i was on 3-1 and traing thank you and traded a rolanberry and got a cutscene with kupipi saying thank u and stuff, and then she said to stop by sometime and she'll give me a reward maybe.
I did 5-2, then the Zilart missions to ZM4. Went to a guard and got 3-2, I had already traded the rolanberry, completed the mission, then talked to Kupipi right after and got the Portal Charm. You can do this anytime and still get the Portal Charm.
I'm a little stuck for getting this item.
I'm currently rank 6 Windurst, with mission 6-1 active.
My Key Items don't show a Portal Charm.
My Mission Log shows "Written in the Stars" as being complete.
I traded a Rolanberry to Kupipi. She did a little dance and thanked me. That was it.
Still no Portal Charm.
Any ideas?

Yea, if you get past rank 3-2 and keep ranking up, you wont get the Portal Charm as normaly from Kupipi.
I was Rank10 and decided i wanted Fenrir. So i decided to get the Portal Charm as well to open the silly "3mage gate". I took Kupipi a Rolanberry as perscribed by Tayaya. After getting jipped and not getting the Portal Charm, I found out that you have to do "Written in the Stars" again. This is going to the Gate Guard, activating the mission "Written in the Stars" and then obtaining 3 Rusty Daggers from the AH or Wendigos in the ruins. Then u go to Zubaba for a CS (berating you about ur tardiness) where she asks you to get her 3 daggers. Trade her the 3 daggers after the CS to finish the mission. then head down and talk to Kupipi who will gladly fork over the Portal Charm.
So yea i wasted alota time getting frustrated cuz no one knew about having to redo the mission to get the charm if you havent done it when "Written in the Stars" became available.
On a side note if you guys are ever on WM3-2 or w/e. Dont skip it or let ur friends skip it. it will be a waste of time to redo the mision to get a portal charm down the road. Save yourself and your friends some frustration and have them to the mission concerning the 3 daggers and have them trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi after talking to Tayaya.

I was trying to accept mission 5-2 (Windurst), but accidentally accepted this one instead. I have never been through the Sealed Portal before, and have max windy fame. Some time ago (before I was on this mission) Kupipi took my Rolanberry.
I was pretty pissed off I accepted the wrong mission, but I had to finish it quickly so I could get to a party that night. I had one whm willing to come with me but I went into the ruins as my rdm to scope out the run first. At 39 all the monsters were Too Weak on the run there. I suspect they're about the same level as those in Jugner Forest. I got to the gate, stood on the red circle until it lit up, killed a few monsters, and left.
I went back to Windy and checked the AH for Rusty Daggers. There were 3 up, and so I bought them for 1.2k each. I went to Heaven's Tower and traded in my Rusty Daggers to the mission lady. She accepted them. I walked downstairs and talked to Kupipi, she gave me my charm. I still haven't been past the gate.
I suspect only the people who have already passed this mission are asked for daggers, as the mission giver gave me some "trouble" for being late. People doing this at the right time might actually have to pass the portal.
Things of Note:
Never passed the Portal.
Gave Kupipi the Rolanberry long before Mission started.
I was rank 5 when I did this.
Everything worked out fine.
Btw. The ruin you want in the NE one (about half way up the map on the right) in East Sarutabaruta.

You get this from Written in the Stars?? I doubt it. Why? I've never skipped a single mission I did n't get this item. Here's what I did. I am rank 6. I walked into Heaven's Tower, walked right up to Kupipi and gave her a Rolenberry. She was quite pleased and immediately gave me the Portal Charm. No waiting, no zoning, no nothing. It was all one continous cut-scene. That's it.

Charm of Light is given during Windurst missions to open Gate of Light and see a Cuscene involving a talisman that locks down Castle Zvahl...
Earthen Charm is given after blm af3, and when you open the Gate of Earth. is a cut scene showing a sprouting star tree...

If you skip the Written in the Stars mission, raise your rank, and later come back to do WitS, you only have to do the mission repeat conditions, which are turn in 3 rusty daggers from Wendigos in the ruins. Now, if you instead buy these from the AH and turn them in, it still counts as completing the mission, allowing you to get the Charm. So, technically, you might not ever have to open the door with 3 mages. Unless opening the door once IS a prerequisite. Worth checking out if you're interested I suppose.
Still, it seems pretty clear that you HAVE to be Windurstian and you HAVE to have cleared this mission in some way in order to get it.

Does anybody know what the Key or Key Item is called to gain Access though the Toraimarai Cannel though Windy not inner ruins. Thank you

The key item to enter from Windhurst Wall is the Rhinoster Certificate, which is obtained by activating the Toramori Turmoil quest in Windhurst Waters. There is a fame requirement and u must have completed Blue Ribbon Blues in order to activate Toramori Turmoil.

an "Old Ring" i believe... found by dropping down the trap door on the first level instead of going up. if you target a blank target that looks like an elevator, i think it may go further down, i'm not sure, i warped out.
Well I finaly found a guin.... friend who was willing to try (Thanks Sarannah). I can confirm that a low fame (in windy) rank 4 sandorian can't get the portal cham. It may be limited to windurstians.

You also get this after completing Black mage AF3 I believe.
I have this; all you have to do is have been through the gate once yourself (whether through getting three mages to open it for you or having someone who already has this item open it for you), then give a Rolanberry to Kupipi. I can confirm that you do NOT need to complete the mission to be able to do this; you only have to have been through the gate once. I let my fiancé in the gate with this item, and he had never done this mission, yet he was able to get the item after that. Also, you can give Kupipi the Rolanberry before having gone in, then talk to her again once you've been through, and she'll give you the item then (this is what I did).
I've been to Toraimarai a bajillion times, I have the rhinostery certificate, and I have max fame in windurst.
Kupipi won't take my rolanberry.

Although I beleive that your friend was able to obtain the portal charm, I do not think the way you described it is indeed the way to get it. You maybe leaving some information out or forgetting something because from my own experience, and I brought a friend along to try as well, this did not and does not work.
I am currently on the "Written in the Stars" mission but I have been beyond the gate to complete the Aspir scroll quest. I inturn gave Kupipi a rolanberry to which she said to return later. I still have not received the portal charm and the only reply I get is pretaining to the mission.
Still wanting to finish the quest, I asked a friend to come and try to get the Portal Charm, he is currently rank 6. She gave him the same reply as me and nothing further.
I will try talking to her some more and return when I have some more info. Please feel free to reply with answers or comments, I want that damn charm...

I'm rank 6 Bastokan, at least 7 windurst fame(thats what it was last I checked), I went in a couple of times previously using a red black and white mage to open the door, I got the aspir scroll that way. She will not take my rolanberry, will update if I manage to get a portal charm or one of those certificates somehow.
Hm, you don't say. I suppose I'm gonna have to round up some test subj ... I mean, friends, to experiment a bit. I was always under the impression that you had to have finished this particular mission.

From what i've been told this is gained from trading a rolanberry to kuipipi, and only doable after you've completed the mission.
