Making for skill

Must have Smithing above 45 before you can attempt this reciepe. The odds of you skilling are very very low you will break alot if you dont have smithing up above 55-60. If smithing is up to here you should be able to get better skill ups with less money spent.

Actually most Woodworkers only get Smithing to 45 and use overwhelming Moghancement: Wind. By doing this, you can skill up on the recipe and you're very unlikely to lose your ingot when you break (because of the Moghancement). This is a great way to go because currently on Gilgamesh, an Adaman Ingot is 550k and an Iron-Splitter is 150k. This helps avoid a 400k loss per synth.

What's the ballpark smithing skillcap on this?

KI says this is only a wood synth.

Somepage doesn't even have it listed.

Any ideas?

my best guess, based on materials, is probably as high as you can get it, so 60. adaman isn't an easy or low lvl metal to work with, so the recipe probably takes a badass smithing lvl.

EDIT: confirmed with at least one source :D

I submitted the recipe last week and either they misprinted it or took someone elses wrong recipe. Its 100 woodworking, not 100 smithing.

**edit: wow they fixed that fast lol

used this in a KRT exp pt last night, my retributions actually outdamaged asuran fists quite a few times. and my normal attacks were ranging from 80-130. much better than s/s or earth staff in a bones pt.

As a Paladin, try a Spirit Taker with that beast of a staff compared to an Earth Staff, then you'll realize its purpose.

I really think it would be cool if SE made staffs just as good for Monks as HTH is for us. After all, staffs are an important martials arts weapon too, and we should have good mastery over those with the option to use hand-to-hand as well. Just an idea that I think would add a little variety to Monk

It can be used for soloing..

Really people, not all items are designed solely for xp pts.
This helps fix DRGs problems.

DRGs have a B+ in staff, so against those Shelled and Bone monsters later on in the game, this will get rid of that damage inneficency they have.

i kinda think the point is for PLDs... PLDs often use staves at higher levels .... well let me rephrase that ... they use an earth staff so you could switch from your earth staff to the iron splitter to save on that cure 1 mp .... nothing but a luxury item with absouloutly zero purpose

unless you're a PLD in a bones party. in a bones party you dont tank, its nigh impossible, so you just bring some DD gear and a badass staff - aka this one. also, this would be a good soloing staff, and actually does have some potential damage-wise.
Staff monks

Believe me I thought using a two handed weapon for a mnk was gonna up my attack. IT DIDN'T! H2H is where its at for Mnks. Tho the Dex and healing bonuses are nice but who would really wanna use this?
?

Any real use ?
RE: ?
# Mar 18 2005 at 11:44 PM Rating: Decent
to be honest, aside from being good for pld (apparently) it's one of about 2 synths to get woodworking capped at 100
hmm

looks great for monks, actually. Well..I mean staff monks.
