i desynth this 3 times. lv 3 gold. fist time i seen the HQ ammaion then the second and third tries faild

I'm lvl 5 goldsmithing, 0 smithing, and out of 10 tries of desytnthing this w/ lightning crystal, I was succesful in obtaining 2 copper ingots(2 seperate times). one time my goldsmithing skill went up .2
....hope that helps anybody in figuring out skill lvls for the desynth of this.

I have 1 in Goldsmithing and can craft these with decent sucess rate (with the synth support from guild, the free one) but i only ever get 0.1 increse each craft, how many levels over ur current level does the cap have to be for the skill up to be worth it? Or does the fact that i use synth support decrease the amount i get on skill level up? Thanks in adavance

I failed every time. I heard a rumor that you can make Copper Ingots this way, but my goldsmithing level is 12 and it didn't work.
I also tried this with a Silver Hairpin once, and it failed also. I didn't try it again because I didn't want to lose the hairpin.
Please let me know if this works, what level you need, and what it makes!

Lightning Crystal + Copper Hairpin does work, but there is a fairly good chance of it failing.
(aside: in the time someone answered this question, I have quit FFXI but am just now going to start again... lol)

The funny part I have found about de-synthing is that you tend to have a high failure rate from 0-11 lvls above the craft. From 12-21 you have an ok (I would say about 50%... but I am just throwing out a number), and from (-7)-(-1) and 31+ you have the best chance of success... It seems that -7-0 and 30+ (or at least for me, always seems to have the best success rate, I imagine it has something to do with skill ups for crafting below the lvl).
With that said, I did find that typically (and escpecially when using De-synths to skill up) the moment I hit one lvl below I would start to fail like mad (unless I was crafting on the right day... then it would just suck). It isn't always the case, and it would be interesting if someone tested this further:P

problem is, you need smithing level 0...

well the truth is i find the the desynths require the same skill levels as the synth does hope that helps
