I'm an actual owner of this weapon. I figured I'd post some of the information I've come across while wielding it.

I have had this weapon for almost a year now. Many people underestimate it due comparing with other relic weapons. Yeah, it may not be the best statwise compared to things like Apocalypse, but it does have its own strengths that people seem to overlook. Acc+20 on a GS will open up possibilities to use attack elsewhere. And you can't go wrong with a 10% Critical hit rate increase from the weapon itself.

Scourge itself is a weak WS in terms of damage, considering it is modded by MND and CHR, but it gives the aftermath of critical hit rate increase (which is parsed to be 10%). 10% Crit rate from Aftermath on top of a 10% crit rate on the weapon itself sounds like a win to me. A good side to using Scourge is that you can now close/open both sides of Light with one weapon, (assuming of course that you're skillchaining.) Spinning Slash is Fragmentation based, while Scourge is Fusion based.

A downside to Ragnarok is not being able to do a 6-hit build, however, it will not matter. You'll be swinging fast enough where it won't make a difference.

From Valhalla to Ragnarok

To add to my previous message, the final Upgrade from Valhalla to Ragnarok requires a few things. First you will need the currency, which is 100 Montiount (spelling?) Silverpieces. Which is traded into the NPC goblin in Davoi for an R.Goldpiece. Not sure what the R stands for honestly. Next you will need a rare/ex drop called a fragment, in this case an Itricate Fragment which drops off of a retardedly hard mob in Dynamis-Xarcabard called Animated Claymore. What makes this incredibly hard is the fact that you must defeat all 15 of the Demon Notorius Monsters in Dynamis-Xarcabard before fighting the Animated Claymore or the fragment will not drop. Thankfully though if you have defeated all 15, it is a 100% drop rate. In any case in addition to the fragment, you will also need a shard of necropsyche, which drop from the Vanguard Dragons in Dynamis-Xarcabard. Once you have all these items, you will have to go to Switchstix again, the goblin in Castle Zvahl-Baileys and you'll get a cut scene in which your weapon speaks to you. After that you have to go to correct position in Beacedine glacier trade all your items and you will receive Ragnarok.

False sense of being close
# Feb 06 2008 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
Well, for a little while I was thinking "man, I'm getting pretty close to this" because I'm very close to obtaining Valhalla (60/61 100 byne bills) although I still need the Attestation of Righteousness. XD but then after giving it some thought, I realized that I'm not close at all because the last upgrade takes more currency the the first 3 combined. I guess it's going to be quite some time if I manage to get this one.
Whooo.

From what I was told by a friend who has it, after using the WS, every hit afterwards becomes a critical hit for a certain amount of time, around the area of 100% TP = 10 secs critical, 200% TP = 20 secs, 300% TP = 30 secs.

He could be bsing but that's what he noticed.

Norse Debates
# Oct 12 2006 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
Not related to the weapon at all, but for those who don't know, the 'Ragnarok' was effectively when the Gods went to war with a whole heap of other people; the main person responsible for the Ragnarok itself is Surt, the Fire Giant, who pretty much blew the hell out of the world and the flames caused it to re-grow.

The theory of Ragnarok is basically that almost all the Gods die with only a few left, society is reset, the Earth begins anew.

I know the Aesir and Vanir Gods also had a War, although I'm not sure whether that caused Ragnarok also. My knowledge of Norse Myth isn't perfect.

That and I've heard quite a few sources saying that Ragnarok was the actual way the Gods died. Although I'm positive this has no connection with traditional Norse myth, it may be from somewhere else. A lot of mythology doubles-up on ideas. Vikings are known to have been heavy believers in Norse Myth, so they may have had a different take on Ragnarok.

I don't know about the others, but I just know a fair bit about Norse because I find it extremely fascinating.

As for the sword? Damn that's cool. I like the way the Relic Weapons have special WS's. A nice touch to give them a bit more uniqueness than just a really heavy hitter.

You might say it's not original (Other MMOs often have procs) but they don't usually give an out-right skill, and if they do, it's usually a cheap, recycled animation.

