I'm curious if anyone has synthed one of the rings using a wind crystal to remove the Rare/Ex and then synthed it using a guild crystal to sign it. I want to give the Pullox ring to someone but the only way I can get it is if it's traded/sold to me. So I was wondering if it can be signed after the original synth...

I'm answering a very old question here, but in case anyone else wonders this, the answer is "Yes."
You may first remove the R/E by "desynthing" the ring with a normal Wind crystal, which makes it tradable/bazaarable. Then whomever you give/sell it to may sign it with a Cyclone crystal.
Anyone wondering about the point of this, here's your answer: It's just a simple way to have makeshift "wedding rings" in the game without having an official in-game wedding. You and your sweetie both do the quest, sign the rings, give them to each other, and voila! "Wedding rings," each with the other person's character name on it.
Silly, yes. But I love it.
If you do the quest twice, once as the person presenting Trion with a li'l lady, and once as the person (a female character) who IS the li'l lady being presented to Trion, you'll have both a Pollux's Ring and a Castor's Ring to sign.
And if you don't have a sweetie but are the romantic type, you could just get a ring to sign and give to someone that you'd LIKE to be your sweetie. Some people would find that a bit stalker-ish, but others would find it cute, I'm sure.
I can clear some of this up. -You need pretty high fame to do the "Fit for a prince quest" you can be male or female, you are then sent to find a certain Female for the prince. When you return with the correct female in your party you get a cutscene and the CASTOR RING.
-You need NO fame or Levels to be the FEMALE that the one who undertakes the quest needs to show the prince. You party with the one who has the quest and then get a cutscene and the PULLOXS (sp?) RING. {I was this female and got this ring}
-As far as I have heard from my other LS mates they have never been asked to find a MALE for the prince. So if you are a male, you may not be able to get the PULLOXS RING.
-IF AND ONLY IF you have high crafting level you can purchase HQ crystals from your guild (i.e. a cyclone crystal). When you use the crystal on the ring it removes the Ra/Ex status and signs your name (like always when you use a HQ crystal).
-In my opinon these rings are ment to be a sign of true frindship. The cutscene has nothing to do with a wedding. Wedding rings are ordered when yoour sponsor fills out an application for your wedding (there are two types initaled and named).
-I have never worn the ring much so I am unaware if it has any special effects.
-My plan is to raise Sandy fame enough to get the other ring and see if pairing them does anything.
Just for fun, and if perhaps there is some obscure reference in the game that might be put to light by my telling, the story of Castor and Pollux is thus:
They were twins born at the same time from different unions. Of Leda, Castor was concieved by Tyndareus (king of Sparta), and Pollux by Zeus, whom visited Leda in the form of a swan on her wedding night. What a pimp.
Pollux was invulnerable and, incidentally, brother (through Leda/Zeus synthesis using a fire crystal) to Helen of Sparta/Troy.
Castor was killed during a cattle raid, and Pollux was driven to great sadness over the loss of his brother, seeking to follow him to Hades. Zeus, in turn, had sympathy for them and brought both to share Hades and Olympus on alternating times/days, as the story goes.
As stated before, they can both be seen in the night sky as the two most visible of the bright stars in the constellation Gemini, (loosely translated, brothers, or twins).
Also, another variation of the story is that, instead of one being immortal and the other being mortal, Pollux was said to have loved his brother so much that he shared his immortality between them.
Really great post, it's very nice to see someone who knows a little about mythology. The only thing I'm not sure was correct was their birth fathers.
If I recall correctly, which may not be the case, they we're both Zeus' sons. They are often refered to as "twins", whcih makes me wonder. I'll look it up to verify.
And also an interesting note is Pollux and Castor are both brothers to Helen of Troy, perhaps a more famous legend.

This ring is the exact same as the Castor's. The way you get it is by being the female that Halver is looking for. If you are that female, you will get this ring from Halver.
Same thing as with Castor's ring. Wind crystal + Pollux's ring = rare/ex removed You need 0 crafting skills.
Cyclone Crystal + Pollux's ring = rare/ex removed + your name/signature added to the item description.
You don't need a specific craftskill, nor do you even need any craftskills leveled (except to get the cyclone crystal, which is EX) to remove the rare/ex or add your signature.
I'm not positive if it's the same as the Castor's Ring, but I just got a Castor's, and I took a Cyclone Crystal to it (HQ Wind crystal). The synth removed the Rare/Ex, and the ring is now signed by me (because it was a HQ crystal). I'm going to have my bride-to-be in-game do the quest and craft it as well, and we can use these as make-shift wedding rings until we are actually able to get a date for our wedding.
Okay, I'm irritated. Shortly after this quest was added, I was "pimped" by an LS-mate of mine (my character is a female Tarutaru.) At the time I didn't know anything about this quest except that you had to find a specific type of female to present to Trion. We talked to halver, my friend got his cutscene and ring, and I thought that was it. At the time, I was in the middle of Sando Mission 5-1. After I got pimped out, I tried talking to Halver to get the quest for myself. Instead, he just talked about mission 5-1 stuff. Disappointed, I left and finally did 5-1 a month later or so.
