I'm on the Rogetsu and have tossed a couple more relics since my upgrades so yes you can have more than one as long as they aren't on the same upgrade.
Actually, Kikoku does mean to return to one's country.
帰国 They are literally "return" "country/homeland". However, you are right in that this is not what FFXI's Kikoku is. I did a little hunt for kanji to see if there was legitamcy with your claim (as it'd make alot more sense), and found another Kikoku:
é¬¼å“ Which is literally "ogre/demon" "wail/whimper/weep". So we're both right. As Kikoku (return) is an actual word that refers to a subpopulace of JP culture though, I'm sure you can understand where the misconception came from; compared to Kikoku (wail) that is a manipulation of ON readings. There was a movie called this; that helped me hunt down the kanji.
For those curious, the kanji for Metsu (Shoujahitsumetsu) is: 生者必滅
They mean 'life' 'some/one' 'eventually' 'ruin/extinction'. Effectively, "all living things eventually die". The verb for extinction is 絶滅ã™ã‚‹ (zetsumetsusuru). Good times.
As stated, Kikoku means 'to return to one's country'. Can't elaborate on that, as I'm not sure what it conotatively implies.
'Metsu' is the NA/EU shortened version of the JP(real) weaponskill (the kanji, I'm sure, use an On reading, and this is probably Kun) Shou ja hitsu metsu, which does translate to: "All living things must eventually die". The Metsu is the verb "to become extinct".
Oh yeah from here on out im devoting every ounce of energy I have to getting this katana. And my guess at a rough translation combination of kikoku and metsu given what ppl have already posted.....Katana made to send all living things to their final resting place.
Hello um, i have a thief and was wondering as long as i was 75, and had nin subbed, could i still use this item?, or would i have to have a nin at 75 as main instead of thf to use it
Yes... I know you can't have two Kikokus. ~.^ Rare/Ex. However, I've seen the question, and I don't believe it was quite clear enough to obtain an answer.
The scenario: Once you've got your Kikoku, is it possible to begin the weapon upgrade quest again from the beginning, and end with one Kikoku, and one Yoshimitsu? Even counting Fudo's higher Crit rate, the combination would do more damage over time, as well as having a higher Paralysis chance.
Question is... Is this possible? Or does the Rare/Ex cover the entire family? (Meaning, is it even possible to obtain a new Ihintanto if you've earned the Kikoku?) And also, is the upgrade quest repeatable, or are you only able to obtain the Kikoku once? One would imagine it should be possible, if you should (heaven forbid) accidentally drop your Kikoku. (Ignoring the fact you'd have to be brain-dead to even have the potential of considering it.)
If anyone has done part/all of a weapon upgrade quest, and can confirm whether or not you can reobtain the Ihintanto and/or upgrade that to the level below the one you're working on, that'd be sweet.
Yes you can get a second Ihintanto after upgrading the first one.I currently have mimizuku and Ihintanto. From what I understand each upgrade stage from each weapon is treated as a seperate quest meaning if you start katana you cant start dagger till you finish the current stage of katana. So you could theoretically start a second relic katana stage 2 upgrade quest after finishing the first ones stage 3.
Sadly to say, Blade: Metsu is not a 20-hit ws(lol as much as I'd like to ay it is). It is a 4- or 5-hit ws I believe. But it still looks cool, let me assure you. I'll let you know this: its very gassy and purple looking, with a big explosion at the end. I can't really explain it better than that, but thats the best I can do XD
now before ya go judging me negatively, I want everyone to know that this information was retrieved through the POLutils program. I found it pretty interesting myself, but it's up to you whether or not you want to believe it:
katana- Blade: Metsu- Temporarily enhances Subtle Blow Effect (??? I'm not sure either -_-).
G. Katana- Tachi: Kaiten- Temporarily increases amount of TP stored with each hit.
Sword- Knights of the Round- additional effect: regen.
G. Sword- Scourge- additional effect: temporarily improves critical hit rate
Hand to Hand- Final Heaven- Temporarily improves Subtle Blow effect.
Dagger- Mercy Stroke- Temporarily improves Critical hit rate.
Keep in mind that I can in no way be 100% positive that these are ALL correct. However, considering the program that I am using is reading straight from the FFXI .dat files, I would hope that this information is correct. In any case, enjoy! ^^
"katana- Blade: Metsu- Temporarily enhances Subtle Blow Effect (??? I'm not sure either -_-)." yes NINs do get subtle blow, pretty useful if you have 2 attacks
omg ive seen this thing in action is bearly even funny on occational hits it has a DMG amplifier of x3 so with 1 normal hit he did upto 460 DMG it was bearly funny. Crazy Sh*t..
Everyone wants to see pics of the final Relic Weapons, well I got a hold of a website that has pics of people (very filthy rich ones) that already have the final product.
Rate up if you can, people rated me down cause i said i got a NM drop. if you dont believe me, check a NM page where someone didnt get rated down for it >.>
im assuming you could finish the quest for this once, and then (hopefully) quest a second one up to its second best stage so you could essentially get 2 relic weapons, and the free use of Metsu outside of dynamis... someone head me up on that if its not possible... ill post this under the other forms of it
BTW Its not the Katana that gives you the Ability to use Blade: Metsu, Its the quest for getting the katana that gives u the ability to use Blade: metsu, The katana is EX so u cant bye it u have to quest it......so i was told
It is my understanding that when the final stage of a relic weapon is equipped, then the final WS can be used. I don't think you have access to the WS unless the weapon is equipped (or the version before final if you're in dynamis).
i thought ninja's get 2 katanas relic weapons? i know one looks like a normal katana the other one looks like a knife katana like the one you get at the begining but all cool looking
I'm assuming you saw that on the model viewer. It's actually a Dagger-class weapon called a "Kard" (link=http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=4413][/link]). It looks pretty cool, low delay and good damage for that level. A really good knife for Bard too.
