Is it possible to break the staff in campaigns?
Dynamis WS Pts.

I don't see this mentioned here, but I just learned (since I needed 357 points to break it [and I got 57 points in Dynamis tonight]) that you cannot use your weapon and expect to gain points for it in Dynamis. They will not count, sadly.

Thought if anyone wants to know, I have a 72 WHM and 75 BRD. I capped staff on bard at 230 got this and went onto my WHM which has 217 and did spirit takers on my WHM on EP mobs. The latent wore off when a few people told me that i have to be on my BRD in order to break the latent. :/

I did about 200 spirit takers/full swings and SC'd with my npc for 1 hour and 30 mins. I love my NPC, No one would help me but she did. Took roughly 5-7 hours x.x I hope i win the WSNM.
Do all weapon skills count?

I'm on the quest as a 73SMN/WHM and have been doing the "Spirit Taker" weapon skill. A person messaged me staying not all weapon skills count, specifically the "Magical Weapons Skills" don't count.

Anyone know one way or the other?

What your friend probably meant was that magic weapon skills can't perform skillchains, thus making it take 3 times longer (can't make dark or light with any of the weapon skills)

I just completed the first part of the quest by "breaking" the pole/staff. By my count I did 280 Spirit Takers and 20 Full Swings.

So, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt Spirit Taker is valid.

Ifrit's Cauldron. He didn't seem too hard when we killed him.
weapons of trial
# May 24 2004 at 4:22 PM Rating: Decent
All weapontypes have a x of trial that are recieved from NPC's in order to obtain a certain 230+ skill WS. Some require 230 skill, some more ( in order to recieve quest). Latent effect is +hp on all trial weapons, and you know you've done enough skillchains/ws's when you no longer receive HP effect from the weapon (the latent effect+hp still remains as a description on the weapon though) Then travel to the destination in question, inspect a ???, kill the NM, inspect again, get Annals of Truth (or maybe Writing of Trials on some, not sure hehehe) and return to quest NPC for WS reward.

You may only have 1 WS quest at any given time, so you must complete it before you may recieve the next. I'm not sure if this applies to after you've made the 300 points of skillchains/ws's, but I believe that you cant have 2 trial weapons at once (I might be mistaken :p)
Blood and Glory

Here's the deal with this pole. Once you achieve Lv.71 and Staff Skill 230+ speak to Shantotto (the AF quest giver) to get the quest (Blood and Glory) for your final WS. She will give you this pole which you must use until the latent effect wears off, and here's how you do it:

-You must accumulate a score of 300pts. Points are earned for every WS and skillchain your staff is involved in.
Regular WS- 1 pt.
Lv.1 Skillchain- 2 pts.
Lv.2 Skillchain- 3 pts.
Lv.3 Skillchain- 5 pts.

-These must be done on enemies that con EP or harder.

Once you obtain the required points, return the pole to Shantotto. You are then sent to Ifrit's Cauldron to kill an NM. Head to F-6 from the entrance and go down to the next map. From there head to H-7 and click on the ??? to spawn Cailleach Bheur. Once you defeat it you will recieve the Writing of Trials. Return this to Shantotto to recieve your final staff WS- Retribution.

Note: This information was gathered from Mysterytour.

Am I correct in the assumption that any "Weapon of Trials" is related to the quest to obtain the final weapon skill for weapons of that class?

It's quite possible that this is the case. The quested weapon skill for staff "Retribution" can be used by war/mnk/blm/pld/brd/drg/smn... the exact same jobs that can use the staff.
