VS Undead
# Dec 28 2005 at 9:29 AM Rating: Decent
Please dont try to use this in exp pt against undead. Well I mean test it of course, but remember our lvl 70 lance (forgot the name, the black one) also doed blunt dmg. the WS's with the lance are peircing, but a banih before the WS really does help. Ive tested these two a bit and in exp being able to use Wheeling Thrust is something you need. And the lance just does straight up more dmg (at least when I was testing)
Should I buy this?

Right now its at a pretty cheap price of 5k. Should I buy it before inflation gets it?

As a fun side note, a drg was doing escort with me the other day and happened to swap out equipment after getting the NPC.

he swapped into wyrven + HP equipment and lo and behold, Olivia the NPC gained the HP bonus as well. (he put on his drg AF pants)

I'm curious if anyone tested this stuff with other eq. and a /smn.

It's just for fun but I wonder if summoned avatars will also count as "wyrvens" when you got that wyrven equipment on. Maybe they should just say pet +50 hp or something.

Seems blatent for a DRG to really use this as a combat staff huh? But then again, it isn't really meant for combat by a DRG. There's better staves than this.

The REAL purpose of this staff is to boost Wyvern Healing Breath potency. Healing Breath is governed by the Wyvern's Max HP and current TP. By increasing the Wyvern's HP by 10%, (I.e. DRG AF Pants), you increase the Healing Breath potency by roughly 10% as well.

This staff at it's current level would probably give the Wyvern a 5-7% boost to HP again. So you would probably be having fun throwing out Healing Breath III at an easy 220+ for 5-7MP. (This is an estimate...)

Fun for skill working those Healing Breaths be~

In an actual Party... you need the Armet, a PLD who is willing to be your "inflatable dummy", and a RDM, BRD, or Juices when your MP hits half.
DRG as healer seems stupid, yet they are the most potent and effecient straight out healer in the world for some odd reason... You are limited to specific Mobs though, and the if you intend on DRG/Mage healing, you should know which ones you can handle. (There are quite a bit too... personal favorite are Crawlers. ^.^)

Crap, you beat me to posting the purpose of this staff. Another thing not to overlook is Staff has a WS that drains MP. Very very useful for a Drg/mage acting as a healer.

Yeah i just noticed teh wyvern HP affecting the healing breaths today, i just hit 63 and went to throw on my Feral pants, to my surprise healing breath dropped from 198 to 181. guess ill be saving those for melee sj.

On a sidenote, At high lvl drg/mage is the way to go for HNM fights because your wyverns dmg is calculated teh same way as a Rngs, all you have to do is strike the HNM once and your wyvern will follow even kitied NM and continue to hit it so long as you are engaged. You may hit for a big fat 0 but turn off your filters and see your Wyvern take bites out of those NM. So while your wyvern is doing dmg, you will also be slinging out Zero Hate High Potency Cure3's for 5-7 mp. And when the fit hits the shan dont forget the A$$ saving Divine Seal+ Curaga2+ Super Jump.
So keep those staff lvls up Drgs!!! (i personally didnt and am now seriously hurting for skill ups)

I thought everyone should know that the Staff WS called "Spirit Taker" does not steal mp from the enemy. Actually, it converts the amount of dmg you do with the WS to your mp. So if you do 200 dmg with it, you will receive 200 mp. It can be a great skill to have when soloing as a Drg/mage job. If used properly with with a lance, staves can allow a drg/mage to solo xp without any downtime what so ever. When your mp starts to get low, switch to stave and use the ws. If it misses though, you could be out of luck lol.

Why you would want it

Staves are useful for skeletons, as spears do crap damage to them, not sure if this is the best stave for dragoon but it has a nice HP bonus for wyvern along with not tooo horrible damage =)
Hmmm...

{Hmmm...} I can't see myself as a dragoon ever wanting to use this unless there was some incredibly nasty AOE mob I was fighting, over and over... I'd probably dismiss my wyvern before resorting to this though.

And yes, the 50 is + to wyvern HP.

==EDIT==

Okay, now I just remembered about the higher levels... and blunt damage on skellies, so yes, I could see using it

It is HP to your Wyvern. When new skill mods are added the database has to have its nightly reboot before it shows up.
