i was hunting these with a friend and then he said that these arent droped from leaping lizzy so we went to gelsba and did the ques but we got are a$$es handed to us so we got a third person drk/whm to be a damage dealer and we be healer so we did it got the boots but then my friend who had the bounding boots got the leaping and wouldnt trade them to me so i hated him but after wards he got me my gimped nin scroll and somre new armor because he sold these for 1mil on hades server
This is what you NEED to know. 1st) Both lizards will cast their evasion up ability when you agro them. This means that they will both stand roughly in place for a few seconds before moving in to attack - Meaning that you have time to run into range and bind one of them before they can even move from their spawn spot.
Secondly...Here's some information from my paladin's log (Some of the dmg taken was with sentinel active) What I was hit for. Kalamainu hits you for: 51, 50, 48, 50, 43, 69, 36, 45(crit), 29, 27(tailblow), 39(crit), 32, 44(crit), 23 (He can double attack) (all this damaged happened in this order, spread out over the fight of course) Kilioa hits you for: 31, 15, 22, 18, 24, 33,
*Kilioa hit my paladin considerably less because the warrior/ninja held agro most of the fight.
- Blizzard is your money maker as a RDM, I've yet to have a blizzard hit for less than 78, or more than 78. Aero hit for 56.
- Both lizards will slow/paralyze with out much difficulty (my enfeebling is maxed)
- Gravity will last at the most 1 minute, it should refresh just before it wears off if it runs full duration. If you haven't used gravity much it does an amazing job at slowing the movement speed, you can very easily kite the mob around.
- Bind will last a little less than a minute in my timings, or right at a minute. Either way its a 40 second recast and should refresh before it wears off if it runs full duration.
Reasons for my failures: 1st Attempt and Failure is after the Hobgoblin chocolate wore off (5minute effect) I selected my Instant Warp scroll instead. I moved back and forth and side to side but ultimately it still went off and the Paladin was back in Sandy. I had killed the first lizard at this point. Also note I had burned Invincible and Chain Spell. I kited the white lizzy around while trying to recover hp/mp on War/Rdm but ran out of time.
2nd Wipe was due to bind and gravity not sticking for full duration and being unable to recast due to recast timer! Rdm died before the first lizard Kilioa died. Pld and War finished off Kilio before the Rdm's dieing Bind wore off. I managed to beat Kalamainu to about 20% before dieing, I did use Mighty Strikes for this.
3rd Wipe was due to my power going out.
My fights are pretty well mapped out prior to me going in. Noting the set-up above the battle goes like this.
I load in all three toons and buff up. Protect II on everyone and blink/aquaviel on the RDM. I rest up, when I que heal on the RDM I draw the melee's weapons and use Utsusemi:Ichi on the warrior. When the RDM is at full mana (444mp) I use Hobgoblin Chocolate on the melee and Elemental Seal on the RDM.
I auto run the warrior than the paladin. When the lizards agro they will cast their evasion up buff, I always kill Kilioa first, and before Kala can move off much I have him bound, then I gravity him (the thing that will cause you the most trouble is not seeing when gravity fades, MAKE SURE YOU KEEP GRAVITY UP! GRAVITY AFTER BIND SO WHEN BIND FADES THEY RUN SLOW.
Next I will sentinel on the paladin and berserk on the warrior. The warrior usually has agro at this point so I voke on paladin and utsusemi again on war. Once utsu is recastable I voke on warrior and try to get agro so i can soak 4 hits and paladin heals himself. How long killing Kilioa will take you greatly depends on how lucky you are with landing your hits. I guesstimate she has around 1200-1500hp. Its also during this time I will slow/para kilioa.
If you're lucky all your binds/gravities will run full cycle and you'll never have much trouble as the Rdm, though another caution is to make sure you only cure III after a voke otherwise you're likely to get agro and that can prove lethal.
I've had no luck turning my back to the stone gaze. With Hobgoblin chocolate on it never really lasts long and with the warrior there as a back up tank its really NP.
Outside of a few minor other details I think you can see the flow of the fight. Watch for food fading, make sure you keep aquaviel up if it happens to fade because you won't live very long if the lizzy being kited isn't bound or gravitied. What else to tell you? I don't see using anything but a RDM as the kiter as working. I think two ninjas could do tank/dd, the idea behind a war/nin with a greataxe is to cause less tp gain by the lizard to do stone gaze, but if you have the right food it isn't that much of a problem (in 6 attempts that's my 2 cents).
Any questions you can reply here or message me in game on Seraph server, character's name is Ephron, Anthean, or Analyia.

Today I fought this BCNM for the first time. My party consisted of drg/rdm (daray), pld/war(Brennelle), and Rdm/drk(Lunaricia)(me). I kited the white lizard while the other two killed the brown one. Only items used were fishkabob for pld, mithkabob for drg, and i used a yagudo drink each time. We fought it 3 times and broke record each time for a final time of 6 minutes flat on Kujata server. All in all it was the easiest BCNM i've done so far and we didn't get the boots but im planning on trying again once I get more beastmen's seals.
