If the hairpin is now ex/rare then why do so many high lvl ppl still camp it?
So they could get the Pin to lvl another job. I'm gonna need it to lvl NIN, RNG, and THF(ok, I would like to have it, but don't need.).
Did the pins that people owned convert to Ex/Rare? If not then they can sell their normal one and keep this one for themselves. I see tons of people doing that with Bounding Boots too.

Its about time that some of these ungodly items become Rare/EX. I wish more would do that. Then maybe the economy would come out of the toilet(I am sure I’m fooling myself) ;)

Price dropped by more than half price last night.. but shot back up to 800K last i checked.

Someone in my LS said that it was a dropped from a BCNM 30 with flies in Horlais Peak, but i came on here to check and found that the BCNM 30 was a beetle fight... so after debating wheather or not to sell my pin (900k now on Fenrir), i think ill keep her a little longer, at least until i can find out where they come from.
There is a BCNM 30 at Horlais Peak called Dropping Like Flies where you fight flies. Just because this site doesnt have it (well it didnt back then) doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

This item has become unsellable and untradeable. Now its name is Empress Hairpin and is a RARE/EX item.

actually THIS item is still the same, but the emperess's hair pin is the new drop (i think only) from the mighty valkurm emperor. Pls correct me if you can still get emperor's pin from valkurm. Honestly it was very camped when i last went (today), but then again alot of people get a lil to exited for haveing a rare/ex thats the same as their normal gear :P

If i completely messed up the quote thing then i'm sorry, my first time using it. If you wanted to judge someone by their gear, like many people have to me, i suppose this would be a nice alternative. I kinda like getting crap from someone about how i'm rich and theyre poor so i should not farm where they are, then i remind them the gear they were just looking at couldnt be bought. i guess in this crazy gil buying world, the little R/X is all people have left to show that they most likely earned what theyre wearing the right way.

i camped this for a good long time and i got 2 claims in a row. this is not 100% drop so dont believe thiese rumors. just a heads up sice it kinda ticked me off ^.^;

Are they rare/ex yet, last night in jeuno there were 2 hairpins in the auction house, now theres 4 in there. Does anyone know why this is?

The new item is called the "Empress Hairpin" I was the second person on Titan to get one :D wooot ^^;. (exact same stats.)

i was just wondering how the update to these items, i.e. the rare/ex same stat replacements, will affect the value of these items on the AH.
i for one am no gilseller and worked pretty damn hard grinding the gil out to buy both hairpin and lizz boots fully confident that the items would retain there value. i dont think its fair that certain persons or groups of ppl on the game can shut down an nm and therefore its drop, charging whatever they like for the item. but on the other hand, is it fair for the value of that item to essentially be negated after its been worked for? not sure if this is something that been taken into account. im just saying id gladly trade a week of camping a couple rare/ex drops if i could recoup the gil for my probly now worthless items with the same stats that i just payed 2+ mil for.

the most likely thing to happen is that the price will go down a bit. Yes, most people will trying to get the rare/ex version, but keep in mind that camping an NM is not for everyone. This item is still availble in a BCNM, and there will always be people who hate camping NMs (I hate it more than I hate PLing... soooooo boring.....), so there will always be a demand for them, however marginal it may be.

i just bought emp hairpin and LL bots sunday...im guess at first there gonna sore cause everyone gonna want Rare/EX one so it will be hard to get...soo ppl will buy normal...supply is gonna go low and demand is gonna go up...im hoping to sell each for 3+ mill

Because the item's equivalent is now available--and that equivalent is Rare/EX--although you cannot trade or mule the item, that item is now "available upon demand". That is, since the gilsellers can no longer camp the monster for profit, the old items will decrease in value as the demand will be lessened. The price will still be up there for a long while, rest assured--especially since the original IS tradable and can be muled to another character and it is a remarkable item, on top of the fact that a lot of people want it--but I highly doubt that you're going to get that hard-earned cash back, especially if you try to sell them for three million gil.

sigh, i want one. i don't have time to sit there and compete against all those bots and gil sellers. jesus. i forbid to level my thief any higher until i get this. i will never get my break in this game. so i'm taking a break. maybe if people stopped paying for this item, gil sellers wouldn't be selling them anymore. ha! /cry

HEY ppls i am 1/1 on this hehe 33SAM/16WAR thats right no TH2 you just need to be lucky like me.. and ill deff be using this till i get my AF gear for Samurai and keep it for THF!! The price on Titan has went from about 1.3 mil to about 970K Now Leaping Lizzy is next >.>

When you have several hundred HP, 15 is nothing. 3 Dex, 3 Agi, and 10 evasion FAR outweigh the paltry loss of health. Besides, having an Emperor hairpin just looks cool, I don't want a stupid beret ^^

I remember when this thing was a mear 200k. MAN I WISH I HAD THE MONEY THEN!!! It's freaking up to 1-1.5million and there's no way that's an easy feat w/o notorious monsters. I think this is over priced but not over rated. It's one of the best items in the game (for its level) and I'm jelous of anyone that won't give me one. ^.^;

just bought one of these for 860k and sells for 1.1 mill on midgar ^^
sold for 935k 4 hours later ^^...made 75k

Yes...it is used to synthesize Winged Boots. Basically they are lvl 24 boots with the same stats only +2 more defense.

Ah no the Emp pin isn't used to make winged boots. Winged boots is LL Boots n Lizzy Skin the Emp Pin stays Emp Pin. If it could be synthed higher than Alla would put if it could be.

Got this tonight with my 40 thf (almost died fighting him... 96 HP left). I am 1/2 on him, got him 2 days in a row, sitting in valk the first day 3 people camping him... I'm skilling up throwing and resting after a mean fly and I look ot my right and boom there he is... had time to get up throw 2 times (first I must have still been moving). Killed with relative ease (and I was 38 first time), and he dropped a wing ><; I don't think the others even noticed I got him
Second day skilling up Marksmanship, and my whm friend logs off for the night (thanks Tessasa for hanging out ^^) and I go to my regular skillup spot on the hill closest to the beach and look to my left and there he is floating there! I see a guy in Opticals Hat running towards it, so I run spamming my Steal macro and got claim!! He start pummeling me good this time and I manage to get Utsusemi up and rememeber to put up my battle daggers, managed to kill him and he dropped it ^^
I never thought I would have it considering its anywhere from 1mil to 1.4mil on Midgard. Thank you Se Gods for giving a little broke taru a break ^^
