You can't really "synth" it out of random materials. You can only sign it.

1. Get the ring (Either Pollux or Castor)
2. Use 1 Wind Crystal on it to get rid of the Rare/Ex
3. Use 1 Cyclone Crystal on it to sign it

So that people dont have to scroll down through a bunch of idiocy

The rings are commonly signed and used by couples because they are fairly unique.

I traded this to Elmo and he gave me an ounce of weed...It was a good trade ;D
having both rings...

hmm...i wonder what would happen if u equipped both the castor ring and pollux ring at the same time. o and Castor and Pollux Troy r in a movie called Faceoff w/ Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. Castor and Pollux are brothers in crime in this movie. Btw it's a really good movie every1 should c it. I think it's funny also that Troy is another thing related to ancient Greece.
quest is pointless

Who would want a rare/ex ring that does nothing??? who would waste their time other than getting fame
quest is pointless

I'd do this quest just for the sake of having it in my Completed List. ^^

"Castor was famous for taming and managing horses, and Pollux for
skill in boxing. They were united by the warmest affection, and
inseparable in all their enterprises. They accompanied the
Argonautic expedition. During the voyage a storm arose, and
Orpheus prayed to the Samothracian gods, and played on his harp,
whereupon the storm ceased and stars appeared on the heads of the
brothers. From this incident, Castor and Pollux came afterwards
to be considered the patron deities of seamen and voyagers."

Any Beastmasters or Monks try these rings? I read this on some Greek mythology site and thought it interesting. Probably are just "gift" rings but ya never know.

The Castor's ring is not a wedding ring so why the hell are people asking about weddings in here?
# Jul 03 2005 at 12:44 AM Rating: Decent
im gonna clear this up now and tell you all what this ring is for. NOTHING. if you paid attention to the cutscene u would know this is just a gift for someone else or a wedding ring. or if u want go tell a noob it gives the wearer +10 to TH. maybe he'll buy it for a mil who knows

You know, some people sometimes speak without knowing. YES it can be traded, I have one that my fiancee gave me as an engagement ring. So YES it can be traded. Rare/Ex? Yeah, try using a Cyclone crystal on it... it might give u a surprise when you see the Rare/Ex gone and your name signed on it. Funny eh? I am in Asura, if u ever wanna see it.

Also, you might want to read the forums before insulting someone about something that you can read a little lower if u kept reading. Might make you look less of a fool u know...

Perhaps you believe being wrong and insulting makes someone look like a fool. I personally, believe attempting to stand up for someone while using "u" rather than typing those two simple letters y and o, make you look like an unintelligent fool.

Gotta love how people who know everything know nothing about manners.

I remember when the truly knowlegeable tried to correct the ignorant in a polite, even courteous ways (think of a good school teacher as an example). Now we feel so superior to other players that we go out of our way to be rude to them. Some kind of need to prove to the world that we are smart because we called someone a name or threw out a poorly masked insult along with a correction.

Kind of sad frankly.

Especially over something as stupid as this ring.

It doesn't sell on AH, and you can't make a +1. You also can't send through Delivery Box. It can only be traded or put in bazaar.
# Jun 10 2005 at 6:13 AM Rating: Decent
Ever got the idea of making a castor's ring +1 :p

Does it sell on the AH XD

Hmmm... no hidden effects that I know of. I've been asked it all the time, and now I just tell people it gives Happiness +20 and all stats +15 when the person who signed it is in your party... just for the sake of bullsh*tting them. lol But yeah, no hidden effects (that I know of). I wear it all the time, and my stats stay the same. But I am very curious as to why it's even in the game and what purpose it serves. Maybe it's just meant for a gift, kinda like a wedding ring (which is what most people use it for).

I did the quest on my mule, got both the Castor's Ring and the Pollux Ring, took off the Rare/Ex, signed them with Cyclone Crystals, and gave them to a friend. So it's basically like a wedding ring or friendship ring whatever.

Here are some screens if anyone is interested in seeing (and proof that it can be signed):

since you can remove the rare/ex status of the ring, has anyone tried wearing them both at the same time?

I think i'm gonna try this tomorrow. I'll post my results when I find out ^^

castor and pullox rings huh? wonder what it means.... now I'm definately starting to beleive theres some significance to this.... there was castor and pullox troy and now in the kingdom of san doria we again see to brothers bickering with each other. certainly this must in some way, shape or form play some greater significance... and by a way, I noticed a post earlyer that said something about someon wandering around with their name on their ring.... thats easy... you have to be part of that particular craft guild that allows you to craft the ring and then once your high enough level your allowed to buy special crystals which when used allow you to inscribe your name on anything you craft under that guild.

just wondering, to anyone who has messed with the ring enough to know.. I synthed the ring with a wind crystal just last night, and it did indeed take off the rare/ex status of the item. I was just wondering, will I be able to synth the NEW castor's ring with a cyclone crystal and sign it, or am I S.O.L.?

I've had the Fit for a Prince quest open for 3 months lol..finding a taru chick with green hair parted in the middle blah blah blah isnt easy in sandy, and i havent cancelled and reopened quest.

Anyways, my point was that someone told me that having the wedding ring and actually getting game married does give an extra stat. When you party with your game hubby and you have rings on you get XP bonus...as I havent done quest I cant test this....so someone try it and post it here.

i see these all the time, but no one know what the heck theyre for, lol. there has to be a point. why all that for just a 'worthless' item? i dunno.. maybe there's a reasoning too complex for my simple kitty mind :<

I asked one of my high level friends, and he suggested that it could have some sort of hidden stats. I have no idea how probable this is, but it IS a possiblity...

I got this item from the quest... I had started to think that there was no Mithra with red hair tied back by a brown band, but found one eventually, when i wasn't looking :-)
Synthed it with the wind crystal and is no longer Rare/ex.
Since i let my wife choose my character for me i am a blonde pigtailed taru female, and as such i have no interest in marrying another bloke!
I figured i'd have a go at selling it. AH won't accept it, even without rare/ex status :( and i have never seena anyone selling it before. any suggestions on value? i have it at 500k at the moment, probably optimistically. Are there any other rings which can also be used for weddings?

help appreciated, many thanks ^^

Edit - Why could i not reply to these posts? I could only start my own new topic /cry

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 12 2005 at 8:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You all really need to THINK for just a few minutes to find a good reason (benefit) to getting married. The best one in my opinion is that you guys can buy each other things you need or at least share the cost of a certain item. Go to the forums for various items on this website and you will always see people saying that they want to buy this item for their husband/wife, am I not correct? ITEMS AND EQUIPMENT THAT ARE SOMETIMES WORTH A MILLION GIL! Is anyone following me?! So please correct me if I am wrong in this "benefit" i'm pretty sure its a good one <(^.^<)(>^.^)>