These boots are usable by dancer but have yet to be updated as of today. I just came back to the FFXI adulthood after playing with the kiddies over at W.o.W. land. I was surprised that these things still cost over 300k on Sylph even after they added the rare/ex version of them. I bought them anyway. I hope they update the Dancer equipment and stats soon. I am currently playing dancer/beastmaster and my character profile says that dancer has base MP[]. HUH! [/]
Amazingly enough, I still don't have these lol. I could have had them many times over but well, as nice as the stats are at that lvl, I found that they really aren't worth the trouble for such a low lvl armor.
I just wanna thank my best FFXI buddy "Kakashiuchiha" on ifrit server. Because this good friend GAVE me the leaping boots to keep^^ They look mighty fine on my sam ^^
Gl to every1 trying to get it, see u on ifrit server.
Bastok, some person puts them up for 300,000 (because the last many sold were sold for 300-500K. Even though the latest one sold sold for 2.5mil). Im a happy Corsair.
I did this a few days ago so my LS member didnt have to buy the damn boots. Did it with the following setup:
PLD/WAR(me) WAR/NIN RDM/WHM (kited and supported cure)
Yag drinks and some hi-potions is all you really need if your PLD tanking. The RDM didnt really need to cure me much.
First thing I'd like to say, they hit me for most 20dmg and it was more then easy enough to cure myself a NIN/WAR or WAR/NIN isnt a required tank for this. The fight isnt that tough and its quite easy for the most part. The petrify was annoying but very easy to overcome with a PLD tank because they dont do much damage to one.
I strongly recommend u dont get your hopes up on trying to get the drop first chance tho, the drop is extreemly rare. 7 tries and 1 drop.
Last night I went back out to do BCNM30 once again, and it was like my 4th orb and still no drop. Well Stylon, Erudisia, Firelink and i was all out there to take turns trying to get the boots. I use my 4th pearl something went horribly wrong and Firelink and Erudisia died, and i finished off the second lizzy with ONLY 4 hp left, that was the closest fight anyone in our LS has ever seen, our hearts were pounding cuz of the excitement, but then it got shot down when the boots didn't drop. I mean come on, a close battle like that deserves a drop of the boots. We then went in again and Erudisia and were the only ones that didn't have the boots yet. So when the other three went in everything went right this time and they won with no problem, and this time the boots dropped. I was able to get the boots this time by lotting on them. thanx guys. I just wish that they had dropped on my fight cuz that would have just completed an exciting fight.
i don't know for sure why ppl camp the lizzy for the boots instead of doing BCNM30 either. The boots drop so much more frequently in bcnm30 then what they do off the lizzy.
why if people already have the rare/ex bounding boots do they keep on camping...ive camped that b!!ch for 4 weeks...never get a claim cause the same ppl are there...after telling me they already got the boots...with no party members...they cant trade it...ppl like that need to be backhanded, i got a few names but ill keep em to myself. better off doing bcnm 30
Wow i got this for 400,000 gill along time ago andnow i just started playing again and cked prices at AH and now they are 3.5 million gill!!!! (yeah i just sold them hahaha)
okay so are these prices gonna spike again cuz if they are im just buying them now, if not i guess il waste a day or two trying to camp for the bounding boots or whatever
ouch, if you try to get these as your first bcnm (somehow i went to 60 drg without doing one) be prepared, cause this was not at all what it would seem to be for newer players
Hah, I was wondering when this was going to happen, so I could bring my character out of retirement. You see on my server Seraph this thing was over camped to he%% and back and his boots sold in the millions. (1,300,000 or so gil probably more after I left) Time to come out of retirement! (54 thf/27 nin)
YES! We did it 0/10 on Lizzy for Bounding Boots after update. So me and 2 LS members tried our luck on the BCNM 30 and we PWNed
Set-up: RDM/NIN (me) SAM/WAR (Bullroth) RNG/NIN (Joaquim) Couple of High pots, Hi ethers, and some food and we got the boots. Wasn't too hard but a couple close calls cause of Petrify
Some HL players or some players want to change their job, they don't need the boots any more, they will sell the boots and get some gil for other use, once my friend tell me he was broken and need some gil for his smithing, he sell the boots. Is he a gil seller? No
I played WoW for awhile, and I think they did it right for the most part. Except they might have overdone it. SE is getting the picture of how gilsellers do this (personally I think they're idiots and just realized what a gilseller is) and are doing what WoW did. In WoW, practically everything you get, or make, binds to you once you pick it up, or (this is the best one) equip it. So, if you got a cool item and sold it, the person who buys it better be positive he wants it, cause once he puts it on, he can't get rid of it. Anyways, another 2 hours till the 18 hour update -groan- is over. I wanna play... (pretends FFXI didn't steal his soul)
Edit: Realized I didn't say anything about the boots, or any of the rare/ex items. Anyways... they should all have really good drop rates, if not 100%, just so people can get it and go. Then if they have to, they won't be like "I can never throw these away" and be like "I can get another pair tomorrow, woohoo!" Just my 2 gil
Someone made a comment that Leaping Boots now drop in bcnm 30 ghelsba... I don't know if it's true or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. I'll probably try it soon.
