Bomb Core great probably the end game ammo slot item for most drks, was not camped (well by friends because we were in a static and ran into each other) It is a general easy fight. If you could switch out ammo slot items without losing tp that would be great but isn't realistic especially for rngers and sames

Drk can pull with an Absorb, or a quicker Poison, War can always voke (maybe not a good idea always, though) and Nin (And Thf too when subbing Nin) can pull with Ninjutsu. So even if you have no darts left you generally still have options.
Don't risk tossing it!

You don't lose TP from changing ammo only weapons and range weapons like bows and xbows
Bomb core macro for pulling

Best macro i found for pulling and using this item:

/equip ammo
/equip ammo "Darts"
/p Pulling <t>!
/ra <t>
/wait 3
/equip ammo "Bomb core"

You will never throw the core even if you run out of darts (because of the first line which removes your ammo). Only time you will throw the core is if you spam this macro over and over. Otherwise it's pretty safe.

It's also pretty annoying if you are out of range or "cannot see" whatever you wanna pull and you have to wait the 3 seconds after the macro so that it equips the dart properly again. Also, changing your ammo slot "blinks" your character so it will stop auto-run:/ kind of annoying on the run back, but better than wasting a lot of gil.
RE: Bomb core macro for pulling

Ok I just got a Bomb Core. As a Warrior I don't pull often but I do sometimes and I'd hate to throw this thing cuz I'm always broke ><;;; Okay so I found this macro and was like well thats a start I don't pull w/ darts i like boomerangs {Go, go, Gadget boomerang!}TM ;p

So I was playing w/ it and here's a little bit of a change up that works and "I" find I like it better

Bomb Core Pulling Macro v2:

/equip ammo <--
/equip range "Long Boomerang" <--
/p Pulling <t>!
/throw <t>
/wait 5
/equip ammo "Bomb core"

Yes this does work and the best thing is if for some reason you forget to have your Bomb Core in your ammo slot and say you left your long boomerang or whatever boomerang type weapon it will skip over the first two lines in the macro (marked by the "<--") then it will throw the boomerang and equip the bomb core for you reguardless.

I have tested this extenstively and have never threw it or been in trouble where i thought i would. Hope this helps someone.

::edit::
omg, this kinda sucks as it makes you lose TP when you make the change >< so nvm lol

Its not hard to make the money for this, it will last you until 75 and it is a luxury item so people will most likely think your good too XD

Oh and P.S if you are dumb enough to not macro this out for your Ranged Attack macro then you seriously need to delete the macro.

(e.g)

/equip Ammo "Wooden Arrow"
/ra <t>

not that hard is it? i have this macro'd all the time on my DRK.

Yeah, but his example is: bomb core > Bow+arrow. You can't just throw an arrow so you'd need to switch from Ammo > Range+Ammo which will make you lose TP. Thus the reply on TP loss.
Wear it!

Having read everyones advice I removed all my ranged macros and looked forward to equipping it when I hit 63.

First XP party I get im trying to close a skillchain and am mid-menu so I quickly go to what I think is my weapon abilities, and you guessed it >< ranged attack.

/em waves goodbye to bomb core.

Only up to 1mil on Caitsith. Think I'll pass on buying a second. ><

This item is monopolized by a Ninja named Kingkuon on Pandemonium 24/7. This just jumped 200k over night from 800k to 1 million. Just when my Ninja reached 63 ><
Throwing Story
# Sep 19 2005 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
I have yet to throw mine, but I am in fear of it happening some day, as everyone is. Well I know a Warrior who threw it in PT one day. He said that now he was on his 4th Bomb Core because of throwing it. >< take a lesson from him and dont throw it. Change out all Ranged Attack macros to another way to pull before equiping this. Or you can just equipment change back and forth. For Drks, just Poison/Stone pull.
Good luck, dont throw this!

I was going to finally do the SAM quest and was in in Konschtat Highlands about to kill Forger.

"Maybe I should build TP first"

Kill a bunch of stuff, get 70% TP.

"Hmm, lost a few HP, guess I better usea bloody bolt"

Use ranged macro, swicthes to darts, loose TP

"Well damn, guess I better.."

(cue ominous music)

".. get rid of that equipment switch"

Woops, looks like I have my ACC gear on, I really should have my Attack gear. (punches Attack gear macro)

(gets 90% TP again)

"hmm, lost a few HP, that sapling over there should provide enough HP and give me 100% TP before I kill Forger".

(throws bomb core)

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Moral of the story: Always leave your Bomb Core in your safe when you're not EXPing.

. . . . . . . . .

You were worried about TP and HP on a lvl 30 NM when you're obviously over 30 lvls higher being able to wear a bomb core?

HOW STUPID ARE YOU!!!

A freakin 63 SMN could kill it buck naked and bare handed.

I was pulling in moon the other day. I unequiped this for the party to make sure I wouldn't shoot it...But I had to go and experiment with it one fight and then I managed to shoot it. 400k down the drain. Now its 600k and I gotta go buy it again >.>
Not for dragoon or monk :(

Why didn't they make this equipabble for DRG or MNK which would get most out of it??
/sigh
They really should make this equipable for DRG that has no real use for this slot for except optical needle or kakanpi which give accuracy, but are very hard to get. I would love one of these if made equippable by DRG.
OUCH!

Does having multiple bomb cores, like a full stack in your throw slot affect your attack values. 12x12 = +144 attack? or does it only give you 12? i think they would only give you 12 attack. Its like saying a full stack of scorpion arrows gives 5 r.acc x 99 = +500 ish r.acc.

No. I tried with items with MP, attack, INT, etc., and found none of it stacks.

IBHalliwell - As I was leveling my SMN, I threw my Fortune Egg. /sigh - I wish there was some way to lock the item to prevent throwing by mistake.

I'm going to use this for my thf/nin when I hit 63. How to pull? Ninjitsu. Slower pulling, but I believe the +12 <attack> is worth it. We can always use /flee to close in on an exp chain, and using this in my ranged weapon slot just enourages me to pull with a helpful debuff ^_-

Edit: I just heard that you can use a nifty pulling macro that does not involve ninjitsu, and still use this. Now I can use this as a /war if I want to. Macro involves switching ammo to dart, and then pulling with that. I just hope the wait never screws up and throws my bomb core ; ;...Anyway, this method allows you to pull without ninjitsu and without losing TP.

I don't know which I would rather use...My CCB+2, or this...12 attack is a lot...probably worth it to use the core...dunno though...I'm level 64 THF as of 2/15/05 and the 5 acc from my Combat Casters Boomerang +2 really helps.
