Very nice bonuses. the 3 hp makes a difference when you are starting at level 1. Have survived with less than 3hp numerous times.

OK so if I start my Galka in Bastok, I get the ring automatically?? Where do you pick it up? Is it already in your inventory or mog house? or do I have to talk to some npc?

Then once I get the ring I can just hoof it to the town I really want to stay in (Windy), make enough gil to change my citizenship, and I'm good to go?? please clarify if true. Thank you

Around 14, if ur a DD that is or any type of melee job, if ur a mage there are lvl 10 rings that give mnd and int +2 that are fairly cheap. At 14 id recommend buying the HQ rings of any stat other then mnd, int, or mp. If ur melee get Dex+2 (Balance) or str+2 (Courage) rings things like that.

I think you should get this item for your starting city regardless of your race. It's not fair as it is now. My Taru, which I decided on starting in Bastok (not knowing about this stupid little rule concerning rings) because I like the Gustenburg area best for lvling noob chars, really got ripped off by not getting a "special" item, and since Bastok rarely EVER is in 1st it'll be a cold day in hell before I'm ever going to be able to get a ring. -.-

On Changing Nations
# Mar 17 2005 at 4:40 AM Rating: Excellent
OK ill clarify a few things here, since i have changed nations back and forth a few times.

COst to change Nation:
If the nation you are JOINING is in-
1st Place= 40k Gil
2nd Place= 10k Gil
3rd Place= 4k Gil

Rank does NOT matter when doing this. The only restriction on doing it is you can not currently be on a mission to change. IE if you have accepted Bastok 5-1, you can not join windurst untillyou finish Bastok 5-1.

WHen you change nations, you do NOT keep your rank. if you are rank 5 in sandoria when you change nations, your Sandoria rank stays at 5, your NEW rank will be 1 in the new nation. So in effect you could be rank 5 Sandoria, join Bastok and you would be rank 1 and have to do the missions all over again for bastok... If you go BACK to sandoria you will be rank 5 for sandoria.

you keep all your Conquest points that you have earned. Buying conquest items from other nations Still has the same rules as before. If you have rank 5 in sandoria, and join bastok and are rank 2 in bastok, you can NOT buy rank 5 sandorian items untill you are rank 5 in bastok, and even then they will STILL cost more points for being from anotehr nation then your current allegience.

Many people change nations to earn gil for doing the missions. Yes you can have all 3 flags, and anything that goes along with that.

Hope that clears some things up because ive done this manu times myself with 3 different characters.

Nations rings
# Nov 24 2004 at 11:21 AM Rating: Decent
I would like someone to clear up for me the issue of buying other nations rings through conquest points. I know for a fact that you can get other nations' rings by changing citizenship.. and not lose any previous rings.. and I know for a fact that rank 3 and 4000 Conquest Points will get you a nation's ring when they are no.1 in the ranks.. I learned that the hard way as a noob starting an Elvaan in Bastok. I was able to get my Bastokan ring for my Elvaan that way. My new character however is a taru starting in Windy, since it was a taru native nation, I received the Windurstian ring by default. I now want the Sandorian ring.. and I want clarification on getting a Sandy ring via conquest points from WINDY.. I don't want to have to change citizenship.. and if I do have to change citizenship and get rank 3 in that nation.. what is the cost.. and I have to have completed the latest mission I was on.. correct? Thank you in advance.

other things I can clear up.. you don't lose your conquest points by switching nations.. you do lose your rank of course.. start from scratch. You cannot trade or sell a nation's ring.. and you can only have one of each. It is not a quest item.. but it is worthwhile for the lower levels..

Clarification in A minor

Uhmm.. lets clear up some greivous misinformation

Nationallity change:

It is based on the current conquest and balance of power. To switch to First place usually runs about 10k, to switch to third costs about 4k

If you change nationallities, you are still classified as what ever rank citizen in the city you came from. IE: start in sandy , go to rank5, then switch to windhurst, then switch back to sandy, youll still be rank5.

you do NOT loose your earned conquest points for that nation. you cannot access them while aligned with another nation. But they will be there upon your return.