And I wonder what Scourge looks like...
QUESTION!!! =D
# Jul 17 2006 at 11:57 PM Rating: Decent
since Ragnarok and a few other GS's are different when equipped (since the handle thingamabob comes from the left instead of the right) whats it look like when they pull it out? and... becuz its different like that, does the fighting stance for it look different for it? i know different races hav different fighting positions but does Ragnarok change it?

There's one person on Titan who has this, Yuta. Then again, Yuta has more money then god (Lavish), and sells Plastrons and Black cuisses like they're the most common thing to make.

I couldn't make 500 million gil if I was playing this game for 25 YEARS. Guess I'll never have it.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 27 2006 at 1:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) When i first started as a warrrior i didnt know any better so I chose Great Sword as my main weapon. I'm actually surprised now that i used a great sword for that long.... I was well into low 50's before i switched to dual wield axe. Anyhow, this weapon looks cool. wouldn't it be awesome for the Ragnorok to have the WS Omni-Slash? I think a omni-slash would own anything in barrista.
cost, maybe
# Apr 04 2006 at 9:54 PM Rating: Default
all of the currency will cost about 543million if they are 30k each if they are 50k each it will cost about 900million for all currency
-remeber this is only est. price for currency
for full upgrade

Critical Hits
# Jan 03 2006 at 10:48 PM Rating: Default
In my opinion, this sword would be way better than the Relic Scythe. The weapon skill is confirmed to give increased Critical Hits. So, this thing would be hitting faster than the Scythe and doing more Crits. This would translate into more damage over time for any Dark Knight who relies heavily on +STR gear, which should be all of you! Critical Hit does more damage when you have higher STR vs. the mob's VIT, so this thing would do some very severe damage. But basically any Relic Weapon would. But for the Scythe vs. the Great Sword, I'd have to go with this Great Sword. If I had the choice... which I wouldn't. lol
RE: Critical Hits
# Jan 21 2006 at 12:12 PM Rating: Decent
True in some cases. This has lower delay.
But the scythe can drain HP and can do 3x multiplying WSs (or so said)
If i had a choice, Scythe for me...

The 3x multiplying WSs aren't based on the WSs. It's a random (and very rare) trigger on any normal attack. It's said to activate once per 10-15min in an exp pt.

Each fully upgraded relic weapon gives the user one final WS. In this case the name of the GS weapon skill is "Scourge"
Hmmm.

Actually ppl posting the origin should broaden the horizon of ppl a bit. And to be honest, i like that display of knowledge and the will to share it alot more, then ppl's random ******** about stuff they don't know (like u did) or the random "drool, must have" comments that fill most threads.

Thank you

Wikipedia has not yet lied once to me about anything in the world and beyond. The article has everything from corrrect spellings to what all the nonsense is about. Read it, nod in approval, and go back to commenting about the ACTUAL FFXI ITEM. Thank you.

You all seriously need to stop talking and do some research before you start running your mouth like you know what your talking about.

Wanna know about Norse Mythology and where Fenrir and the others came from. Here I posted some links to a few sights. Since your posting on this website you obviously have access to the internet. Use it to make sure your right before talking. Theres a great deal on inforation to be found on just about anything you want to know. Sure some of it is incorrect but thats why you check with a reliable site or multiple sites. If 4 or 5 of them say the same thing more then likely thats how it is.

If you had payed attention to my post you wouldve understood why. Besides I never said they were as you cant completely rely on informaion found on the net. Which I'm sure if you had actually thought about what I typed in my post you wouldve realized I already said you cant rely on alot of internet websites and that wouldve answered your question... But in responce to your lack of thought I'll say this they are 4 different websites that say basically the same thing one is a .edu which means an educational website and all were found using yahoo search.

got to say i like the one at the top because i like wikipedias stuff in the first place. I was just saying that because how rude you were being. That ut of the way back to the sword it self. +20 acc and not bad delay with 86 dmg makes it a hell of a sword. Looks cool too. If anyone has videos of people using the relic weopon WS we would be grateful if u posted them.

STR+5 MND+2 INT-5

or

STR+5 MND-5 INT+2

1st one makes more sense to me b/c of the elements of the stats.

The presence of fire should wreck INT but not hurt MND so much. But meh, you could just look at Jeuno AH.
