I made a 4 stacks of these (1 stack ingrediants) today. I started with Cooking 95 / Alchemy 10 but alchemy quickly leveled to 11 for cap. I didn't get any HQ and was dissapointed because i am 33 level above that cap. Would it help if my alchemy were higher?
Please reply. Thanks

hmmm did someone look how many items this one took
# Feb 07 2006 at 11:19 PM Rating: Decent
crude forgo to put in my statement. I counted how many ingridients it took to make this version of Gelato...umm why does it take 9 things????? when you only have enough room in your synth grid for 8 things?

Because one is a key item which is just there but not used also you can actually use 9 materials including the crystal which may be what got you confused once you use a crystal it opens up those 8 grids for other materials so basically the crystal doesnt count since you dont have to add it in the ingredients, though some synths do require a cluster in the actual ingredients to make a synth i believe the light/dark animas come to mind ^^b

hmmmm. Well Jeuno AH on fenrir (which is considered a fairer priced server) has(x12) them for 40-50k with a yeild of 4 from normal synth these yeild (x4) makes 4 stacks (no hq or failure) and sells for 6k each (72k stack x 4) minus the other items needed (are cheap and common) these are quite profitable when available and requested by guild. Other servers may vary but from my exp these are never in great enough supply, thus you could probably name your price from higher level cooks wanting to get GP.

Yes, it will factor in your sub-crafts level when trying to make something for skill or HQ something.

I just made a stack of 4. Cooking 86, Alchemy 20
375 guild points ea.

Stacks of snoll arms on Unicorn are up to 60k, I *think* the popularity has caught on. I think I like tacos better though. Just sayin'.

The Alchemy skill needed for this synth is lvl 11. That's the point where my Alchemy stopped skilling up and I continued to make 20 more synths afterward.

This item does not need to be at lv.85+ or lv.90 on cooking skill to make it

When I was Craftsman rank, the NPC for the GP requested a Snoll Gelato, in my opinion it in a range of lv.60-70 and Alchemists around lv.30-40
if this Snoll Gelato was lv.85+ the GP NPC will not request such an item when your like in craftsman rank.

I just did 12 synthesis' of this and my results were

32 Snoll Gelato [8 NQ synth]
18 Subzero-Gelato [3 HQ(4 gelato)][1 HQ(6 Gelato)]

with level 95+2 cooking / 60 Alchemy

The HQ's came in lots of 4, and 6. So I guess these have a few HQ levels.

I wish more people on Seraph would farm the snoll arms for this recipe. i would love to make this more often but as a WHM I really can't farm them. If anyone would like to sell them directly to me you can send me a /tell to Ovia on Seraph. They sell for around 1k a piece though I have seen them for more at times. I don't know what the drop rate is like on them though. The snoll arms do stack btw.
RE: snoll arms

here's a suggestion for ya if you'd like to see more of them available, pay more for them. Even if the person at the AH is selling them for cheaper. Why? More incentive for people to farm them. They go for 3k now on my server, Valefor, which imo is still cheap, although they used to go for 1-1.5k. Only problem, at that low price, people don't want to farm them. Stacks of NQ gelato's go for 24k however, which is still very profitable, and HQ goes for 70k, which is really nice (not many other foods can you make that kind of profit). But if the farmers get more back for getting these prized lil' items, you're more likely to see them available more often. Even at 3k a peice and people farming them more than before, the demand for gelato's is still higher than the supply.

I just tested this, and as a 62 RDM/BLM, max mp went up +75, and mp regenerated +1. No INT or MND boosts, or any other stats for that matter. Good food for Summoners I would think.

Edit: Lasts for 30 min.

Personally, I would love to make and sell this, as well as use it for myself on a regular basis. The problem I find is the lack of snoll arms because on my server they're rarely found up for sale in the AH. It seems that not many people find it worth their time to farm these, or those that do farm them, simply use the arms to create their own gelato and never bother to sell it.

Food Update- MP %

It should be noted this item has recently changed with the rest of the food update. The MP it gives is now a %, no clue what that calculation is, but at level 75 WHM this gives 75 MP. Sadly, my cooking is only 47 atm so I have to work on it to be able to make these, but this is the ideal WHM/SMN food now, for high level WHMs/SMNs at least since that is a percent of MP gained (a level 10 WHM might get 5 MP). Only difficulty with this food is the rarity of snoll arms... Luckily my SMN can farm them, if I avoid the EP tigers ; ;

94.8 cooking skill and 7.something alchemy skill

I synthed 2 (and got .2 alchemy skill up) and failed one.

No HQ, which is Sub-Zero Gelato. I'm assuming that's only because my alchemy skill isn't high enough.

At lvl 68 i had alot of breaks when making these. If your having problems locating the Snoll Arm in the ah its because you will find it under Ammo. :) Going rate for them at moment on garuda is 800 a piece. They last 30 minutes and the rare of these lasts 60 min.
