Did a BCNM 60 "Wild Wild Whiskers" a lil while ago with my ls buddies. we had ninja, whm, blm. we did awesome. did it 3 times. won everytime and got the pents rope drop everytime. lucky i guess. anyways what im getting at is that im a 70 blm and i have wanted this gear since i first saw it in the ah (btw im broke and usually have about 800-1000k at 1 time). i hate farming and spending money, but in my opinion im not gimped. if i see that i can get an item off a drop rather than buy it i will camp the NM or mob for it for weeks. i was standing at the ah admiring this magnificient piece of perfection (which is 2.8 mil on asura) when i got discouraged and started look at other prices. went to pents rope and it was up to 3.2mil. so i got up my courage, sold my pents rope and bought this, the manillas, errant body, errant head, errant legs, and errant feet. i thought that it was a great deal myself. wondering what everyone else thinks. thanks

As much as I like the Penitent's, the Weskit and Errant pieces you mentioned are far more useful. You definitely made a good deal. Now get your LS buddies together and do the BCNM60 again to get your Rope back. :)

Ugh, I'm sorry, but I gotta say the fashion shot for this is just horrible. Not only can you not really see the armor scrunched up on an ugly little midget, but it's just making the stupidest face and I want to dropkick it. I mean he's probably just going to overnuke and get one-shotted, look at em'.

Anyway, this is a great armor, geared right in the center between resist and damage concerns, as well as the highly underrated Conserve MP stat. Extra Dragon Talons can come from the relatively untouched Ash Dragon (yes, it drops something!) if you have a skilled enough group.

That Taru could probably wipe you clean off the face of Vana'diel.

And that 'ugly little midget' is probably one of the best blm's in the game...don't insult them just because you don't happen to like the fashion shot. How about you submit a better one?

Btw, every time I post a message, I get sent to a " you're webpage could not be found " yet the post does in fact get posted. I was wondering if this is a common glitch with everyone which results in the double posts as I have done, or if it is just me.

Awesome Gear!!
# May 24 2005 at 8:47 PM Rating: Decent
First of all I have to confess that this is my first post on this site all though I have used it like crazy since I started playing. I've had this armor in my inventory along with all the other blm gear I'll need till lvl 75. Unfortunately carrying igqira weskit, along with spells from 70-75, Snow Rings, Demon Helm and other bs stuff can sometimes be more of a downfall than you'd think lol ( GET MANNEQUINS ) Anywayz, I bought my Weskit armor for 2.6 mil (yes you heard that right .... 2.6 mil on Bahamut). Since then I let a good friend of mine borrow the armor because he wanted to compare the sorcerers coat, Weskit, and Mahatma to see which is truly best, about a week later he showed me pages upon pages of info and statistics that he had written down ( what a geek ) but clearly had shown that weskit is in fact better than sorcerers coat and the best blm body armor in the game. So I must say that I'm proud to have it and all the people who say that they are more pimp cuz they have sorcerers, well to put it kindly, congratz on getting an extremely hard to obtain body armor.... but in the best gear department, I got ya this time : )
Curse?
# Apr 29 2005 at 7:56 AM Rating: Decent
I have a question about the curse effect.
Does it curse the mob when it hits you or when you hit it.
Just wondering, I probably sound stupid asking this but the description is a little confusing.

RE: Curse?

Yes, it is when the mob hits you. It also has an almost 100% activation rate. The curse is very weak though so you don't notice much difference.

actually, it's not weak. it depends on the mob's HP, if a mob with full health hits and gets cursed. it will lose 11% of it's health when it's uncursed, so if the mob had 10000 HP, it will lose 1100 HP, but only when it has full health.

If im correct once the mob is cursed it automaticly cuts down hp so for example if it has 100% hp then it gets curse hp is still 100% but once curse gets off the % drops

It's when the mob hits you, I have the gloves myself, and when I go farming I always train the mobs. I notice that some of them get cursed as they attack me but I haven't even hit them yet.

1.2mill on Asura. I just dinged 73 today and I am trying to save up to get this. Sad thing is that it was 500k not too long ago, then the next sale was 1mill. There was no inbetween, jumped drastically out of nowhere, must have been a shortage of Talons. Definately nice stats though, and a different look fromt he same-ol joe shmoe.

It changed like that on shiva as well. Just under or about 1 mil, to 2 mil. Part of the reason why it jumped in price might be because of lots and lots of blms getting upper levels- thank SE for that (exp changes in the last update). That would explain the tripling of Fire IV, doubling of Aero IV, and Water IV... some of the errant gear jumped too. The other reason, I think, is greed... I asked a couple of HNMlses, "300K per talon isn't very much to split between 20 people..." So... they charge it because people will still pay for it- (~800K each now). Oh well. Its the last buyable armor blm needs, so... I guess I can't complain too much.

black cloak vs. this?
# Jan 15 2005 at 8:38 PM Rating: Decent
i personally would rather have both.
it may get slightly annoying or what not, but once i get to 73... im going to have macros where i equip this and my af hat whenever i use a nuke, and then when the nuke is done, hit a macro to change back to my black cloak for the refresh effect.
might get kind of annoying, but much better then just using one.
RE: black cloak vs. this?
# Feb 25 2006 at 2:03 PM Rating: Excellent
I realize I'm replying over a year after this was posted, but that seems like a lot of macros when you could put it all in one macro, but if you are going to switch more gear than this when you nuke its not going to work >.> This is how I would do it.

