I got this recipe at level 39 from the guy who gives high level, complex recipes in Windurst. Not sure what that means, exactly, but ten levels seems a tad too high.

I'm trying to make a Lilac Corsage but instead of buying the items, I'm farming for them.

I solo the NM, Habetrot, several times to get 1-3 twincoons to drop. Now my crafting lvl is only 52 and so far I've lost 4 twincoons due to fail attempts. That's 200k lost.

Habetrot is soloable for me, 74 rdm, I don't have too much trouble finishing him off. Make sure to clear out the other crawlers first, they will link. I've seen people, lvls 60-65, get killed by Habetrot.

I highly doubt anyone knows this but... Does anyone know the REAL cap on this? Mystery Tour has it listed as a 44 and here it's 49. I would lean more for 49 from the cap listed for the twinthread but would be helpfull if it was 44....
Trying for profit?
# Sep 24 2004 at 1:59 PM Rating: Decent
@ lvl 52 Cloth I should have no problems making this. However, one day I decided to check the prices of the materials for this and the Twinthread was on auction for about 120k. The twincoons sell for about 60k each. So 120k for the Twinthread, + another 8-12k for the rest of the materials is not worth any profit to make this item. Last I checked, the Lilac Corsage sold for about 100k on my server. Net difference of about -30k.

If anyone plans on making this Corsage for profit, be sure to get the twincoons off of the mobs that drop them, or else u will be in the hole some $. Then again, there would be no point in making an item from materials that sell for more that the item price :P.

I think I see part of the problem with why you're failing. Is it the twinthred you keep loosing? although the corsage shows the level cap as 49, which no one seems to be sure of, the level cap for making the twincoons into thread is posted as being lvl 56. Maybe the level cap is just wrong... Either way I can't test it yet, my clothcraft skill is only 15.
Marriage and Accoutreants

Would they have to allow procreation to make it non-sinful (oh, and wouldn't we all get THAT expansion !!!) or the fact that.... um.... 'procreation' is impossible for anyone make same-sex marriage irrelevant ?

First of all, the NM that drops the Twincoon needed to make the Twinthread, Habetrot, is a forced spawn NM in the Temple of Uggalepih. It is, indeed, a high-level mob, however I've never seen parties fight it, only people solo. (However I also saw a PLD75 almost die from it, had she not been cured by someone else.)

Secondly, this is NOT part of the wedding ensamble. Neither is the rest of the Opaline set. It LOOKS the same as the Wedding set, however it is NOT the same. The Wedding set is Rare/Ex and can only be obtained through the marriage procedure. The Wedding set also includes a corsage.

However, the Gala Corsage makes an excellent engagement present when asking a girl to marry you, especially if you craft it yourself with an HQ crystal, so your name is on it. (My RDM husband-to-be did that for me!) =D

Prices on Siren hover around 90k for Lilac and 120k for Gala.

My mistake it can be crafted. You need twincoons from a high lvl mob in temple of uggapleith.

Drops of high lvl crawler mob in temple of uggapleith. The site doesn't have a lvl rating for it so it must be high.

The HQ synth of this is the "Gala Corsage". It has the same defense, but +1 Charisma. I saw this in the AH in Jeuno (on Ragnarok).

I hate to keep beating this horse to death, but I hope so too. ^^;; Just, I haven't met a lot of cool people playing guy characters that my character (a tarutaru) could marry. The coolest ones I've met were Mithra. XD And of course, all guys playing them. Kekeke.
Male Wedding Clothes

I'd assume they'd allow same sex marriages, most other games do it. I'm wondering what the male wedding outfit is going to look like though, I've only seen female parts to it. Anyone seen or know anything about it?

I would hope they did, not because I have any intentions of "marrying" anyone in the game, but well...I hope FFXI isn't as horribly bigoted as the guys in the white house :p

Well, if they're prudish enough to change how a mithra sits, they kight just be.
Or they just changed it cause enough mithra were complaining about being harassed.