Just today, I got the quest and found the right female. As I was watching the cutscene, I told her (She was JP) that I was in the middle of a cutscene so she knew why I wasn't talking, and she responded by saying that she was, too. That confused me... I never got any cutscene when I was being pimped, and then she showed me the Pollux's ring she got afterwards. I never got any ring when I was being pimped. Then I came here and saw the full details about this quest.
I'm sort of angry. Being in the middle of Mission 5-1 not only kept me from GETTING the quest, but it looks like it also screwed me out of the cutscene and reward while I was being pimped! Has anyone else experienced something like this? I want a Pollux's ring... ; ;
Hey! First if you read some previous post, I think all the needed informations are there regarding how to get both rings. (only females character can dream of having both rings) The Castor Ring is granted if you start the quest and bring the right female character for Prince Trion. The Pollux ring is granted only if you are the female the Prince is looking for. (therefore someone else has to have the quest and you must be the specific female the Prince is looking for)
As far as some mix up with other quest and missions, I have experienced some minor problems with quests interfering with others. Exemple: You can't finish the quest "Exit the Gambler" while doing "The Pickpocket" quest since Aurege will tell you he saw someone weird moving toward Nothern Sandy (that's the Picpocket). Even if you speak to him 20 times, his answer will always be the same even if you have done all the "Exit the Gambler" part of the quest and that you are ready to receive your reward. When the "Pickpocket" quest is over, then you speak again to Aurege and he finally gives you the Map of King Ranperre's Tomb. So yes some missions and quests may intefere one with each other and you may have to finish some quests or missions before starting new ones. Just make sure you don't have 15 quests pending + a mission on a go, this might gives trouble...
i just finished doing the female portion of this quest, and got the cut-scene, but when i first talked to halver, he talked about the mission i was on (M 8-2) then i talked to him again, and the cut-scene started, not sure if it is a similar problem, but maybe this might help someone else out.
I'm super curious about this item. My girlfriend has one, and I'm not sure what it is. If it's a wedding ring, I swear, I'll be so mad, because I wasn't the one that gave it to her. Can someone please find out for sure, while I still have my hair?
no, its not a wedding ring. its a useless ring that does absolutely nothing, but if you get a signing crystal you can giv it to a friend or g/f w/o wasting weeks of upping your goldsmithing skill. chec to see if its RARE EX btw, if it is she quested it if not, she still mightve quested it but removed the rare ex part of it
Do you need a particular lvl in any craft to undo the "ex" by synthesising this with a wind crystal or is it a guarenteed synthesis at any lvl. I'd hate to synth it and lose it in the process.
Using a Cyclone Crystal (Guild Wind crystal) with this ring will remove the RARE/EX, and sign your name on the bottom. I then gave it as a gift. ^_^ Picture at: http://www.irev.net/vdlr/pollux.jpg
Castor and Pollux are also the 1st magnitude (bright) stars in the zodical constellation Gemini and were also lovers. Just some information that is most likely totally pointless
maybe you should do a little research before posting something that makes YOU look like an idiot.
by using a wind crystal, you CAN remove the EX status. and if you have a guild contract, you can buy HQ crystals which put names on the items your synth.
and it doesnt matter whether the person youre reffering to crafts, as it seems (from multiple posts on the topic here and on other sites) that crafting level has nothing to do with synthing the EX off of this ring.
I find it hard to believe that this ring can have any practical use other than a reminder of the quest. I mean honestly, how sexist would that be that only females brought as bride offerings to Trion would be able to obtain it? I still have mine, but really... what to do with it? o_O
Castor and Pollux were Greek twins, leading me to believe that some effect is obtained by having both people in the same group and wearing the rings. No proof yet; I've yet to do the quest.
Yeah, a few items still have hidden info, and it's why seminingly useless items got for 10's of millions. Check your services price on Kungfu Shoes, Wulong Shoes, and Dune Boots. Notice the freaky prices? It's cause people have found out that they have a hidden effect. All three of those enhance Kick damage and activation rate. (MNK ability)
I imagine there are more we don't know of yet, but that's the most commonly known one(s).
other examples of hidden stats are the Carbuncles Mitts and the +1 versions of hte elemental staves, which reduce avatar perpetuation cost (easy to verify)
Its from the Sandorian mission Fit For A Prince. You Need To Have Either Certain Fame In Sandoria..or A Certain Rank..Im Honestly Not Sure..Thats Where Its From Tho. The Person I Used In That Quest Recieved This.
The person who completes the quest gets a Castor's Ring. The Female You Bring with you who you need to complete the quest (Yes another adventurer, not an NPC) will recieve a Pullox's Ring.
You get it from Halver For Doing the Fit For a Prince Quest....rather the female you bring to halver for Prince Trion get it..you only get a castors ring.