You do NOT loose your ring if you switch nationallites. And yes, the ring is available to you in conquest when your nation is number1, as a Rank3 item. 4k CP. 8K cp, If you purchase another nations ring.

You do NOT loose your earned airship pass if youve surpassed rank5. (or any of the key items that you were granted to get there)

If you already have an airship pass in your possession when completing R5 mission, you are given 20k in gil instead.

You can possess all 3 national flags for your mog, IF you have Rank10 in all 3 nations

The only thing Ive been able to confirm the loss of since nationallity change is that you must redo your ballista licensing quest.

Dont let misinformation prevent you from changing your nationallity. There are little or no reasons not to, and plenty of reasons why one would want to.

I thought you could only switch if you were Rank6 or lower? I could be wrong as it's just something I heard. Someone in a LS I was in was switching nations and they said they needed to pay 60k gil. So it might have something to do with nation rank / your rank? (They were rank 6 at the time)

You can change your nationality whenever you want, as far as you have enough gil to pay. Rank doesn't change the price.

this reminds me of something that happened the first time i went to San d'Oria. i was running through West Ronfaure with my ring equiped, and i swear, no less than five people asked to buy it off me. one of them just didn't seem to get it, and kept insisting "Don't you understand!? I'll give you money for it!! Money!!" the exact same thing happened to my friend, too. this was only about a week after the PS2 release, so that probably had something to do with it.

The Real Method
# Feb 09 2004 at 2:24 PM Rating: Decent
There is no quest for this. To get this ring if you didn't start in your Race's Hometown.(example)An Elvaan who started in Windurst would do this to attain the Windurstian Ring: Get your character to attain Rank 3, (defeat the dragon) Save up 4000 conquest points, then wait until your country is first in the conquests, when you are, buy the ring for 4000cp from a W.W. (under the rank 3 items, next page listing). After I did this I switched my nationality to San d'Orian and did the same thing (got rank 3, got 4000cp, waited for first place) and I bought the San d'Orian Ring! Now my character has Windurstian and San d'Orian rings equipped at the same time! I get asked A LOT about how I did this. Just thought I should post for everyone to see. :)

RE: The Real Method
# Mar 08 2004 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
you can switch your nationality at the town you want to switch to. It takes your rank, and lots of gil, based on your rank i think, like 10K or so. And you lose the ring if you have it.

I'd just like to confirm this since i'll be starting my character soon. (Hume in Bastok then switching to San d'Oria ....bastok is way too ****** up for me...) Do you REALLY lose your ring if you switch allegiances?

The ring is not lost when switching allegiances.
I've considered switching for a bastokan ring, they are not bad for someone into melee jobs.
RE: The Real Method
# Jul 29 2004 at 9:53 PM Rating: Decent
Or a even better way, if you change nationality you will lose your rank and hence it will be a pain to start all over again. Unless you have alot of conquest points, you can actually trade for it for twice the conquest points, that is only when your country is 1st.
I.e. you pay 8k worth of conquest points for exchanging a Bastokan Ring for a Windurstian or Sandorian

It's better than redoing all those annoying Missions again and again.

It is still possible to get the Bastokian ring if you're not a Hume or Galka. The ring can be purchased as a Rank 3 Conquest Point Item (4000 pts.), but is only available when Bastok is in 1st place.

I happen to be one such Taru on the Midgardsormr server with the ring.

No. This, and two other rings like it, are a "bonus" if you start a character in their native town - Humes and Galkas that start in Bastok get the Bastokan Ring, TaruTaru and Mithra that start in Windurst get the Windurstan Ring, and Elvaan who start in San D'Oria get the Sann D'Orian Ring. Each is a little different, and tailored to the strong suits of the native races.