Uhh... guys? SE has a huge MMORPG here that is is likely to attract more attention from ultraconservatve groups than, say, Asheron's Call or something. In the past, MMORPGs were played in text by nerds and nobody's hyper-conservative mother could walk by and see a wedding ceremony between her son playing a girl and some other guy playing a girl. However now we live in the magical world of 3-D easy to see graphics and the games are accessible to a younger audience who is more likely to blab at the dinner table about their activities in Vana'Diel that day. SE knows this, and knows it's better to **** off a few militant liberals who honestly won't do much or even if they try really have a leg to stand on when demanding same-sex marriage to be allowed in a virtual game, as opposed to Christian Fundamentalists who would do crazy **** like take out full page ads in the New York Times and go have bonfires with Final Fantasy games because one kid supposedly thought it was ok for gay couples to marry because of a video game. As inconvinient as it is for some players, I see why S-E has done what it's done, and it's not a matter of closed-mindedness or discrimination but a matter of the bottom line, and trying not to get sued/defamed for an already risky activity for suing/defamation (running an MMORPG).

So you're saying gay marriages are wrong?
nice... You're aware of that that way of expressing yourself gives you the "IQ of Jack Thompson" stamp on your forehead, right?

You're just screaming "I'm a thick headed, mis-informed moron."

~ And oh btw~ At 50 cloth, I managed to synth one of these with a HQ crystal. I don't think I'll be trying it again soon though, I'm convinced I did it out of luck.

Perhaps the most amusing thing about this post is the poster doesn't even have the guts to sign his or her name to a post in which s/he proclaims that SE, or whoever, is standing up for the "right thing" by not allowing same sex marriages. If you have different beliefs, then by all means express them, but at the very least don't hide in anonymity. Makes me question your dedication to said belief.

Beyond that, "sin" is a monotheistic term, belonging almost exclusively, I believe, to "people of the book" (christianity, islam, judaism), of which my character from Vana'diel certainly isn't. He doesn't exist in this world, and is only as real as the life I, as the player, breathe into him. Let's face it, a good majority of players are male, not all, I know quite a few female players as well.

Is it no more convoluted to suggest that two male players marrying their male and female characters is as "sinful" as two players marrying two female characters, or two male characters? Let's keep in mind that sin is a real world term, and while one is grounded in the real world, the other is not.

The only reasonable conclusion I can get out of that is that neither situation makes much sense. For all the storylines my character has been bombarded with, there has never been the slightest hint that my character was guided by the good Book. For that I'm glad, it would totally take me out of the atmosphere of the game to be affronted with the same stuff I could hear at church.

Please, the "right thing" is completely relative based on beliefs and life experiences. Expecting everyone to adhere by your morals and live by your standards is bigoted, because it shows a lack of understanding for others different than you.

I agree with what Shotie says completely, if they're going to force certain genders on people who want to play certain races, it's unfair to expect all couples to be of opposing sexes. In game marriage was never necessary to begin with, but since they did bring it into the game, they should examine the implications of certain prohibitions to marriage.

Funny thing: Run a help desk search for GM, and in the list, you'll see a header about Religion, check it, and you'll find that it's against the TOS to solicit religion in the game, ie: try to convert someone, I believe the actually title for that item is "Someone tried to convert me to their religion, what do I do?", for serious.

Just because you dont understand it doesnt make it wrong...

Besides, it's a VIDEO GAME. And just for example, I am female, with a RL boyfriend-we both play together on the same server, but *gasp* we're both Mithra in the game.

So is it okay for Square to tell us its wrong to be together because we both play a female-only class in the game? If they force characters who wish to be Galkan or Mithra to be a specific gender, then I really think it's unfair to force different-sex weddings...if people could be female galka or male mithra, then I couldnt' see the harm in it so much...but THEY force certain genders on people who want to be a certain race, so they really shouldnt force the gender thing...

Just my two cents.