/equip Main "<Insert Staff Here>"
/equip Body "Igquira Weskit"
/equip Head "Wizard's Petasos"
/ma "<Insert nuke here>"
/wait <insert number here depending on nuke>
/equip Body "Black Cloak"
Blm Armors-Igqira Weskit
# Jan 04 2005 at 9:57 AM Rating: Excellent
Just wanted to post my experience about this amor since I have read some of the comments made and I am actually happy I have this armor; when it first came out I spent over a million gil to have it made for me (have it signed by a well known bonecrafter on Asura) and have not regretted it. As far as the stats, I constantly use my Black Cloak, my Errant Hauppelate (sp?), and Igqira and find that this piece of body armor nets me the most damage. Granted on exp mobs (VT and some IT at 75--Golems mostly) at times the damage difference with the 3 different armors is minute, but I seem to outdamage other taru blms using same gear as me minus the Igqira by an average of 30 to 50 (seen more than 100 difference at times--Also, I made sure that when I tested my results vs other taru blms that I gave them Melon Pies +1 so we ate the same food) for the same nukes. The conserve MP effect is truly very random, I have gone fights where using the same nukes I seem to be near full Mp and at other times I seem to be low on Mp.

From all the battles I been involved in for HNMs and Dynamis, I actually find that Black Cloak is better (sometimes Errant/Mahatma for the additional -Enmity) as the constant refresh helps out a bit. As far as endgame Blm gear, I find that the only body piece I want to get is the Sorcerer's Coat as the stats on it are pleasant enough and I like having the Refresh effect on; though once I obtain the Sorcerer's Coat I will once again test out my results in nuking vs mobs and against fellow taru blms to see what gives me the best results as though I do not have the best gear yet, I want to keep trying to get it (mahatma legs are my next item to obtain, etc)
to make..

a total random note:
Igqira is a word an african tribe uses for Witchdoctor or "Diviner" and a weskit is a vest. I always find it interesting that all these odd words used in equipment sets are grounded somewhere in culture and mythology. So this equip set is the witchdoctor set :D

Actually, Final Fantasy uses almost no 'fantasy' words - almost all the words they use are either codes (the Hymn of the Fayth, for example) or actual words from 'obscure' languages and mythology. It's a fun game to find the origins of the names of your equipment.

It is, in fact, from the Xhosa language, spoken mostly in South Africa. It's in the opening line of a marriage chant, and I believe there is a vocal click in the word... not sure where. There's my intelligence for today =P. Ah! The click is in the place of the "q". It's a click made by placing the tongue at the roof of the mouth and I'm sure you've all made such a click as a child so I won't elaborate.

Better than Dalmatica and AF2
# Nov 28 2004 at 1:27 PM Rating: Decent
This is definitely better than both Dalmatica and Blm AF2. Heck, it might even be better than a Mahatma Houppelande!

Dalmatica gives a Magic Atk Bonus of +5, 55 more MP, and Refresh; this gives a Magic Atk Bonus of +6 AND Elemental Magic Skill +5 (thus more damage), and although reducing the cost of all your spells by 2 MP might not equal Refresh and 55 more MP, you get to keep 55 HP.

Sorcerer's Coat gives Elemental Magic +5, 12 MP, Refresh, and Emnity -2; this gives Elemental Magic +5 AND Magic Atk Bonus +6 (thus more damage), reduces the cost of all your spells by 2 MP (which is arguably as good as 12 MP and Refresh), and Emnity -2 doesn't mean so much compared to the wide variety of items that give as much or more.

Finally, Mahatma Houppelande gives INT +11, MP regained from resting +6, and Emnity -4; assuming that INT affects Magic Atk in the same way that Strength affects regular Atk, Int +11 would be roughly equal to Magic Atk +6. Conserve MP +2 is better than MP regained from resting +6, and again, Emnity -4 isn't all that much compared to the extra damage you'll be dealing and all the Emnity Minus gear you have in your other equipment slots.

Thus, I hereby proclaim that the Igqira Weskit kicks more *** than any other possible Blm body equip.

Haha, your comparison of INT to Magic Attack is like saying 6 Defense is better than 11 VIT, because the 11 VIT only gives you 5.5 Def..

Infact... Could you just edit your post and DELETE it? 90% of the info you posted about is Incorrect and the theory/assumptions you made completely wrong...

Sry to bash on you. I realize your lvl 36blm and as such don't know a ton about the job... Which is competely fine as your not expected to be a blm expert at that lvl.
Anyhow, rather then spread false info... I'd be easier if the post were just edited out. :)

lol lol lol

That isn't how Conserve MP works...

Conserve MP is kinda like Treasure Hunter, or Triple Attack/Double Attack in that it is RANDOM...
Here's a link that explains it... Why you were unable to check this link out to begin with is beyond me. lol

I know it's gonna drop allllllll the way down, but oh well, least i look sexy :D
MAgical attack bonus is great, and i wear the Elite Beret with it so i can have more elemental magic skill.

I may not be a BLM, but this looks like the best BLM body piece in the game as of yet. Even the AF2 body and Dalmatica seem to be overshadowed by this piece. Right now it's going for about 800k on Quetzalcoatl (because one guy jacked up the price of Dragon Talons, apparently).
it's great :D
# Sep 26 2004 at 9:28 PM Rating: Decent
It's really nice :D.

The price will lower quite a bit, the only rare ingredient in the synth is a dragon talon. And even that isn't too rare. (it's a common drop from fafnir/nidhogg and ash dragon) Before this synth came out, these talons were 35k on Seraph. The AH sold out of them immediately though...
I love being a blm >.>
