Nice Piece for Blm

Blm of course are going to use their elemental staves, but this is a very valuable piece as well, given the +30 HP>MP conversion. Blm needs the conversion pieces to activate the sorcerer's ring and this is one of the prime pieces, together with zenith gear (btw, the same conversion factor is also valuable to SMN, but not WHM or BRD for their equivalent rings).

Believe it or not this is soloable by a WHM/SAM if you have Spirit Taker. Use Pamamas w/ Primate Staff/Kinkobo and tank with seigan/third eye and Stoneskin.

This is a very good club if you use a Noble's Tunic. Healing +15% is cool and you don't need the Light Staff and +30 MP is so useful. I used to use Asklepios + Astral Shield + Noble's Tunic, it was great. The NM is very easy, killed by me 75 WHM and a friend 75 NIN.

I just got this item. Took me like 3 hours of camping it before he poped. I was afk when he poped and my friend, Shadowkilller, claimed it. hes THF74/NIN37 at this moment when we killed it. Im WHM71/BLM35. We got a link and I kept it slept (a bat) and bound when sleep failed. Used Dia II, Paralyze, Slow etc on the NM and he eventually dropped. Very easy fight for me. Im happy now, got this ubber Club :P

He poped by the colums at (G-7)
huh?!?

Asklepios Origins
# Dec 05 2005 at 5:22 PM Rating: Excellent
n Greek mythology, Asklepios (Asclepius) was the god of healing. He was the son of the Olympian god Apollo and a mortal woman named Coronis.

There is a legend surrounding the birth of Asklepios. According to some ancient sources, Apollo's twin sister Artemis caught the pregnant Coronis having an affair with another man. Artemis punished the betrayal of her brother by killing the woman, but either Hermes or Apollo rescued the unborn child. As an infant, Asklepios was sent to live with the wise centaur Chiron, and in time it was Chiron who taught Asklepios the art of medicine and healing.

Asklepios was married to a woman named Epione, and by her had a pair of sons named Machaon and Podalirius (who, incidentally, were both depicted as physicians in the Iliad of Homer). The god also had a daughter - Hygeia, the goddess who personified health. In mythology and art, Asklepios was symbolized by the snake, and indeed, this creature was commonly associated with the god in cult and ritual. It was also believed that Asklepios took the shape of a snake on occasion.

Although Asklepios was a god, there is a tradition in myth that he died. For it was believed that the god of healing dared to use his powers to bring a human back to life. Zeus, the ruler of the Greek gods, reacted to this action by striking Asklepios with a thunderbolt.

Asklepios was known as Aesculapius in Roman mythology.

^^ Gotta love Greek Mythology

I leveled WHM to get this as part of my uber gear plan. Asklepios + Nobles Tunic + astral aspis/shield.
>D and I'm only a few mil from buying my nobles!

Got this easy, killed PH's for 30min with NIN SAM WHM(myself) all 75. The actual fight took longer then expected but it's easily duod by a RDM and WHM. SAM NIN WHM was just as good =p~ and it seems to be a 100% drop! ^^. <,< Some people tried to MPK us right near the end.. lol it was really sad... like a dozen bats and oly one aggrod which we killed eaily then left >D! <3 this club!

Yay I got my Asklepios last friday ^^ I wish everyone good luck whoever wants to get this, and if ur a WHM, it might be nice to have this. Even if the light staff is better for curing, at least with this club, you can get an extra 30 MP.

i think for whm the combination Asklepios + Holy Shield would work well, especially for tarus as DEF+ and HP+ wouldnt hurt ( and also MND+ ).

as i'm actually static with a smn/whm i almost use more Regen/erase/-na spells/bar- spells/haste than cure so... i will take the 5%... and +40MP +10HP +1MND +13DEF...

i'm planning on sellin my light staff and buyin a Divine Shield... that would become +45MP +15HP +2MND +14DEF.

i'm actually tryin to get the club ; ;

PS : and in some party very well balanced and workin so well that i can melee a bit i would love the club skillup instead of staff that i dont use for melee... and an hexa strike sometime in xp party would be fun ^^

Yeah well, MOST WHMs should be working on Hexa Strike which is a club WS. This club would be good to use while soloing if you have Hexa Strike. I will still keep my Darksteel maul as well though.

hehe I use all of them asklepios, astral shield, and light/dark staves... use dark staff to regain mp while sitting once I hit max, switch to club and shield. Once standing I cast my normail prebattle buffs. (ie regen haste barspell) by that point my mp is lower than what asklepios and shield gives... switch to light staff and heal my azz off. battle over switch to dark staff.. rinse.. repeat ;) simple.

If you're San d'Orian or Bastokan and level 71 or above, you can use Asklepios+Astral Shield for standing, and CP weapon+Astral Shield for sitting (The Reserve Captian's Mace is +7 mana regen, you're only losing +3 and you get it back at 72 and then some anyway)

I made my name in FFXI Asklepios not after this rod but after the Greek God of Health and Healing. I didn't even know this rod exists... but cool! =)

Actually, the first is the best. You equip the club and sheild during the fight, after equip the staff. once your MP has gone up, enough clear minds should be active for you to equip the Club and sheild and get the mp back in 1-2 ticks.

it's really nice to have but really the only jobs that can use it are better off using something else... namely, the elemental staffs.
RE: nice
# Jun 19 2004 at 6:53 PM Rating: Default
Oh I think not, see because this allows you to use an Astral Shield in addition to this. A WHM would only want a Light Staff for the +10% Cure Potency, this however already gives +5%. So which would you rather have? +60 and +5% or +0mp and +10%? Personally I would take the first choice, as would the lv.73 whm I saw with one of these for the first time. I think this is the obvious choice for whm, and quite possibly rdm.
RE: nice
# Jun 20 2004 at 5:08 PM Rating: Default
I would much rather use my light and dark staves because, while resting i switch to my dark staff to get my MP back faster, now if i did that and then went back to this weapon with the astral shield when i got up, that extra 60 MP would be useless. Also for summoners, you musn't forget that elemental staves have -perpetuation on avatars, i'm pretty sure this doesnt. personally id rather have -3 perpetuation + mp while healing and + cure potency than 60 extra MP.. and i think most summoners agree with me...also don't forget how much of a pain in the *** it is to get this thing.
point:
Elemental Staves > This.. unless this has a hidden affect i dont know about

Craciant, you should read the post over before disagreeing with him about saying it is a good weapon for SMN to use, lmao, he said nothing about it being a good weapon for SMN ^^; he said the weapon in his opinion is the obvious choice for WHM, and quite possibly RDM.

RDM can't use this. Light staff is a much better choice for both WHM and SMN. The reason is you would most likely be using it in combination with dark staff. During normal xpingb you would most likely be using dark staff and barely filling back to full mp. However, there are times when an item like this would be better for the excess mp. This would come in handy during an NM fight such as Ose when you probably won't have time to rest.
