im war/nin, took war up to 43 or so and was always tank so i decided to level nin so i could tank better without dying. so anyway, i need a hairpin. ive killed him 3 times now and still no drop. while ive been camping, there has been another guy there with me, hes also 0/3. we've been talking and seeing who keeps coming back. theres now a 46 thf with TH2 who is also 0/3. ive heard the drop rate is pretty good, but, combined we are 0/9 and that isnt so good. oh well, just complaining a little. ill be back out there tonight. w

what is spawn time range? i need one for my war/nin but dont want to sit there for hours and hours waiting.

I need money as everyone one does, but in same way i have other job to lvl, so i am actually asking myself if selling it is better than keeping to level other jobs, i am Elvaan so AGI+3 DEX+3 will be nice for THF or RNG.
I will maybe send it to my mule and try to get another one later and sell it i need Phalanx so 300k+ would be really nice.

I hate it how Gilgamesh's price went from 380k a while back down to 300k. How am i supposed to get a Gluttony Sword? lol. Still well worth camping the emperor because 1. he almost always drops it 2. everytime i got him he pops on me or my friend lol.
Im 45 thf, ya think i could solo it? I know its much lower level than me but without bein able to fire of a SA at beginning, not sure if i'll do enough damg.

I'm positive you can solo it.
Plus, if things get out of hand, good ole' Perfect Dodge will eliminate his hits. Oh, and by that level you have evasion bonus II, so I doubt he'll land many big hits, let alone many hits! :D

i've seen the hairpin sell for as high as 520k on Kujata server, though the price is back down to 400k. just my luck, i got mine off VE today, lol. oh well, it's 400k i didn't have before
It looks liek we have been really lucky on BAhamut. Even with Songokou selling them for 300k, mainly in Bastok, There are falling in price in Jeuno. Picked mine up early today for only 260k. They are usuallt around 280-290k though.

I've never heard of it not spawning when someone is wearing the Hairpin. But if you kill it while wearing the hairpin you wont get the drop. Because you cann't have the same rare item twice in your inventory at the same time.
But anywho its 1:45am I just got done trying to lvl in yuhuntga, to no avail. I got Leaping boots few hours before that, camped the Leaping lizzy for 7 hours. Took me 1/4 saw it 7+ times only got to kill it 4 times within that 7 hours, left there and headed to vakrum dunes at 12:30am or so, waited around for an hour and 45 minutes just hoping to see the valkrum emperor. This was my lucky day I guess only 1 RNG/THF there and I'm gussing a THF/RNG nice guy he was "Aetion" Odin server. I'm killing mobs around the area as my War48/Rng 7 Not even thinking I was going to get a chance to kill it. But, I sat for a second to gain some health, stand up look behind myself and "WALLA" VE spawns about (I'm guessing 30 feet in the game, while the RNG/THF and THF/RNG were by the tree area for spawn" I'm RUNNING GOING THIS IS TAKING FOREVER (but really only took me about 2 seconds to run to it) I hit my targetnpc VOKE macro and damn snipper was closer and voked it. Now I'm thinking I have no time left to get it "****", so I make a desprest move and engage in attack mode run to it, whispering in my mind those guys are right behind getting ready to shoot it. Then BAM! my sword hits it, HOORAY! One thing down. Finally I'm just waiting for it to die and hoping and pleading with the game to let it drop. ZING ZANG ZONG, its dead and **** only fly wing popped up on my screen then, 2 seconds later E hairpin pops up, HOOOOORAY!!! I've complete my job to get those to rare items in this week. 2/2 on Valkrum Emperor, yet, my friend helped me before on it he got the Item/rare drop from the random and sold it for 400k I got 200k :) Hope this story was as gutrenching as it was for me.

hey thanks for reading this. If i'm wearing the emp hairpin while hunting for the valkrum emperor, will the valk emp spawn? In my experience V. Emp didnt spawn when i tried to hunt for it. V. And last night some1 was wearing the V.Emp while hunting it for his friend and it didnt spawn. I was told by my LS that it will not spawn with some1 wearing it while hunting the NM.

Otherwise, if people camp it and they /check someone if they see someone wearing the emperor hairpin, they'll tell that guy to unequip it or they'll just camp it another time

this is NOT true. But if you are wearing it, you cannot get the drop. It is a rare item. You cannot have 2 of the same rares with you. The only way to trick this is to send it to yourself via the delivery system, but do not pick it up till after you got the second one. Or just send it to mule... just incase. ;)
I got lucky with this drop...ok heres the story...2 Nights ago i decided to farm him because I ultimately wanna save up for hawkers +1 and this would be a nice gil buff. So i scope the area. A uber thf and a uber nin. Nothing special. Waited from 10 to 1 am. A no show. Was pretty bummed so i just logged. Next morning i log on. there he is =O in his entirety. No one around. ALL MINE! Do eagle eye (700+ dmg =D) own him with barrage. I know there was no need but i was anxious =X... "Boomer defeats the Valkurm Emperor. Boomer Finds a Insect Wing. Boomer Finds A Emperors Hairpin" =O!!!! Was so psyched. Went to jeuno. Its selling for 450k+ Really nice pkcjet change.
Hey, to anyone that farms VE frequently, whats the drop rate like? I hear its very good (unlike Mee Degg 2/47 ;;) so yeah, just wanna see if its true or not.
wow, this thing was 300k, now in Jueno for just over 500K??? is this the same for all servers? and why are the higher priced items jumping so much??? I was going to buy one until i see it's gone up so dang much.

I think all together my linkshell on Garuda has gotten EMP about 27/34. We aren't even an NM hunting LS. o_0

I hate this stupid fly!! I am a lvl 31PLD/15THF and i have my friend help me camp it, i manage the kill most the time, (since he disengages) and even with the thf i never get this stupid drop, and i'm not yet able to mine in gusgan without friends helping me, so its hard to get 250k for me :'( think i should maybe just get thf to 45 and camp this thing solo?

uhm when i was hunting this guy he spawned outside of the area shown on the map...so now im confused to where exactly thsi guy spawns

the emperor almost always spawns at F-8 and E-8 and sometimes on rare occasions he spawns in the northern part of F-9

I hate camping NMs and this nm is the main reason. The fool doesnt know that i'm Richiez, 57 and 0 baby ;). lol j/k. But seriously this guy never drops. Hell i cant even get Emp anymore, these ninja/warriors F-It up at night. Crazy *** fools.
