Rate up if you can, people rated me down cause i said i got a NM drop. if you dont believe me, check a NM page where someone didnt get rated down for it >.>

wow so many posts about bullsh!t, i just want info on the dam sword. I'm currently a 56drk who use's both Gswd an scythe for better SC successes.
However if i ever do get to 75 with my drk, i cant decide which to get the relic swd or the relic scythe, both seems alittle outrageous. I am however a 75brd an i noticed that drk dont use scythe in exp parties post 69 or so. i guess cause scythe cant make light SC. I like scythe better but what good does that do me if i dont get to use it. someone who has one or the other please post something useful.

p.s. i dont update my signature often so excuse my autograph ;/

think about it, ragnarok online? and about 90 other companys have copyrighted those names
RE: think
# Jul 24 2005 at 10:56 PM Rating: Decent
not true. although "Ragnarok Online" is a trademark. not Ragnarok itself. nor Ragnarök. the correct spelling.
The difference
# Jan 26 2005 at 4:39 AM Rating: Default
The reason SE doesnt use the EXACT spelling of those is because of copyrights. For example... You open a fast food joint called MCDonalds and you will be sued. Open a fast food joint named McDanalds and its all good baby.
RE: The difference
# Jul 17 2005 at 6:58 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, the origional spelling of Ragnrock ( the norway way anyway ) is Ragnarok... Therefore, they are just being correct aobut it haha.

im not a good speller by nature, but I can garuntee that Ragnarok is the way you spell it, it is the day of armageddon in norse mythology <3

Ragnarok - Humor?
# Dec 19 2004 at 4:47 PM Rating: Decent
I just think it would be funny as hell if Square-Enix made the Ragnarok race-specific to Tartutarus, and kept it a huge secret. Like, ten-million Hume and Elvaan Dark Knights would crap all over themselves in protest upon reaching level 75.

...not to mention the rioting.

( I know this would never happen, that's why it's a joke- kind of. Some people... yeesh. )

Beeing an actual Norwegian, i must say it funny to see people telling about the meaning of Ragnarok. And btw why do the ff people call the wolf fenrir when it's name is really fenris?

I would guess it's just meant to be a reference. For example, in Final Fantasy VII, the name of the giant city where a lot of the early action took place was "Midgar" rather than the proper "Midgard" (kinda funny in that the difference is only a single letter here, too).
RE: Norse mythology
# Apr 29 2005 at 4:44 PM Rating: Default
Oh like so you say it's Midgard? that's kinda wrong...

Midgard-Midgård
Ragnarok-Ragnarök
Odin-Oden
Fenrir-Fenris

and so on, and so on.... Swedes and Norwegians know best ;) me being the Swede :P lol!

Some of that is swedish names going through Japanese transliteration and then into English...Japanese doesn't have a l or v traditionally and doesn't deal well with several consonants in a row because of the way the characters are pronounced. Plus then the English translation just screwed it up further...

Although to be fair, everyone messes up Woden-Odin. Sad. But true.
RE: Norse mythology
# Nov 26 2005 at 8:59 AM Rating: Decent
Actually the Japanese alphabet does have L-ish sounds, its R-ish sounds that are lacking (although the actual pronunciation is somewhere between). so my *guess* at a translation of ragnarok would be something like..
La-gu-no-lo-ku...
you are right about the V sounds, usually a B-ish sound is used in place of a V. ^^
RE: Norse mythology

Isn't it actually Woden instead of Oden? As someone that likes looking at the historical sources related to modern words, I know that Odin was Woden in Norse Mythology, and that is where we get the name of the day Wednesday. (It was originally known as Woden's Day.)
RE: Norse mythology
# Aug 13 2005 at 6:29 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, I beleive Od(i/e)n abd Woden were differenet incarnates of the same god; Woden primarily as a battle-god, where Oden was primarily for sorcery and ruling over the gods. This is analgous to the Hindu incarnations of Vishnu.
RE: Norse mythology
# Jul 18 2005 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
His name is NOT Woden XD lmao! it's Oden. our wedensday is named after him: Onsdag < which before was called Odensdag, which means: Oden's day.
I know, I'm pretty good at my own mythology. to bad the å , ä and ö letters didn't work on allakhazam :P but:
Midgard < a ring above the "a" and the name is correct.
Ragnarok < two dots above the "o" and it's correct.

and so on :P lol.. hope my info was enlightening to someone. Always glad to share wisdom ^,^ (in the very limited areas where I actually KNOW all of something :P lol...) after over 10 years of studying my own mythology in school, I know pretty much all of it <,<

quick info for ppls who wanna know:

Midgård - The name of our planet, Earth.
Midgårdsormen - Oden's kid. A huge sea-serpent who has swallowed his own tail. (he was stretching around the whole world til' he reached his tail)
Oden - Well.. you all know him, dude with the Horse with 8 legs (yes 8, not 6 as in FF... that's wrong) and 2 ravens with him.
Fenris - Oden's kid. A wolf, who participated in Ragnarök among other things. Including being tied down with a light thread (just by apperance, it was the strongest thread in the world) and bit Tyr's hand off.
Hel - Oden's daughter. Lives in Hell :P guess where that name came from ey? It's extremely cold in Hell, and the reason that is, is because in the Nordic countries, heat was something possitive. The cold was dangerous and feared.
Ragnarök - The doom of all gods.
Thor - God of thunder. Has the hammer: Mjölner which he kills Giants with.

I know there are alot more names to cover... but I havn't got the energy :P

As of Oden being called Woden... sure.. Seeing as Americas immigrants included ALOT of swedes and norwegians, then altered alot of the names, took alot of our mythology and language with them... sure.. you probably called him Woden. but it's not his real name. it's Oden.

Any questions and I'll be glad to answer them ^.^

EDIT: Ignore the parts about å,ä and ö not working.. they seem to be now..

Most sites with the WS videos are hacked, so to speak. The graphic is the same, but to make it look like an actual player is using it, they're hacked onto weak WSes. To put it simply, that was Hard Slash with the graphic of Scourge.

Also, that sword didn't look like Ragnarok.

I know the third form (I forget the name . . . Valhalla?) can do Scourge as well, but I don't know what it looks like. However, it can only do it in Dynamis, unless I'm mistaken. And that didn't look like a Dynamis mob to me (never having been there myself). -_-

Relic weapons: Ragnarok is top row, third from left.

So.. how would you rate this against Apocalypse for a DRK?

At lvl 75 the disparity between Great Sword and Scythe for DRK is 7 lvls, Scythe: 276 and Great Sword: 269. May not seem like alot, but most lvl 75 DRK's would probably go with the Apocalypse over the Ragnarok unless they needed to open/close some lvl 3 light Renkeis.

Not to mention, relic weapons have an hidden effect of Occasionally does 3x Damage, so you'd be able to do a SATA Spinning Slash for around 3k. Assuming of course that Scourge isn't better, which I doubt. Relic WS are pretty bleh, their main use is to continue a Lv. 3 SC (For example, someone in your group makes a Light SC, you use Scourge and make another Light SC.).

lmao, Nope, sorry, wrong, Fenrir ate ODIN, but not his army (the Valhalla). Odin's son killed Fenrir right afterwards by stepping on the lower part of his jam and ripping his head off (kinda).

And I think Ragnarok just means "Final Battle" because life continued after the so called "end of the world".

Valhalla was the hall of the Aesir. Odin's army was comprised of Einjeriar, or the souls of great warriors who had been vanquished in battle and were chosen by the Valkyrie to aide him in Ragnarok. Ragnarok itself means "Twilight of the Gods."
