Got these last night after 30 mins in Grotto waiting for Fyuu to pop. Took him down in less than a min and got the drop. Only got 7 exp and 700 gil along with the trousers and a sardine. Spent another 2 and a half hrs killing placeholders to try for him again, but he never popped. Currently 2/4 on dropping trousers >.>

Not Real sure, gotten him twice now with no real drop, lvl57Drg, and lvl60Pal.actually, a pretty easy kill.

Ya, i camped this twice w/ my 75WAR/37NIN mithra friend Myau. We camped it on the 29th it popped in about 2 hours (she keeps those placeholders dead very well) but, sadly it only dropped a Quus /cry. Ok, so we decide to go again, this time i actually find a thief (71 w/ nin sub) who ISNT greedy and is going to help us for free (best choice i made ever). ok so we go in again, about 2 hours it pops and we kill it, get the pants ... im 55 whm so you know who got them XD /wink. Anyway the thief mentions getting myaus golden eye. /cheer drops on 2nd killing of the mindgazer. overall a very productive 2 hours lol. so what do we learn from this:

I killed this, the Mermaid tail item dropping NM, and the Exocets NM... kinda messed up when I left SSG with Exocets and Frog Trousers.. now I have some pants to go with my Caraspace helm/body/gloves :-p

Killed it 5 times. I have no idea on the duration of respan on this. One time it was two hours, one time it was 4 and half. After five times without the drop I lost it and left. Oh well. :/

Got these yesterday, I was levelling as a 43 BST in the tunnel at L-13 when I saw the name on my map. Checking on my laptop I found out what the drop was and I HAD to go for it.
Of course I couldn't have done it on my own so my 75 BLM friend Lordwafik came down from jeuno via airship and chocobo, and no-one in that time decided to tackle him.
We fought him together (Guess which one of us did most of the damage) and I when he died I cheered as I saw that he dropped the trousers. It's my first rare drop from an NM, and it feels good.

I dont think he is lvl 70+, i fought it in solo as 60NIN/15THF and it was down in no time and it didnt hit me once. no drop tho.... :(
that a whm can use these, and red mage, but, not blm or smn?

It's just like doublets. WHMs can equip them and BLM can't...

dam this looks like my fantasy pants too as a rdm... but I'll probly go with Combat Casters. If we were on the same server I'd help ya though -_-.

Ya I am not looking for these anymore because I have my AF pants so ya.....
Since the NM Is in Sea Serpents Grotto chances are he's level 70+
He isn't 70+, he's closer to 55ish. I read on another forum (don't remember quite where now exactly) that the highest level songs he used were lvl 57 so thats his approximate range.
I believe he's a tad lower than that, as a level 66 Bard I solo'd him quite easily. With both evasion songs up he couldn't hit me that often, and when he did he didn't hit for much (maybe 30 damage). I wasn't hitting him very hard (maybe 30-40) so it was a long fight, but fairly safe.
I imagine that a melee class 60 and higher could do it quite easily if a bard with subpar combat skills could do it at 66. He was only a little harder than the bard-type and dragoon-type sahagins around him in L-11, if you can fight those you'll be fine. ^^
I'm 0-2 on the drop now. ;;

i found Fyuu the Seabellow's location. It's (L-11). Still looking for level.
