Doesn't RNG have a skill that allows you do use a ranged attack without using the ammo? That's the only use I can see for this, besides BRD or PLD / WAR equipping it for the CHR boost.
I've been mulling it over, and I can't think of why one would equip this item. The only real bonus you get from it is CHR +3 and Healing Regen +3. The only way the Ranged Accuracy bonus counts is if you're throwing something, which would be the Egg itself. Soooo... seems pretty useless to me, unless you just REALLY need the extra 3 CHR/Healing Regen bonuses. (And at that level, I don't think either would make that much of a difference.)

1st off, you would never throw this item, forget that this item has the provoke effect, it will never ever be used for provoke.
this item likely goes for 1 million+ gil (although someone said 5 million+). its because its probably one of the best ammo slot items and when you are dealing with the items that are the best in the game, they tend to be in high demand since everyone wants the best. plus its probably extremely rare
but again, the additional effect of provoke should be ignored

i went to the AH in bastok on Pandimonium server and it was about 5million... and i've never seen a lvl 75 use/have one equiped. ~~~~~~~:(

I dunno... using 9's all the time seem to generic to me... maybe someone (a hacker lets say) Made it and put it into the other servers... but then again, the de-bug team would probably be on top of it in now time... Oh well, I'm FAR from 75, so I don't have to worry about it for a while. ^.^
Honestly this looks only like something beastmaster would use for the +chr, like mages with the morion tathlum. 999 delay means it won't make for a good emergency provoke because whoever is getting hit will be dead before you throw it. And I'm sure this thing is far, far to expensive to use for it's damage, and at level 75 weapons are already pretty strong, unless one is a mage(Who has more important things to do and probably can do without the added provoke effect) they'd be better off just attacking.
As it is Ammo and not Ranged slot then it is a single use item. No idea if they are stackable or not but would be usefull for when you need that "one more provoke." But rather expensive I imagine.
I was the one who submitted this item... I found it in a level 75 RDMs Bazaar in Jeuno on the Alexander server. Soo... I didn't know any of the specifics of how/where to get it originally, but the item was so tempting that I took a screen just in case. ;)
How do you get this thing? It looks better than the phantom tathlum and bomb core but together.

Any idea if this, like a boomarang has unlimited uses?
2 things :
A) In order to know if it has unlimited use, someone has to test it by throwing it, not gonna happen, except by accident.
B) AFAIK, FFXI runs well on dialup.
