I just bought a Gem Cuirass tonight! Awesome piece. cost a pretty penny, but well owrth it imo. +2 def and +5 vit over af2 body. Both have +4 emnity, only thing it lacks is the HP. As a galka it's really no big difference to me tho. Just gunna focus in on capin out my hp merits now. Still have 1710hp w/ no food and noly lv2 hp merits.

In the future, respond tho the post itself, not the thread, it bumps everyone down and pushes posts that are actually USEFUL farther down, kepping some of them unseen.

i have a RDM on Remora , so I tend to sit in Jeuno a lot just looting around . I've come across quite a few PLD's that have this equipped . Only seen one +1 tho . On Remora the Cuirass isn't that rare tho =/

I got lucky and bought the gem body and the gem hands off of AH on carbuncle of 6.5 mil. -_-;;. BUt it is well worth it when I can wear them in another 3 levels, can't wait :)

I have heard that Smithing 100/Goldsmithing 60 is required for this synth. Would you chances of HQ'ing it increase if you had say Smithing 100/Goldsmithing 100?? Maybe
Yeah you can only take one craft to 100 and all the rest you can take to 60 you can merit past 60 but its a waste of points really
Far as I know, you can only take 1 craft past 60.

You can take all your crafts past 60 but you only get a total of 40 crafting skill levels to distribute past 60. Say you have EVERY craft at 60, you could then take one to 100 and that's it OR one to 90 another to 70 OR four of them to 70 OR two to 80 etc. Once you have "spent" the extra 40 skill levels, if you choose to go back and raise something else above 60 one of your others that's ABOVE 60 will randomly be downgraded.

This is EXTREMELY rare due to the fact that the most smithing you can get is 104 (with the items and the image support). Making a HQ a level above the cap is a matter of pure luck, so consider yourself fortunate if you ever see one of these.
The HQ rate for something 40 levels below you is about 25%, so you have less than 1% of a chance to get this.

Let me share my recent experience with a shell ring +1.
My stats at the time:
Bonecraft level 4
iceday ~ 20:00
Advanced imagery
Waning gibbous (76%)
You'll notice that I was not one level above the cap, but three under the cap. Also, Waning Gibbous and iceday aren't the best times for HQing with wind crystals at all. I made a shell ring out of a single stack of seashells and scales.
Now, imagine that this was on a new moon and on watersday, which is a time I'd be synthing if I wanted to HQ these and not waste money. The rate would be much, much greater than 1%. Probably closer to 15%.
The only ting that makes the gem items rare is that they're so expensive to make, but HQing one level over cap is very do-able.

OMG a dude on Valefor server offered me one of these in exchange for a THF Knife .... i have to kill that tonberrie....but it's the only Gem Cuirass i have ever seen... and he has showed it to me...I have a chance ( I hope)

glasses ?? smithing glasses ? neveer saw them ><
I was just wondering if anyone has yet to see a Pld wearing one of these. I have seen at least 10 Paladins with close to full sets of Adaman, but I have never even seen one of these sold on the AH or worn by anyone.
