Level 30 Subjob Items

There are level 30 Earrings, Shields, Belts and Mantles that all trigger on Latent Effects. These all correspond with a job.
All of them activate via Subjob. Nothing else will trigger these to activate, NOT main job, ONLY subjob.
The newest jobs (Blu, Cor, Pup) do not have these items (as of 7/27/06).
Subjob: Bard - Singer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Song Belt)
Subjob: Beastmaster - Trimmer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Pick Belt)
Subjob: Black Mage - Wizard's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Staff Belt)
Subjob: Dark Knight - Killer (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Scythe Belt)
Subjob: Dragoon - Wyvern (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Lance Belt)
Subjob: Monk - Wrestler's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Cestus Belt)
Subjob: Ninja - Genin (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Sarashi)
Subjob: Paladin - Esquire's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Shield Belt)
Subjob: Ranger - Beater's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Gun Belt)
Subjob: Red Mage - Warlock's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Rapier Belt)
Subjob: Samurai - Ashigaru (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Katana Obi)
Subjob: Summoner - Magician's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Avatar Belt)
Subjob: Thief - Pilferer's (Earring, Mantle, Aspis, Dagger Belt)
Subjob: Warrior - Mercenary's (Earring, Mantle, Targe, Axe Belt)
Subjob: White Mage - Healer's (Earring, Mantle, Shield, Mace Belt)

There are other Latent effect items that trigger at different things such as Low HP, <100% tp, a bard song on you, This is NOT one of those items.
The only thing that activates these items is your subjob.

Wow all these question o n what jobs it works for. Why dont you just go through subingyou different jobs and see which one it works for. I noticed allot in this game Trail and Error works out allot, like most things in life. Anyways i liek this earring and think its great. Im using my Thf as a wannabe rng for the promyvians so this helped me out allot. I figured thats what these latent equipment is for.

Therefore, my ignorant question is, do all "latent" affects on items apply only to the sub job? I mean, if RNG is my main job, is this earring basically worthless?

These level 30 'latent effect' items seem like they are designed for when one may be using an uncommon job/subjob setup, and need a little boost.

A perfect example is for my RDM - when I am in an XP party, I only use BLM or WHM subjob. But when I go out farming I will use a specific subjob depending on what my targets will be. If I'm going Cluster farming, I'll sub RNG for WideScan and upgraded attacks. If I'm doing other random farming, I'll sub THF for Treasure Hunter. If I am going to do some skill up of an unleveled weapon, I will sub DRK so I can Aspir and keep going for longer without resting.

These rings and earrings can help make one of these unusual combos more useful. And lots of fun too. ^^

No, the ones that are job specific usually require you to be a below a certain percentage of hp (In the yellow etc.)

Actually those are the lvl 50+ Latent's, the lvl 30 latent's, such as Targe's, Earrings, and mantles, require u to have a desired sub. For Beater's, RNG. Genin, NIN. Ashigaru, SAM. etc etc

what is wrong with you people?? the lvl 50+ is job specific and as the guy said is based on low health. but everyone rated him down. then this guy done'st even answer the dude's question, but repeats the question as an answer and gets rated up.

I didn't do a rate down, but this post is on the page for a lev 30 earring, not the lev 50 stuff.

These lev 30 earrings _do_ require a specific subjob, and the latent traits are always active with the correct sub.

He probably got rated down for being slightly confusing in the wrong thread. ^^ I say this as he said 'the job specific ones' - well they are ALL job specific, it's just that some of them are specific to the main job and others to the sub.

To the OP: it depends on the specific equipment for when the latent kicks in - these level 30 earrings do require a specific subjob, while some (or all?) of the level 50 ones activate when your HP low. Possibly other triggers for other items too - but different items' latents do get triggered in different ways - they're not all the same.

Subjob: Ranger

Latent Effect: Ranged Accuracy: 3

For this earring, Latent Effect is activated when you have Ranger as your Sub Job.

I heard that the "latent effect:" is specific to the item.. would be kewl if the latent effect was a ninja sub. Cuz that is what I use for leveling my Rng :)

Does anyone know which subjob is required for this latent effect? I'd assume you'd need to sub Rng to for this to take effect?

This ring is activated by subbing Ranger. The Genin Earring, which gives +4 agility, is activated by subbing Ninja.

This would be the best earring in the game, if it wasn't the damn "latent" effect

I rather like the +accuracy one myself.

Now, if I could just convince a party to let me sub BST. (Is that the right job?) :)
