i'm on ragnarok, and i had personally asked istondil to craft that shield for me! ask him yourself. so, since i'm in the know, i'll tell you how much it cost me. personally i dropped about 200k to the crafter and 300k-400k on 4 fairy shields, buying them for 80k-100k apiece(during a price spike)and sending them to him to craft. to craft this, you need a very high skill level(his was capped or near capped) and craft on the right day. it took him 3 tries to do it, he never failed the synth, just made regular nymph shields. the shield is such a status icon to me(check me out sometime in game, i'm a perfectionist for my equipment) but sadly it is the same poly model as the fairy shield.
Hey all, I'm on Fenrir and I was checking out this shield. There were only 2 people in the history at the AH that had it and they sold it to themselves for 1mil, 500k, and 300k. I low bid and got it for 30k. Is it really rare? The regular Nymph shield goes for around 70k, so I know I got a good deal, but I can't decide whether to try and sell it or keep it for later. (WHM 33) Any opinions appreciated!
The Faerie shield used to make a regular nymph shield is already a nice piece of gear. It's an NM drop. It's also identical to the nymph shield, except that the nymph shield has 2 defense and is higher level.
So a person with high woodworking skill who's crazy enough to risk breaking a shield and some expensive lumber to add 2 defense to an already great item, and at the same time raise the level to use it, thereby reducing the number of customers who would be impressed by +3 to all elements, is a rare person.
The chance of them getting a +1 synth, even more unlikely. Getting the +1 is the only thing that makes attempting the recipes worthwhile.
