Finally got mine today!
The +7 enmity is VERY WELL worth the loss of 7MND and 7CHR.

The drop rate on this is very common, on 6 Fafnirs we've got it 3 or 4 times.

Is there anyone who's fought Fafnir enough to know the drop rate on this helmet? This is the best helment ever for a paladin. +7 enm for one item, particularly a helmet is just plain sick. I'll take -7 mnd and chr just to wear this without thinking twice.

-7MND wouldn't be that much to a level 75PLD im going to assume, as a 57RDM, my Cure IV caps, so im assuming at level 70 even for a PLD that his cure IV would cap, or come very close to it. The hate gathered for a Cure with +7 Enmity even with the lower mind would be much more the that without the helmet.

You misunderstand how MND works. Yes, your Cure IV is capped because your healing magic skill is high. MND actually increases that cap. Thats why WHM in the 50s start doing more than 30 with cure. MND is an overrated stat for PLD, and -7 MND isn't too big a turnoff. This thing is uber.

WHM in their 50s do more than 30 with Cure? My whm is 34 and I barely break 30(was doing 31 last night), so I'd hope a whm in the 50s would do quite a bit more...
RE: Fact

not really, only with light staff do they do over 35 with cure 1, its a basic spell, you can't expect it to heal too much for a lvl 1 spell...

this is acually a pretty good helm, since most Plds use cure to gather hate, the -7 mind wont hurt to bad, as long as they have good whms or Rdms.

well the -7mnd won't do much compared to the +7 enmity...they will have enough hate to last them

Um, too bad that with the Adaman Armor, but subbing in this Helm, the Enmity stack would make it so that you could not loose hate at all. Of course with Provoke, still very strong Cures, and Flash you are unstoppable.

Enmity is SO EFFECTIVE...this helmet is any Paladin's Dream...

R U a GM? or u like to BS all ur eq?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 29 2004 at 1:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is clearly more intended for DRG/SAM or DRK, I really don't think I'd wear this being a PLD, there are other things less painful to increase Enmity....
#Anonymous, Posted: Jul 20 2004 at 12:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol i hope thats a joke, any sam drg or drk who wears this is just plain stupid. why would a drg drk or sam want that much enmity? there not supposed to tank and would die pretty fast if they wore this

A ???/THF could stick this in their SATA Macro. berserk souleater last resort sneak trick WS with this thing = more hate than benediction (heh).
RE: ugh
# Apr 20 2005 at 9:01 PM Rating: Decent
it probably could cause more hate than benediction, too bad no one could ever stack berserk, souleater, last resort, sneak attack, trick attack, and a weapon skill.....

The Aegishjalmr usually refers to the "helm of awe" worn by Odin, used to enhance his prescence so that he cowed his enemies into defeat before the fight even began. However, the word also applies to the symbol on the brow of Fafnir, who got it as a result of killing his father and made his visage terrible to look on - his prescence inspired such fear that no mortal could stand against him. (aegis means auspice or aura; hjalmr means helm or brow). Since Sigurd was a total idiot - I mean, since Sigurd did not understand the concept of fear, he was immune to Fafnir's Aegishjalmr. Since there was a helm in the Andvari, it seems that the power of Fafnir's aegis transferred to it. When Sigurd wore the helm he took from the Andvari, he was unbeatable in battle and his prescence was enhanced. In game, they seem to have altered it so that your prescence inspires such hatred that all enemies turn to you.

it's all about choosing which is better enmity or mnd. and to restate what he said it's great for (elvaan) pld's
RE: Helmet
# Sep 15 2004 at 10:31 PM Rating: Good
for a PLD enmity will always take precedence, the -MND is little more than a ball of lint compared to +enmity, and that much enmity to boot.
