I caught 4 of these today at level 51 fishing using a Lu Shang's and meatballs. It cannot break the rod but Ryugu Titan indeed can. It can be traded in hopes of getting an Ancient Sword...doesn't sell for a whole lot on Remora. I did get a fair amount of Lost catch due to skill messages, but got a few skillups despite. Happy hunting!

You can catch this fish in your 50's fishing skill if very lucky. I caught one at just under 60 I believe. Composite or Lu Shang's rod will do, and meatballs or peeled lobster (although peeled lobster attracts almost every other fish on the ferry, whereas meatballs only get bites from Ryugu Titan, Sea Zombie and Silver Sharks as well)

So i was looking in a tarus bazaar while going to get more IB's, and he had a titanictus and it was 306Im/1139Pz, i freaked out. How could you catch a fish this big, does your skill have to be like 100 or is it all luck?

Like a lot of the big ones, you can take this to that NPC, Zaldon, in Selbina and have him cut it open, giving you a chance for some really great items.
This particular one might yield an Ancient Sword, which can only be obtained in this manner, and is worth a huge sum of money.

Use Lu Shang's rod with 90 fishing with fishing clothes on Selbina/Mhura ship to catch this fish. Pretty sure about this.
Yep... this baby's the only fish that can cap your fishing skill. Supposedly, Lu Sheng's is the only rod that won't break catching one. I just wonder what the effects are if you can eat it, or if you can cook anything with it.

It will most certainly break lu-shang's rod. I've seen it happen repeatedly. Luckily enough the person had high enough craft skills and a stack of light crystals to repair it every time.
Now that fish information includes the length and weight of fish caught, I've seen Titanictus come in at a hefty 192Im/909Pz, easily dwarfing both the Gigant Squid and Sea Zombie. He can break any rod in the game.

This isn't what breaks the rod, Ryuga Titan is what breaks it on the boats, lu shangs is the only rod these can't break, but ryuga titan can break all rods.

you must use Meat Ball as bait, and the rod can be Mithran, Lu Shang or Composite supposively.
Fishing gear is helpful, but not needed.
Your correct that the ship between Selbina/Mhura is the only place it can be caught.
