ok... I've seen the question all over the place, "How do you refill these?!". basically it looks like if you want to refill these your gonna have to make them. here's why.... when the tank, (be it potion, ether, or water), is empty you are going to have to "De-Synth" it. this dy-synth works on "Gold Smithing" not alchemy. i wouldn't suggest trying the de-synth until at least lvl 20 gold smithing (round about guess) i tried breaking a potion tank w/ mog hancement de-synth on darks day and failed 6 times losing the tank on the 6th try. so unless you can make these items just forget refills unless you got a gold smithing and alchemy friend/friends. personally i would just throw the empty away unless you have the appropriate skills. sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Got request from guild for this at 71 alchemy. Only got 200 guild point for each turned in /cry. At least I can make everything it for it at my current crafting skills. Brass tank 5/6 at 14 gold smithing. Sheep leather 6/6 at lvl 3 leather. I turned in a couple then just sent some to my friends. 200 points a pop wasnt even worth turning them all in.
cant you....

cant you get the brass tank from um.... i forgot his name but hes near the alchemist guild and its for a quest. the first time i threw away the tank he gave me another. and i dont know if he will give me another now. but doesnt he give brass tanks?
RE: cant you....
# Jun 15 2005 at 2:23 AM Rating: Decent
Thats a different kind of brass tank. The brass tanks for this recipe are crafted or bought at the ah. The one he gives can only be used for that quest.

The notes say
Quote:
Distilled Water comes in stacks of 12.
Does this mean when you use the item to dispense distilled water, the tank goes to 39/40, and you get 12 distilled waters (1 stack) in your inventory? Or do you just get 1 plain distilled water.

You will receive 1 stack of distilled waters each use(12 waters) so you will get 12 distilled waters 40 times with this item, which equals a total of 480 distilled waters. i use them to do cooking craft because i need water alot and i cant buy it at guild so running around to get it can be a hassle so this is more convenient. the only problem is finding the tanks sometimes but i have a friend that can make them. Now 40 stacks of water costs 5760 at 12gil each so if you pay much more to make this it would be for skill up or convenience because they sell for around 10k on my server usually. hope that answers your question.

If you are at the guild, turn around and walk into the restaurant behind you. They sell water there. :)

This is quite interesting, the picture here says waist item, so I first disagreed with Tekki, but right now im looking at a 72 RNG who has it equipped on his back and it does say "back" when I examine him. Not sure whats going on here.

The Tank items were originally Waist items. It was after a recent update that SE changed them to Back items.

This happened because SE did not force an unequip of the item. So when the change occured, there were ppl who left their waist one attached, and then attached a new on on their back. Obviously, once you unequip the one from your waist, you would never be able to re-attach it there.

Recharging
# Dec 11 2004 at 4:10 PM Rating: Default
This item should recharge itself after one hour in real life but you have to keep it equipped...but that is just a theory...trying to make and use one of these to test that theory.

God I love this
...its a leather crafters dream :)

Im on my second one :D

and this item? useless?? you must be kidding me...anything that cuts down me having to run to get more items is useful as hell. You can farm hides and save so much room!

You can sit at the leathercraft guild and not have to keep going to get water from rambroys...I dont know how I crafted before this ;;

and when you finish one the uses are just o/40. Its useless after that- I just sold it to a vendor.

Definitely a very handy item for many crafts. Now just need a 'Windurstian Tea Leaves Tank" and a "Dark Cluster Tank" and we'd be set, LOL.
Recarge?
# Nov 16 2004 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
Dosent this item recharge its self afer you use all the water in it? i think it would be prety useles if you have to keep buying crystals just to recarge it. And if it doesnt recarge itself, maybe you need to use an earth crystal on the tane along with a water cluster, but that's just a therory.
never know

being a cook....you never know when you might need that handy flask of water....distilled at that

It seems some leathercraft is needed to get this. I've tried to synth this twice, Alchemy 19, Leathercraft 0.

1st try: Lightningsday (Earth crystal strong?) 76% Waxing Moon - shattered crystal, lost leather and tank.
2nd try: Lightsday 78% Waxing Moon - shattered crystal, lost leather and water cluster.

