Like you, I searched HIGH & LOW for this damned item; it was never in the AH.

But with the blessed Aht Urhgan expansion the long search is over. I now have 4 stacks of 99 to level my ninja with. This is now sold by a merchant in Aht Urhgan Whitegate!! woo-hoo

I went through a stack of 99 xping; about 4 hrs worth so they are definitely worth it. The effect took place often enough. And don't go thinking you can get **** loads of these and sell them at the AH for a profit!

1: That ain't right ya'll; share the love.
2: I already tried it and found that the merchant only seems to have 2 stacks of 99 per day o_O!

They are always empty because it is always a loss. Beeswax and Wind Clusters, they aren't really worth what goes into them.
Nothing!

There is absolutely noting for sale in Sandy AH, tired looking for stuff for my SMN but the AH is always empty!

I wonder if it is worth for a NIN who can use shurikens. I guess shurikens do much more dammage than en-powered katanas with these. And you can't change your equipment every 3 secs to couple shurikens/fans, you'll waste your time...
So, this would only be used for lvl 12>18 when you can't use shurikens yet. But then, you won't cap your throwing skill for lvl 18 ... ; ;
Cost?
# Oct 27 2004 at 8:17 AM Rating: Decent
I should like to say that for a mere additional wind effect, at 12k a stack (Bastok AH, Garuda) this seems a little pricey...especially when compounded with all the other Nin costs. 'Course I'm just a po' lil ninja....
RE: Cost?

These are VERY worth the cost to get. I'm only a lv 13 NIN doing around 25-30 dmg for each weapon on EP mobs with 2 Kyofu katanas equipped. With these, every once in a while (10-15 hits more or less) the fan kicks in and adds 30-50 dmg, like a BLM nuke.

I knew a NIN with katanas with these around 60. When the fans kicked in, they did more damage than both his hits combined. He probably had the kilo fan on, but I never bothered to ask him. The fans only kicked in like once every few mins, so a stack does last a good while, and the damage is actually worth it.

10k-99 on Quetzalcoatl

I used these til lvl 26...A stack of 99 will last a while as the additional effect is randomly used. These are great when used in conjunction with Shuriken for dealing great damage.

Good to hear the yield is 66, that's an expensive recipe for a 33 yield.

Whenever the wind damage activates, one fan is used up, there are higher fans, but I don't the recipes off hand...though I could research it a bit if you would like.

actually, the yeild is 66. Works with some greatswords and katanas. There are 2 higher versions, kilo and mega fans.
It works

I partied in Altepa with a Japanese high rank Ninja that had this. I'm not sure if the fan goes away, but he definitely never ran out.

Ahhh... so in that case, I s'pose that these can also be used with even higher-LV katanas than the "Kyofu." I'm only LV12 NIN, so I haven't done much in the way of sword-shopping past LV18 or so.

The "Wind Fan," so far as I'm aware, may be used in conjunction with the LV13 Katana "Kyofu." According to the description of the "Kyofu," the sword will deal additional Wind damage if you attack with it while you also have a "Wind Fan" equipped under your Ranged/Ammo slot.

I don't know, however, if 1 "Wind Fan" is completely used up (lost) when you successfully deal wind damage...

yes, they are used like Batteries... they give "Added effect: Wind dammage" basically when used with appropriate weaponry
What is it?
# Aug 06 2004 at 1:48 PM Rating: Decent
What are these things used for, and why are they listed as Ammo? Do they work in conjunction with another weapon?
