These sandals are not trade-able for a Fields of Valor: Elite Training augmentation. According to wiki, items with latent effects are not trade-able to have augmented in this way.

This just adds more possible evidence of a hidden latent effect.
Latent testing

I spent alot of time trying to understand what these boots do.

As a 41 rdm I tested:

Possible latent regen: HP <50%, <25%, 10% : none
Possible latent refresh: MP <50%, <25%, 10% : none

I also tested increased/decreased movement speed, a possible stumble animation while walking or running: none

I believe there is some sort of latent effect. People state that these are used to level up guarding, but wiki states that guarding proc rate is affected by AGI. So, that doesnt seem right. As for the help with BLU learning blue magic, although they have that use, these appeared in game long before BLU came out.

The fact they are RARE i find rather odd. My theory is that they have a latent magic effect, because of the type of feet gear they are, and a melee effect would have to be substantial to outweigh the -10dex stat.

Take it all with a grain of salt, but it just doesnt seem right that both Toby and the triple black stars were implemented in/pre zilart and have nothing to offer. Was it SE's intention to put in such odd mysterious things so early in the games life?
Minus AGI
# Aug 21 2009 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
Q from user below: "Do these help if I wanted to skill up parry? Or should I focus on +dex/agi?"

Yes, you want to have "maximum agi minus" and "evasion minus" so that the hits you would have evaded are not evaded and instead will be parried/guarded more often.
Hmmm...

Yeah yeah yeah, time for all the "Oh ************** and whatnot responses, but whenever i had these equiped with sushi, i seemed to be hitting more then with my Federation Kyahans... I dont know why, or from what, but that was the only piece of equipment i changed. Im not saying it has a hidden effect, but thats just what happened when i used them.

Let all the nay-sayers be heard!

Just a thought, but has anyone tested this with Kick Attacks? Like maybe it similar to Kung fu/wulong/dune boots, Maybe adds dmg to kicks... And I'm a monk, so I know monk doesn't get kick attack til 51, so why would they put that on a lvl 22 item when it would be useless til 51? Well, you never know, SE is crazy like that lol XD

I have been trying to get me a pair of these ever since my MNK hit 22 since I wanted to raise my guarding-skill.
But there was none in any of the AHs (on fairy) for a very long time, like a month at least since last one got sold. My levels were too low to solo Toby and no-one that I asked seemed too entusiastic about spending hours trying to get a drop that gave -10 DEX and AGI. So I waited. And waited.
But just beeing more avare of the guard-skill (avoiding evasion+ and such) when soloing, my guard started to raise, slowly but steady. But anyway I still wanted them.
And then one day, doing another job, looking for other stuff, there was a pair in AH in Jeuno. I didn't carry that much money but enough if they went for the same price as the last one sold. But no such luck. After giving a few more bids I started to get frustrated and told my son (who offered to borrow me money) that I could probably camp Toby myself soon anyway.
But being offline a few hours they were still there when I came back! So I started to scrape every coin from my mules and tried a few bids again and bought them for 160k in the end.
I barely had money enough to leave Jeuno without walking after that but I was happy as a larque.
I will probably try to camp Toby sometime soon, not for getting the gil back but for my "NM-collection". And these sandals I will keep very long. At least till I get other foot-wear that better serve their purpose.

Well, after unlocking BLU I also found new uses for these: You can get spells from weaker mobs but the problem is if they don't hit you more than one in ten and only for 1 damage it can take forever to make the mob do the move you want it to do. Put these on and take other things off and things may go a little smoother. Actually by taking off equips while beaten on by a weaker mob makes it easier to control than "dressing right" for a harder opponent, and control is not a bad thing when it comes to getting BLU-spells.
...so, yea, BLU can wear them too...

Probably because the SS of the item was taken before BLU was released.

Theres a BCMN that reverses all your + stats. SO if you were these boots in that BCMN you will get +10 Dex and AGI instead of -. Mal rings (lvl 36) are good for this bcmn also.

Thats what these boots are for.

These don't make you stumble, if you look at all the character anmiations through the model viewer program, there is no stumbling animation for any of the races, so that's just a lie someone started.

# Jun 28 2005 at 8:52 AM Rating: Decent
Maybe it can be desynth into something interesting like the femina subligar sold in tavnazia safehold, who knows...

These are good for skilling up counter.
Crap
# Jun 18 2005 at 5:30 PM Rating: Decent
Worthless, unless there is some hidden effect or combination effect. If the crap about Maat having the same stats as you were true you could just unequip all your gear before you enter, and that should be good enough. ***** these things.

When you get into the BC for Maat, he ... checks you and adjusts to your stats. If you zone in with no gear or gear with really bad stats, he'll adjust to that. Then you can reequip your serious gear. The -10DEX and -10AGI on this would really help.

Something I just learned. <.< So I'll be finding a pair of these to use. ..cause uh.. So far.. the score is...

he Useto... but not anymore, they changed that, cuase everyone was using Mal rings, and such to make maat too easy, so he no longer takes your stats, which means you can go in fully clothed, and he wont be any harder...and no he doesnt have your HP, his is alot higher, cuase a DRK, WAR, or RNG could pretrt much 1 shot him

Maat does not take on your stats. He may take on to a degree, but he definitly does not have your stats.

The sheer fact that I can run in and Hit him with Raging Rush for over 2000 dmg and still have to hit him with another proves that.

this could give monk an early kick attacks instead of waiting for higher levels, like indra katars give you triple attack without you having to be thf. also, it could be that if your paralyzed or slowed you get a status boost, near death or some common thing like that, i really dont know anything for certain though

I bet this is like the opo opo crown, and if you eat some kind of food with it it'll give like +18 DEX and +18 AGI giving a net +8 DEX/AGI. That'd be neat. Anyone tried anything like that, perhaps with treant related foods?
Ranged

Would I be correct in assuming these would help to skill up throwing, marksmanship, and archery?

No... not unless there is an unproven hidden effect. -10 AGI would do just the opposite, and make it harder to hit, and thus skill-up, ranged skills.

i dont think S-E made this just for maat, you think they wouldn't want you to cheat like the $20 for 100k thing, probably just for fun or somethin...