I've already spent 2000 gil trying to put this together. Much more and I might as well have just bought 40 stacks of water. :p Conclusion: Have some Leathercraft skill before you do this.

Addendum: After crafting this item I drained all the distilled water and resold to NPCs, I then tried the following synths: Tank + sheep leather + water cluster using earth. No Go. Tank + water cluster using earth. No Go. Tank + water crystal. No Go. I then gave up and attempted to desynth it back into a brass tank: yield = animal glue. No worthwhile results, and items do not simply revert into their previous forms after being depleted.

If I did this again I'd try: Tank + 2 water clusters using both water and earth crystals. And possibly trying distilled water as an ingredient. I hope this helps, and happy synthing!

# Jun 22 2005 at 8:02 AM Rating: Good
My understanding is that animal glue IS used in the original synthesis... only that the original synthesis was a Brass Tank: (goldsmithing-20) earth crystal + Animal Glue + 3xBrass Sheet

I've tried to recharge this item after I made it. Sadly no go, I'm still trying to figure out how to do it myself. if I ever figure it out I will post it. So far what I have tried is

Lightcrystal + empty water tank + water cluster
Lightcrystal + empty water tank

You would think you would use a light crystal to recharge being that it is used to repair

Could we not have gotten a picture of a full one? :P

The tanks will recharge, I am sure of it.
I am halfway through my water tank, so I will post when I know for sure.

2.5-3k (cost of recharge materials once you have brass tank) is very cheap for the water. Cheaper than vendor.
Can refill water in tank?

I have some vey serious doubts about recharging tanks.

The recipes are not that expensive for it to need recharging and the items are expendable, not abilities like the weapons/armor with Enchantments. This one is great for keeping in your mog house and whipping out when you need some distilled water. Forst chance I get I am making one. Better than buying stacks over and over at a shop.

Are the water clusters hard to get. I mean is the water elemental really hard to kill?
RE: clusters.. hard?
# Sep 24 2004 at 9:45 PM Rating: Decent
Wind Elementals are easier than Water for Sub 40 RDM's because Water Elementals don't take damage from Blaze Spikes. If you're depending on your EN-Element spells for damage be sure you know which element the Elemental is weak against! Thunder for Water.

Depends on your level and and the level of the elemental. Water elementals in La Theine are easier than those in Buburimu Peninsula, for instance. Still, I don't recommend elementals as a solo effort until your early to mid 20's level at the minimum.

I killed an Air Elemental in Tahrongi as a level 23 RDM, but I had Enblizzard on my sword, and was casting Cure II on on myself. Silence didn't stick too well on it. :(

Silence is in the Wind elemental group. I don't even bother casting it on them anymore. Once you get access to Baraero, and Stoneskin use them. If you're subbing BLM, I also suggest casting the opposing "Elemental DOT" against elementals when fighting them. In this case, Frost.

The only time I use my Bar-Element spells otherwise is Barfire vs. gobs, Bar(element) if a mob starts casting Ancient Magic (you can get your Bar and Silence up before it casts easily), and Cluster farming. Now that elementals can En-spell themselves, this saves you dispelling them.

I know you're not high enough level yet to use some of these spells, but you will be eventually. Just some pointers.

Best of luck!

Anyone have a recipe or least have an idea of cost. This could be useful but if it cost anything over 4800 its obsolete(sp) in my opinion.

On my server, I got the materials and had a friendly goldsmith in Bastok assemble the brass tank for me. 800 each for the brass sheets, 500 for the animal glue, 50 for the earth crystal. The sheep leather was 1k, and the water cluster was 650 gil. Another 50 for the other earth cluster, and the total was 4650. Could probably be brought down even lower if I had made my own sheep leather.

Here's the stats:
Water tank
[Waist] All Races
Dispense: Distilled Water
Lv 1. All Jobs
<40/40 0:30/[1:00, 0:30]>

NB. Each charge dispenses a stack of distilled water. That's right... 480 distilled waters in total, at a maximum rate of 1 stack per minute. I normally have to buy water from stores for 12 gil apiece, at best 11 gil, which would cost 5760 or 5280 gil respectively for this many. It's also a lot less inventory space than 40 stacks of distilled water, so you don't have to keep running to the grocery store in the middle of a skilling run.
