Made the urchin sushi today and tried using it. Visible stat changes were HP +40, STR +1, and VIT +5, ATTK +1, DEF +2. Don't know if there is a way for testing other stats like ACC or EVA.

I suppose if these stats are true, this would be prime PLD food...

Did you unequip everything so you could compare this to your base stats?

Sry but PLD food offers def&vit. . .there's no point for a PLD to eat any kind of sushi (acc food). PLD mainly builds TP from taking hits and uses mostly Spirits Within which i have yet to see miss. It's pretty unlikely that a PLD will start dealing major DMG w/ whatever food in xp pt, but he will die with att or acc food on IT mobs.

although you are right that pld food should be vit+defense. however this food would be good on dynamis and for kiting gods or what not where +HP is more important to give your healers a longer window of time to land a Cure IV or V on you.

the +accuracy is just an added bonus just in case you've built up tp getting whacked around alot in dynamis, engage a mob real quick use spirit taker then disengage again.

Just to hazard a guess, the levels for sushi might look something like this:

Carp sushi 54
Tuna sushi 64
Squid sushi 74
Sole sushi 84
Urchin sushi 94

Which means we're out of room for my favorite, salmon sushi TT

Edit:
According to ffxi.cannotlinkto, The levels are 70, 77, 84, and 93 for squid, tuna, sole, and urchin sushi respectively.

Yeah; Carp Sushi isn't really associated with the newer types of sushi. It uses a very different recipe, and doesn't require the "Raw Fish Handling" key item to be able to prepare. Also, in comparison, it kinda sucks. >_<;

I received the recipe from Jacodaut after reaching level 91. That would put the cap between 92 and 95. Unfortunately I can't find any Bibiki urchin on the auction house at the moment.
RE: Skill level cap
# Jul 04 2005 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
Confirmed these are at least level 92, recieved a skill up after 14 synths at level 91.3, these can by bought in babiki bay. Only cooking them to find the cap, sadly there is only 2 stacks sold in jeuno ah 100k and 55k both bought and sold by same person. Not sure if this is a GP item or what, one can only hope. the fish are over 3k in the shop, I understand you can clam for them in the bay. Does anyone know what the real stats are on this so we can have alla update there site, might be the reason these dont get any advertisment. Prices are based on Fenrir Jeuno AH if you would like to try one of these on fenrir send redhare a /tell

I think the ingredients for this synth are:

Tarutaru Rice
Rice Vinegar
Bibiki Urchin
Distilled Water
Pamtam Kelp

Requires Raw fish handling, key item for 30k guild points.

this def has some hidden effect
# Dec 07 2004 at 5:32 AM Rating: Decent
i tried this stuff out and the only visible effects i got were -1 MND and 40hp. For something that req. a key item, around 90 skill, and over 7k to make it has to be doing something else that we can't see. If anyone tests this stuff out and finds what it does Please Post it
Confused
# Dec 06 2004 at 2:53 AM Rating: Excellent
Well, I have to say that whatever it effects I cant see very well, I ate some and it gave me -1 MND and 29 hp. And the correction to the recipe is to *** 1 pantam kelp to the above ingredient list. It makes one plate of urchin sushi, but it appears to be stackable. I made this as a lvl 90 cook with synth support, please let me know if anyone else knows more about the stat effects!

I tried cooking this up today so I could test it out and see what the stats were.. But it told me the ingredients couldn't be combined.

So I added Ground Wasabi to it, since other Sushi recipes use Wasabi. Still couldn't be combined...

Not sure what's going on yet..
