99-100

Just in case anybody was wondering how many of these it takes(roughly) to get 99-100, I personaly made 24 cursed soups for a total of 0.6 skillups.

I got the other 0.4 off red curry, I only did this when dragon meat was cheaper than red curry. I got the 0.4 off 7 synths(I think this was an extremly lucky rate of skillups).

The first 11 cursed soups i made actually gave me no skillups at all, so dont give up if you have a bad run. Those royal jellys are annoying to farm, but it is perfect for leveling up your NPC if it is not already higher level.

well....im glad to see that at least 1 of the level 100 cooking skill items can be crafted regularily. most of the ingredients dont seem too tough to get for this one. royal jelly can be easily found on the bees in crawlers' nest. whats our other option? red curry....one of the ingredients only drops off 3 NMs according to alla....dont think ill be skilling up on that.

So I've heard that it can and cannot give skillups before level 99.

I'm currently 96.1 and would love to use this to get to 100 due to increasingly high Fresh Mugwort prices.

Can anyone confirm that it does indeed give skillup before 99?

Confirmed, i hit 95 with these just now. Got 0.4 from 94.9 (a little low, but right direction, synth support, day and water staff helped) to 95.3 on 12 synths.

Was a little upset to find that i couldnt sign them. Bought 4 torrent crystals from NPC and crafted them, just to test out, and none of them signed ; ;

Only way to show my cooking off to anyone is to sign red curry. -.-

At 200k per meat.... dont think ill be signing one just yet
lol

yeah, i know this is good food for higher lvls (got it @ 75 on thf, from Ulli (not sure if hes the only one that drops it)
but...i couldn't help it this food kicks some serious *** as a lvl 1 character..just gotta be careful not to die... lmao i managed to survive :)
anyways fun food
skill up

I would recomend the skill up on these by far the cheapest but farming those will not be a fast thing FYI

Can someone confirm for me that this gives you -7 on all stats?

I'm going to be doing Promyvion Holla, and the boss there does Trinary Tap, which takes 3 of your buffs, including your food ... this would be great food to start off with ... really put a dent in his defences and offences.

Thanks!

cursed...?soup...?
Cursed Soup...Ambrosia
# Apr 16 2005 at 1:15 PM Rating: Decent
Cursed soup when "Uncursed" turns into Ambrosia which gives +7 to ALL stats, not -7 as someone mentioned above. You need an abjuration to uncurse it, then head to the cathedral to get it uncursed. none in stock on my server, but the cursed soup goes for about 2.8k.
Synthing before 99
# Mar 16 2005 at 6:53 PM Rating: Excellent
Just to debunk any rumors, it is possible to successfully synth this item with a cooking skill below 99. I made one at 95.3 myself. (No skillup, though ; ;)

I'm assuming that this now lasts 3 hours since it is unstackable...

Extremely nice for mages of any kind and even something for melees to glance at, though I'm sure anything with +% to attack would be preferable.

Still, as a SMN the +MP regen is fantastic and BLM's and WHM's can benefit from the +stats as well.

I'm currently at 90 cooking and won't be making this anytime soon, but how early can I start trying? I know I can grow Kitrons and Periskoes on my own, but Royal Jelly is a bit tougher to come by and I don't want to gather materials too soon and lose out on a chance to make something good...

recipe correction
# Oct 04 2004 at 1:19 AM Rating: Excellent
After spending several hours farming the royal jelly off the Death Wasps in CN, I would like to save future level 100 cooks the trouble of travelling to Windhurst for the CORRECT recipe...

Cursed Soup = Kitron x1, Persikos x1, Honey x1, Royal Jelly x1, and Distilled Water x1 synthed with Water Crystal

If you use oblation abjuration it removes the curse. This ex item is obtained from killing NM's in Ve' Lugannon Palace and other areas in sky. Not sure what happens after curse has been removed

I tried it, and it reduced all my stats to that of a lvl 1 taru mage. Also it deleted all the items in my mog house, and gave all my gil to gil sellers. It was awful.

level cap?
# Jun 23 2004 at 12:12 AM Rating: Decent
does this cap at 100?

I'd assume so, since there aren't any other recipes listed as capping at 100, and there has to be a way to get there...

Yes, this cooking recipe caps at 100 according to Moogle.
Rumor has it...

Rumor has it that with the correct abjuration this will become Abrosia, which is most likely rar/ex. (listed on Mystery Tour).

This is without a doubt, bar none, the best food item in the game. Supposedly lasts 90 minutes, all stats up by 7. Mp and Hp regen while healing +7.

I would definitely eat one of these against Maat if I found out how to get the abjuration and what type is needed.

Honestly, I wouldn't call it the best. It's definitely cool, and has fun stats. . . but who really uses all of those? Most jobs would really benefit more from foods that boost more specific stats, like ATK for melee, or MP for mages. It's definitely good, but each individual job can find something substantially better.

Ive been wondering about how these cursed cooking items worked for a while, and finally (probably) figured it out.

Check out the drops listing for the lvl 50 Qu'Bia Arena BCNM: http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/bcnm/04Qu'BiaArena.htm#Qu'Bia4

Libation Abjuration and Oblation Abjuration which uncurse the beverage and soup, respectively it seems. Seems likely the soup turns into ambrosia (since the stats are pretty much opposite) no sign of what the beverage turns into (but its likely a combined HP/MP regen effect or soemthing since the cursed version drains those)

Having located the correct abjurations, i noticed that these are also listed as dropped by several probably very high level NMs in the Tu'Lia region (HNMs maybe?): http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/nm/00nmlist.htm

I just finished a BCNM60 in Qu'Bia called Celery. My party of 3 did the BCNM twice, and both Libation Abjuration and Oblation Abjuration dropped both times, so I'd assume it's a definite drop.

I'll let you know when I hit 99 in 20 years if that's true =p. It's that or close though, I got it off the advanced guy at 94.

I'm not looking forward to growing my own kitron/persikos, that's for sure.
what level do you need to make it?
# May 30 2004 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
I wonder what level it is

I tried making it but I couldn't. :(

Anyone have any clues?

Um.... Cursed? Probly just like all the other cursed items. Need an Abjuration then mix em together at a NPC and get an amazingly good item XP.
