Scout's Jerkin

I actually got my hands on a Scout's jerkin last wednesday. It's a decent peice for certain applications; in your TP build setup, used with AF hat and Rapid Shot merits you will notice a decrease in shot animation time and slightly faster TP.

For WS, AF body, Archer's Jupon, Blue Cotehardie (+1) or Osode are all superior, depending on which you have access to. Scout's is still a decent peice though and it does carry a certain RNG status with it.

Dropped from Kindred Dark Knight as well, honestly all of the Demon in Dynamis-Xarcabard can drop the body,
as well as Dynamis Lord, this goes for all Relic armors.
The Notorious Monsters do however only drop Relic armors from their respective jobs.

if you ask me, kirins osode seems so much better. so what if you dont get that -2 enmity? or +23hp? +10 to every stat is excellent! mix that with sieryus kote(sorry butchered the spelling) and you have an unstoppable ranger!
This is hot

This is sooo cool. I love to go fight and show off infront of the other 60- RNG's also it can come in handy the HP saved me once while in a NM fight i had atleast 12 hp left and the rapid shot works... sorta i don't really check it this is a great piece of material you should get it tooooooo if you don't have it...
Status only..

I received this in Dyna-Xarc last night..such a cute little piece. It's certainly not better than Kirin's Osode, and with this latest update the -2 Enmity is a joke...but it does look nice when standing around in town.

I have capped Rapid Shot rate from merits, so another +5 doubles that bonus..but I can see wearing the Osode a lot more often in combat still.
Stick with Osode

I'm still an up and coming RNG on my server (Quet) but I think I would stick with Kirin's Osode as I think that the +10 to everything would be a little more beneficial than what this has to offer. For instance AGI = Ranged Accuracy, VIT = a little defence for when slug shot/heavy shot/whatever you wanna do does over 1000 damage and the mob seems to want a piece of you. STR = melee damage and if what joesaiditstrue says that it helps Ranged Attacks to cut through mobs DEF, then there's that, and lastly MND = enhances Holy Bolt damage. Rappid Shot +5 I think is REALLY sweet, but I'm not convinced that that alone is better than all of this, and a couple things that my brain just isn't considdering atm. At any rate, good luck getting either. hehe

It's not that it's better than Osode it's that this armor is a bigger status symbol for all Rangers and it's harder to obtain. A good group of 30 70+ players should be able to take Kirin down but you need atleast 40 70+ players to beat the 4 city dynamis and 50 70+ to beat Beaucidine. Then after that you need enough players to go to Xarcabard and farm Demons and Eyes to get this drop. It does not drop off of Dynamis Lord like this site shows. The drop is just like any other dynamis where the AF piece can drop at anytime off any mob.

Lets face it everyone on FFXI knows what the AF1 Hunter Jerkin looks like by now. You can see that bright yellow with Green trim Ranger coming from a mile away. When someone sees that same armor running by only it's not Green and Yellow it's Blue and Light blue they will do a double take and know a badass Ranger just passed them.

My dynamis ls can easily do dyna-lastok and dyna-sandy with 20-25 people we never need 40 people for a city. 40 people can do a northlands dynamis with little trouble.

Amen brotha. I'm a 65 RNG right now and I'm just oozing for this guy. Unfortunately, this will probably be one of the last items I get before I retire, just because of the difficulty and organziation required.

your friend,

is this hard to get
# Apr 06 2005 at 3:30 PM Rating: Decent
how hard is the scout set to get im currently 37 does it drop often, and how many people will take toget the item im in a static with rng, drg, pld, whm, rdm, blm
RE: is this hard to get

if this really only drops off dynamis lord, your gonna need 64 lv75 players who have beaten all other dynamis areas to get it. dynamis lord is the hardest mob in the game, vrtra may be more of a chalange, but if 64 people could attack it at once it would probally go down more easily then DL.
good thing its not that great of an item, cause its gotts be really rare if it really drops from DL.

it doesnt drop off of dynamis lord. its drops off the regular mobs in dynamis-xarcabard.

even so, to go there and win with time left over to farm for af2 drops would be quite difficult. if dynamis lord kills everyone when you fight him with an hour + time left your prob not gonna get one of these, lol
Best RNG body ever.

I want this item! I'm a Lv75(Hume Bastok)Ranger and I'd say this piece is better than the Hunter's Jerkin. Trust me, I experimented in a exp party against Very Tough Decorative Weapons. I didn't use ANY +racc gear, and was STILL incredibly accurate. Just keep your acc rings, knives, Gorget etc. The only item that rivals this is the Osode. I'm trying to max out my Rapid shot rate. I spend my merit points on Rapid shot upgrades.
rapid shot +5 = butt secks <3

scout's jerkin is FAR better than hunter's jerkin, plain and simple. however, there is much heated debate over which is better: scout's jerkin or kirin's osode. here's what i would do:

stick with osode UNTIL i get jerkin, then use jerkin for shooting, and the osode for slug shot and other weapon skills only (slug shot damage is calculated almost entirely from AGI).

(slug shot damage is calculated almost entirely from AGI).

most of the damage comes from Weapon Damage Rating, Ammo Damage Rating, Ranged Attack+ Gear/Abilities, and your skill in marksmanship. AGI attributes to 30% of the entire formula if memory serves correctly.

AGI in itself will not raise your Slugshot damage noticably on VT-IT mobs, or HNMs/Gods. You will see more of an increase with Ranged Attack & STR Gear/Food (Even though STR isn't a part of the Slugshot Damage Formula, it DOES convert into Ranged Attack%, as well as pushes through any mobs VIT)

It looks to me like the Shikaree Aketon is better than the rng af and relic body piece

im a 73 elvaan ranger on Fenrir and truthfully i do see changes in R.acc. Maybe its because im elvaan, maybe its because i think im legally retarded...but when i equip things like Optical Hat, Trailers Kukri, instead of others, i notice a difference. Escpecially if u try different subs out like Samurai or thief (which i dont recommend in exp pt~w). Anyways, just my opinion. <3
# Jan 19 2005 at 12:24 PM Rating: Excellent
I think by level 75 ranger your natural ranged accuracy is very good. This is what I hear from a few level 70+ rangers. So the 10 ranged accuracy that will be lost from switching from the Hunters Jerkin to the Scout’s Jerkin will not affect your ranged accuracy all that much. I hear from high-level rangers a lot that even items such as Optical Hat help, but are not vital at such high levels. Also the +5 to “rapid shot” alone is SICK!! for those who truly know what rapid shot does.

Like everyone, this is just my opinion on this subject. Level 75 is so distant it seems not to even matter.

the +10 R.Acc on the first AF body is too good to change to this one =)
(this is just my opinion, being a Galka Ranger an all :P need all the Ranged Accuracy i can afford :P)
