Quite Good Actually
# Apr 29 2004 at 5:11 PM Rating: Decent
I have a full set of this myself. I bought it because it has the EXACT same DEF as the lvl 27 brass scale stuff. What everyone else is saying about the equal return from it is also true.

Anyway, if you are always the tank in PT situation, I suggest you shell out the money for this, trust me, it's worth every cent.

The Goblins in Middle Delkfutt's Tower drop the chain set. It is a very rare drop, and the goblins are probably around level 35. To properly hunt them, I'd recommend a level 50 melee job with thief sub. I was helping someone do M3-3 as a 53PLD with WAR sub. A Goblin Shaman dropped chain hose, which sells for 6k in Jeuno. We'd killed about 30 Goblins before anything dropped.

Happy hunting!

I've gotten the chain hose from Goblin Smithys in Middle Delkfutt's Tower twice now- kind of a rare drop. Never gotten the chainmail body, but if they drop the pants, I would expect them to drop the rest as well.

Edit: Just talked to a friend who said he's gotten the chain hose in Ordelle's Caves, also from a Smithy. Also...I don't believe the goblins in Kazham drop chain gear- I've taken 4 jobs through there and never seen a piece drop. So, either they don't drop in the jungle or I'm incredibly unlucky ^^

Remember. If you buy it......you can sell it which = 0 loss of gil in the long run. I actuall have bout this armor for my War and my Paladim later on and I made a profit off it when I sold it.
I won't lie. The reason I bought it was because it was really the first armor that looked good. it was the only one to deviate from the other stuff looks wise with exeption to the Lizard stuff that makes you look like a court jester ^^. And you don't lose any gil on it so it really isn't a rip off.

The Armor as in Itself looks Awesome. Despite its Expensive price it is well worth it... I myself will use this armor till i can use my set of Centurion Scale. On the Pheonix Server its about 13-15K. If you are a Tank you Rely on Updated armor and such. Therefore using even Beetle up to lv 30 is a Very poor choice.. But if you arent a tank then i would say wait.

i think the price was caused by the fact that it's the best armor to wear below 25 which is good for those lvl cap missions/quests.

Take a look at what's needed for inputs if you want to know why this armor is so expensive. It requires 4 iron chain to make, each of which take 2 iron ingots to make. That's 8 iron ingots. Add another one for the sheet, 9 ingots. Times 4 = 36 iron ore. On my server iron ore goes for about 600 at AH (and even more in NPC shops) so that's 21600 gil worth of ore. Plus a ram leather; skin costs about 500. So we're looking at more than 22k for the ingredients, not to mention all the crystals it's gonna take to make these.

Yes, I know it'd be cheaper if you hunted and mined for the inputs. But then again, once you have the skin and ore, if you use them to make something you lose the money you could have made by selling the raw materials. So either way it's a cost of over 22k to make one of these.

I myself am wearing Chainmail even though I was advised not to.. I didnt want to get beetle armor, so I was wearing Lizardskin armor.. which I think looks like crap.. I really like how chainmail looks, though the price is outrageous. The brass scale armor at 27, is very cheap *I saw the chest piece for 4000 at the AH* it looks like the level 10 scalemail armor though I was told.

I bought this piece for about 15900 off Miogique in San d'Oria, and I see them going for about 18,000-20,000 in the AH.

this armor is a ripoff in all servers, it goes for 16000 in ragnarok, which is the same price that the shops sell it for, i still bought it cause it looks cool lol
Save your money
# Jan 22 2004 at 9:18 AM Rating: Default
Just a note, I would wait for the Brass Armor at 27. This is a complete ripoff, and only 3 levels from 27. I would save the money for a much cheaper (about 3 times cheaper) Brass equipment.

I'd also like to point out that not ALL tanks can wear the Brass Scale...

Ninja tanks still need to be protected you know
RE: Save your money
# Mar 20 2004 at 5:54 PM Rating: Decent
Wrong... Brass scale provides the same defense as chainmail, but you have to wait until lvl 27 to get it, meaning you can take chain to 30, where you can then sell it and buy a full set of centurion armor, won't even have to farm... But if you are using brass, you might be better off simply throwing the armor out when it comes time to buy the cent. armor =P

It's not really a ripoff if you can wear this armor all the way to lv 30, and then sell it at no loss--and possibly a profit--to finance buying higher level armor.
Which you do seem to be able to do with the Chainmail.
