods and HNM I do..would help a lot..

I have this Ring for my Ninja and i use it all the time when i do Spirits within on a highier level Mob. 670 Damage Points to Bune, Genbu, Suzaku, Seyru, Byakko, and other is a cool way to start off a fight.

Um...are you intellectually-deficient? Give me one good reason why any tank fighting a non-fire-based monster would NOT benefit from this ring?

Yes, you could probably have rings that increase STR or other stats...but this ring certainly CAN be very effective in xp situations...not JUST in HNM battles...

Don't you think in an xp situation, having as much hit points as possible so the healers don't have to spam cure you, would be beneficial?

I agree...take it off when a bomb is about to blow...otherwise, it's a pretty damn good ring.

To the one that said a Taru PLD died with this equipped. It was becaue of the fire resist, not because you were taru.

PLD isn't my main but I got it up to 62, I had 100 HP and 4 VIT off an elvaan friend off with my gear(aka Taru rse 2 at 62). Not to mention well over double his mp.

For HNMS Taru may not be ideal, but for EXP monsters you must be a huge ignorant idiot to think they "blow" because EXP monsters are WEAK. I've tanked spiders as a WAR(Even though I don't like warrior tanking 50+) and they never one shot me....with zerk up too......

back on topic this ring is useful for a lot of things. Only thing is avoid this with Bibiki or Cape terrigan Goblins and you'll be fine.

I just tested this ring with ifrit and fire spirit. The mp drain was not affected in anyway.

Please stop spreading wild rumors before you try it yourself.

This ring has absolutely no effect on avatars what so ever.Wait till they put in ifrit's mitts or something. This ring is not it.

If people wear this ring to solo, as soon as they get 75 hp taken off why don't they jsut equip a different ring since they already used the benefits of this one?

Syrup: you can still solo at that level, as SMN or any job with BST sub, as long as your BST is as high or higher level than your main job at the current time. Like if you have a 65 BST and a 62 SAM, you can solo as SAM/BST and still be able to charm like a BST at that level, so I hear.

ive been doing that for months... sept with astral / hercules
electrum / chrysoberyl
mp+8 earring / drone earring
mp+ 12 necklace / vit+2 necklace

when i get this ring, i will surely include into my macro

also, it is good for some pts, and not others.
for example a pt or blm blm blm brd smn pld, you will want hercules on constantly and mayb earth staff / jelly ring. so, a ring or w/e might not be right for all pts. this will be my 7th ring that i use lol

I think Tsukasaz understands what it does, UberFuzzy. But still, its probably more trouble than it's worth to change rings in the middle of a battle. Not to mention at that level, you won't be soloing unless you're farming or a BST.

Nah, switching rings during battle is easy. Just make a macro!

That's a very good idea, Tsukasaz, and I'd bet many people would do that.

Say you have 875 HP max. You're down to 800/875 HP and switch the ring. You now have 800/800 HP and 0 fire resist instead of the -75 it gives.
